Kaikura's mood seemed to match the thundering sky above him. Rain was drenching the pridelands and the storm had been a sudden one. Since he had, as a new rule of thumb due to his curse, decided to avoid others completely he had been in a more remote part of the pride. He had been forced to take refuge under a rocky outcrop to escape the water and the chill it brought with it.
His strenght had been retained of late, but only due to his isolation. It seemed no matter where he was or what was happening, when it came to meeting people his curse kicked in and left him sickly on the ground. It still had yet to dawn on the stubborn male that it was his own fault. That, perhaps, he needed to change his ways. Instead he sulked in the small bit of shelter, hating the confinement along with his current state of luck.

Buu was a long way from home, and at the moment quite miserable. The rain made it seem as if she was crying, and in her heart she was. Buu was a member of a large family, had rarely been alone in her life, and had a second family to go to if she had ever needed it. Right now she was without all of them, without their security, and without their protection. It was dreadfully... awful without all of them to by her side. All she desired right now was some company, someone to snuggle up against her and keep her warm. The rain had already begun to soak into her skin, had blocked her eyesight. It had washed away all old and new scents, so that she was literally blind. She was shivering down to her very toes... Oh, how she wanted to go home. But she couldn't in this rain, not when she was so clearly blinded.
In the distance a dark shape loomed, and as she drew closer she could identify it as shelter. Her heart leaped with hope, and she hurried to the shelter, breaking through the waterfall of rain falling from the outcropping of rock and ending up standing right beside Kaikura. At first she didn't notice him, pushing her wet bangs back from her vibrant blue eyes. Buu was a pretty lioness, a little larger then the average sized lioness (for her age). So, in no way could she be considered physically weak for females. The lioness was the same age as Kaikura, though to his eyes she would look quite mature (despite being soppy wet).
Her blue eyes widened when she finally did realize him, and unsuredly she took a step back. "Oh - Sorry, I didn't mean to steal your spot. It's just... wet. And I don't like being wet."

Kaikura was crappy and at the sound of another he instinctively sharpened his tongue to lash out. But he stopped when he saw the nature of the stranger before him. She was beatiful-aluring in every way from her drenched sent to her dripping bangs. And yet, at these unfamiliar notions he balked, his ears flicking back in self-agrivation. His beliefs at females being lowly and useless compared to males threw themselves full force against his new sensations, causing him to be utterly tongue-tied. He gave her no response, only staring at her in a sense of bewilderment.

He was staring at her... and she had no idea why. Her ears flattened against the back of her skull as she returned his look, obviously just as bewildered as he was. But since he didn't seem to be chasing her away, she sat down, curling her tail around her leg as water droplets gathered at the end of her bangs and slowly dripped into the ground. She kept her mouth firmly closed, to keep her teeth from chattering together. It would make such a wrong impression on him if he saw that she was so affected by the cold and rain! He would surely kick her out if he didn't like her... so she had to make him like her.
She gave him an unsure smile, bowing her head slightly as she finally broke the ice and spoke. "Well... I'm Kibuulu'ardhi. You can call me Buu. What would you like me to call you?" She would start off by being polite and allowing him to call her whatever he wanted, her full name or her nickname. Hopefully he would be friendly with her and call her Buu. It was a step in the right direction for her to stay nice and warm and out of the rain.

Kaikura's mind slowly began to sort itself out, in a sense. He reasoned that he wasn't being blind to the truth he had admited for his life-females were the lesser of the two genders. Instead he simply reasoned that she was a special female, not up to the level of a male, but above other females he had met. Upon reaching this conclusion he quickly reached another.
He wanted her.
For what he had yet to figure out. But it was reason enough for him to want her to stay. Doing the only thing he truly understood, taking pride in his strength, he puffed up his chest and shifted to slightly to show his finely tuned muscles. "I'm Kaikura," he rumbled confidently with a dash of his typical arrogance. His eyes had yet to leave her.

Really, he needed to stop staring at her! She was suddenly feeling quite shy and embarrassed, lowering her eyes to her paws to avoid having to meet his somewhat intense gaze. Was something wrong with her appearance? Was there mud sticking to her paws? ...No, nothing seemed to be out of order, besides the fact that she was wet. She was more soaked then him... so maybe he was looking at her like that because she was wet. Yes, that had to be it. Well, if that was the case, she would dry off soon and everything would be better.
Shyly she gazed at him through the corner of her eye, examining the way his muscles tensed and showed underneath his fur."Oh! You must be strong!" She couldn't control her impulse to say such a thing, giving him a bright smile despite the fact that she was slightly embarrassed because she had been so outspoken. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Kaikura. You'll let me stay dry, will you?"

With a surge his feelings intensified, his ego inflating like a balloon. Now this was a female who knew what she was talking about! His desire for her grew and he found the comment complete proof that she was far better then other females. The added fire to his pride was visable by a wide smile, an expression he hadn't graced anyone with since his childhood.
"I am," he boasted without shame, "I circle these lands without panting so much as wearied breath, and on a daily basis." Though he was egotistical his accounts were in fact true. He was very strong for his age and it had all come from hard work over his life time. At her question he quickly brushed it aside and added, quite boldy, "Of course. Do come closer."

She smiled softly, encouraged by the biggest grin she had ever seen on any lion's face. Obviously she had said something right to have encouraged such a wonderful smile onto Kaikura's face! It boosted her confidence, and even her friendliness to this lion (though honestly, it couldn't be boosted that much). Buu was on almost every occassion perfectly friendly to any other creature she met. Some could consider her to be friendly to the extreme, Buu never having really gone without friends or people to talk with. But her trip had deprived her of that, and now all she wanted (desperately) was a little company and conversation.
"Wow! I wish I was able to do that. I can go pretty far, but never could I circle such expansive lands without losing my breath. I would flop down dead before that!" Buu was clearly impressed by Kaikura's strength, ready to praise it on the instant Kaikura boasted of it. But, at his invitation to come closer, she almost shied away, surprised by his own friendliness. But... she was cold, and there was no reason for her not to get closer. It'd be easier to chat with him that way, and so tentatively she stood, placing herself next to him, but not terribly close. She didn't want to break any personal boundaries. "Thank you."

"Of course! Few are as strong as I," Kaikura thrummed with pride and cockiness. In his mind this also said that he wasn't surprised she couldn't do it. She was female, after all, even if she was the best of them. A female could not out do a male. It was a simple fact of life. He was soon distracted, however, by her nearness. Or more by the lack of it. She was closer, true, but not as close as he desired. It was terribly frustrating and for a brief moment it showed on his face. He was very much used to getting his way and pushing others around to do so, though of late that had been dulled by the fact that every time he tried he grew sick.

"I have a brother who may be as strong, or even stronger then you. He's huge, but I don't mind his size. He's my brother, and it's cool when you wrestle with him and see how much stronger he is then you." Oh, she was off again, complimenting the lions that had brought most happiness to her life. Njozi had been the one to coax Buu out of her home, is now the reason why she was here holding conversation with Kaikura. "But, I'm pretty sure that you're stronger then him if you can achieve that so easily."
The look on his face troubled her, and she frowned softly, wondering once again what she had done wrong. "I'm sorry? Did I do something wrong?" She had to ask, had to make sure that she had done nothing to insult or injure him. If she had done something, she was going to have to apologize. But at the very least she had to know what that something was that she had done wrong was so she could apologize. She only wanted him to be happy with. She wanted a guide through these lands, and more importantly a friend when she was suddenly lacking so many.

Kaikura was only more irrate at the mention of her brother. He didn't like being compared to others in such a fashion, not when he wasn't the clear winner of the comparison. His pride was wounded, not to mention he had already been struggling with his sudden urge to have her. With a flare of his normal untolerant dispositon he spat bitterly, "Stupid girl."
He immediately felt a sharp stabbing pain in his head, which made him whince. He had to advert his gaze as he furrowed his brows at the sickly feeling. Damn. He cursed letting her stay, since this was a typical result of interaction, and yet he still hungered for her, so banishing her now was impossible, at least willingly.

What he called her was so... shocking. Her eyes widened as he spat out his insult, clearly thinking it uncalled for and undeniably being hurt by it. She could feel tears coming on, tears that made her eyes sparkle with sadness and hurt. What had she done to deserve such cruelty? Sadly she stood up again, putting obvious distance between them, reclining at the opposite end of their little shelter, her gaze set away from him. If he wanted to insult her, she wouldn't stay near him. She couldn't put up with such verbal torture. He had been so nice to her earlier! Was he really nasty under all of that 'show' he had given her? Or was he nice and had just slipped up? She couldn't know for sure, and it upsetted her.
"I'm sorry. I'll leave if you like." It was obvious she didn't want to go, not necessarily because she wanted to be close to him, but moreso because she didn't want to go out in the rain again. She knew by now that he must be hating her, and would be wanting her gone. She'd leave if he really wanted it. But, otherwise she'd rather wait until the rain let up to make her departure. She could return home, to a nice family that love her and would never say such cruel things to her. That sounded so... nice right now.

"No," he immediately growled, though he was unable to manage anything more without a groan from his newfound pain. It wasn't an intense sensation-just distracting and brain rattling. He's spurts of sickness were something he was unable to get used to, for he had been extremely fit and healthy all of his life. And while he was angry, frustrated, and dispising towards her he didn't want her to leave. And he had no idea how to get a decisive reaction from his suddenly conflicting views.

"No?" If he wanted her to stay, then why was his behavior towards her not nicer? He should've tolder her 'no' nicely, or should've begged her to stay and apologize for hurting her feelings. But she was getting none of these things from him, not even a hint of apologeticness from the male. Why would he want her to stay if he obviously did not care for her enough to apologize for hurting her? He was probably just playing around, because he didn't seem like the kind of male that would sincerely want her to stay after being so nasty to her in the first place. With a sigh she glanced towards the rain, debating leaving. If she left it would probably save her some pain and many insults... But if she stayed she had the possibility to make a new friend, to try and teach him to be a little kinder to others.
"Why do you want me to stay? I'm obviously just stupid. I can't be with someone as cool as you." Surprisingly her words held no menace towards him, just only sorrow and hurt. She still couldn't get over the fact that he had been so mean to her. He had shown her a piece of himself that she did not really like. Buu was all about smiles and pretty pink flowers. There was not an intentionally mean bone in her body. Anything she did that would hurt others made her sad and regretful. It was just in her nature to be nice, as it was in his nature to be mean and self-centered.

Kaikura gave her no reply. It was because he really didn't have an answer. He didn't know why he wanted her to stay. He had never so much as given a female a second glance before. The reason that he was compelled to keep her around was a mystery to him. And while he was easily level headed in the face of insults due to his ego, frustration and confusion was not something he handled well. "Just leave me be!" He flared with a snarl before turning his back to her. He managed to make it all the way around before he gasped as quietly as possible at a wave of nausia. Urgh, that goddess and her damn curse.
