Once again Buu was searching for her 'favorite' brother. Rarely nowadays did she spend time with her own family. Adamu was gone somewhere, and she barely even saw much of Batuuli. It was becoming stressful, and that's why she liked to hang out with her adopted family more then her real one. Her other family was more stable and close-knitted. She felt like she belonged with them, and she knew her mother cared about her just as much as she did for the other children. It made her happy to have two families, both sharing her blood, and both filling in where holes were left by the other. Not many other lions had two families. Buu was fortunate, very fortunate.

"Njooozzziiii?" She checked behind a big rock, eyebrows furrowing as if she had actually expected him to be there. But, of course he wasn't. Whenever Buu seemed to want to find him, he was nowhere nearby. He always had to be miles away, off hunting or looking at girls. She had once spied him with some white and red lioness... He was beginning to spend more time with her then he was with his own sister! Well, Buu understood the need to flirt and get girls, but right now she was intent on having some brother and sister bonding time. There was no way that she was going to let Njozi escape to go chat with girls.

Walking around the large rock, she continued on her search for her pale brother. He hadn't been home long, and he had promised to tell her stories of his adventures away from home. Home was one place Buu had never left, and she couldn't help but feel a certain yearning to travel, to look for new and more friends, and like her adopted mother she wanted to travel to find that someone special. If Ny could do it... she would be able to do it as well. "NJOZI. Where are YOU!?" She headed to the nearest source of water, hoping beyond hope that her brother was there so she could stop walking around and and get her stories already.

It hadn’t taken long for Njozi to find comfort in his homelands once he returned. He had fallen right back into the embrace of his loving family. They were an odd collection, but he loved every last one of them, and it felt better than ever to have others that genuinely cared for him. On his travels, he had only had his father and his grandmother to care for him, and though they both loved him dearly, it had not been the same as being in a large loving group of siblings. He had missed it dearly, though he hadn’t realized how badly until he had come home and found the mass of them right where he had left them. They were each and every one a piece of him, and though he had spent many months away from them while they were all growing, he still felt like he belonged among them. He even felt that connection between them stronger than before – at least in some of them.

However, as appealing as his family was, it had to be understood that he was nearly an adult now, and his heart was beginning to roam and wander. He had found something that kept his mind occupied most hours of the day, even when its source was not immediately present. Today was lonely without Ihlo around, but he supposed that she must be playing with her brothers or sisters. He had to let her have her own time at some point, but he found it harder and harder to stay away. That though, in itself, was a little unsettling.

Currently, everyone’s favorite big-headed beauty was lying comfortably in the curve of an outstretched limb, two legs tucked beneath his body and the other two dangling along with his tail. It was precarious, keeping his balance on the thick arm, being as big as he was – but he seemed to have the hang of it. That is, of course, until that screech resounded nearly directly below his resting place. His half-closed lids snapped open and his body gave a full jerk – perhaps one of the very last things he needed to do at that point. As his form jerked, he lost balance, and came in a fast tumble down onto the earth beneath him. With the foliage and brush growing around the ancient trunk, it cushioned his fall, but it was still less than soft.

With a grunt, he glared up at the mocha form that was towering over him, his breath knocked clean out of his lungs. He could move, he thought, but wasn’t risking it until he had feeling back in all his limbs. Overall, he would be a little bruised and sore, but not too hurt otherwise. After he finally regained his misplaced breath, he let his crimson eyes swivel up to the imposing sky-toned ones. “I’m..right here, Buu.”

She quite literally screamed as huge form came crashing down from the tree that was currently above her head. Buu jumped a few steps back, narrowly avoiding getting crushed by Njozi. Cautiously she stared at the pale form, not quite recognizing him through her shock and her fear. Eventually she managed to calm herself down, though, by taking deep, steadying breaths. In... and out. In... and out. There, her nerves weren't so jittery any longer, and she didn't feel as if she was going to jump out of her fur at the next unsuspected sound. Now officially calmed down, she was able to recognize her adopted brother. Yes, the dark mane was familiar, and certainly the red eyes stood out. Of course... his pelt was a little dirty from the fall, but all in all this was Njozi.

"What were you doing up in that tree?" She stared down at him, blue eyes bright with amusement. Usually lions didn't hang out in trees, but then... Njozi had been away from the family for so long, so maybe it had been encouraged to learn how to climb trees in the rogue lands. It had to be some sort of form of self-defense. She'd ask him about it more in depth later, after he was done sharing fantastic tales of his life away from the Kusini. That was more important then the reasoning behind why he was up in a tree.

"You're so silly." Her tone was affectionate, and she sat down next to his unmoving form, finding it amusing that he was yet to get up. But, after her amusement withered away she was left feeling a minute concern for her brother. "Are you all right? Did you break anything? If you did, mom's going to kill me. You just came back and already you've gotten hurt."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 20, 2007 2:24 pm

Njozi grumbled to himself as he rolled over onto his belly and promptly shook out his mane, sending bits of dust and debris flying everywhere. With a little groan, he pushed his body to his paws, obviously already feeling the consequences of such a fall. His joints ached already and his muscles were beginning to get sore. He’d be bruised a bit, and he wouldn’t want to move tomorrow morning, but he supposed it could have been worse.

“Resting, because it’s a good place to do it when you want to be in peace,” he said as he shook his coat a little to send the rest of the dust back home to the ground beneath him, “that, and it’s easier to see the lands from up there. If I can see for a little ways, it means I don’t have to be walking around.” Of course, this was something he was getting a bit too big to be doing. Once he was fully grown, there would be very few trees that had boughs strong enough to support all his weight. Taabu had shown him the trick, but he could no longer use it.

“I’m fine, I’m fine,” he muttered, forcing a smile onto his face, although he really was a bit happier to see her than he had been just a few moments ago. He really could have done without her making him fall square out of a tree. “Don’t worry about it, Mom will probably tell me I deserved it for being foolish enough to get up there to begin with,” he muttered, thinking about how she’d been reacting lately – especially to Rengo. “Did you need me for something?” he asked, quirking a brow, finally done with shaking out his thick fur.

"In a tree?" She didn't think resting a tree could be a very peaceful thing to do. Branches had bark on them, and she was sure she didn't like the way bark rubbed against her soft underbelly. And there were weird insects that liked trees, and seeing as she didn't quite like them she avoided trees. On top of that, it was too much effort to get to a good branch. She'd forever be greeted with the fear of falling. Surely resting in a tree was not as relaxing as Njozi was making it out to be. No, lions slept in dens, cheetahs where ever, and leopards in the trees. Njozi was too big to be a leopard, so he clearly did not belong there. "Yeah, I guess that's true. But, really, this tree isn't all that big so you couldn't see very far. Lions belong on the ground, in my opinion. Trees are for the greedy leopards who would not share their meals with their companions."

She was relieved, though, when Njozi reassured her that he was fine. She really didn't want her brother getting hurt, because she did love him and would feel terribly guilty if she was the one to cause him harm. Kibuulu'ardhi was sure that Njozi's skin was too thick to be penetrated by hurt, but one could never be sure. It had been a while since she had spent decent time with her brother, and so many things about him could have changed. After their first meeting when Njozi had returned, though, Buu was sure that he had not changed all that much. So what if he showed a little more interest in girls? That was perfectly natural. She liked looking at some of the boys, but too many were part of her family so it was difficult to find a boy to hang out with for a little while. "You were foolish for getting up there, brave, but foolish at the same time. You did fall, and if you had not been up there you would not have."

Her expression brightened intensely, and she bowed down to buffet her head against Njozi's, purring loudly. "I'm here to hear some stories, brother. I want to hear about you journey, what you learned, who you saw, what they were like... EVERYTHING. You promised me, Njozi, so you have to tell me!" She leaned back, her blue eyes giving him an imploring look. Oh... she so wanted to hear his heroic tales. Had he saved anyone during his journey? Did he do anything miraculous? There was so much to know, and she didn't want to waste time by breathing and idolizing her brother. She needed a story, and a good one!

Njozi really had no problem with the bark that rubbed against his fur or the little bugs that inhabited the tree as well – but then again, he wasn’t a female. He knew girls could be strange about mussing their fur or having the little creepy crawlies on their body. He didn’t say he quite understood it since it was all just a natural part of their world, but he certainly did know about it at least. Of course, if he thought about it, it wasn’t just females. He had met his fair share of boys that didn’t particularly like it either – and one of those happened to be in his own distant family. Azima could match any females fickleness if pushed – he had seen it with his own eyes, if from afar. “Well, trees can also be for lions that are trying to hide away from all their pushy family members too,” he said with a little smirk that was far too reminiscent of his grandmother (and Buu’s sister) but vanished, leaving behind only the mirth.

“If someone hadn’t come along squealing her little head off, then I wouldn’t have fallen down from my perch – where I happened to be balanced rather well, thank you. You should try it some time, it’s more refreshing than you give it credit for, and a good place to hide from everyone. Especially mother, have you noticed how angry she’s been lately? I think it has to do with Rengo coming home.” He nodded, although the end of his words seemed to be a bit more of a ramble and more or less his thoughts rather than a conversation he seemed to be having with her. With a little smile, he shook his head, glancing up at her between wisps of his thick, dark mane. “I’ll try not to get up in the trees anymore if I can help it though, and if I do, I won’t go that far up, ok?” he couldn’t help trying to calm her fears – she was adorable when she was worried and what good brother didn’t give in to such a nice sister?

He grinned widely as she pestered him for a story, tilting his head at her for a few moments in thought. “Did I really promise that?” he said teasingly, a soft chuckle on his words as he situated himself to lay down comfortably beneath the tree, nodding for her to take a seat across from him. “I suppose I did, so I had better keep my word before, yeah?” He shook his head then, trying to think of what story to tell her, mostly coming up with nothing all that important. Then, with simple nod, he glanced back to her.

With a deep breath, he began to spin out the tale of the time when he and Bibi were all alone – waiting for his father to come back from hunting. Then, he explained how a horrible rogue came upon them and all Bibi could do was fight him off long enough to get Njozi away. Njozi, too young, could do nothing but run for help. He found a big dark lion, brought him back, and saved Bibi from the rogue. “Then, I find out that this dark lion is actually my Uncle. Uncle Denahi, Bibi’s older brother that left a long time ago, and I guess.. your older brother that you never knew?” He knew that she was getting hungry for travel and that knowing there was family out there she never knew would probably only make it worse.

She gasped softly, turning a mock-hurt look towards her brother. She was sure that he was implying that she had been a little pushy, but she was sure that Njozi had said it in good nature. In fact, she was positive of it because she did know her brother, know him for the kind lion that he had grown up to be. Whatever he said would be in a teasing gesture, and Buu was determined not to become offended by it. Instead of letting herself get hurt, she pouted playfully at her brother. "Trees are for lions who can't face their own problems," she told him with a light, airy, and generally carefree voice. She rolled her pretty blue eyes away from him, sighing with a pitying tone. "I feel sorry for those who cannot stand up for themselves. I guess that is why I'm so needed in this pride. I'm not afraid to stand up to troublesome family." She gestured to him idly with her tail as a grin broke out across her face.

"Squeal?" The look on her face was something akin to minute horror. "I do not squeal! My voice is waaay too pretty to do any such thing as squealing. Besides, if you had a better grip on your perch you would not have fell because you heard my beautiful voice and were entranced and distracted by it." She tossed dark bangs away from her eyes, trying to take on a look that screamed 'I am superior to you!' But then she let that attitude drop, turning her normal sweet look to her brother. "Maybe I will try it one time when I'm trying to evade mother. I've noticed that she's been getting a little crankier, but I rarely do anything to upset her so I haven't really had to deal with it. I say let Rengo deal with her attitude. I love mom to death, but it's hard to deal with her when she's in her right mind to be angry." After finishing her little rant she nodded her head and continued on with, "Thank you, I'd appreciate it if you didn't climb high enough to risk snapping your neck if you fall."

Once again it returned to playful attitude with her and Njozi, and with another sweet little gasp she reached out to take a swap at Njozi's mane. "Of course you promised me that!" she managed to get in right before Njozi admitted that he remembered that he had made such a promise to her. Maybe the hit to his head had jogged his memory a little bit. "It'd only be right of you to keep your word, and if you didn't I'd tell mom that you're a liar and let you deal with her and her mood swings." Then Njozi began his story, and she fell completely silent. Her blue eyes watched him with a look of complete and total fascination. She was fixated upon him as he spun the tale of the attack of a rogue. Buu knew that most rogues were not the kindest of lions, because if they were kind then they would have found a pride of their own to live in. But the fact that Bibi and Njozi had been attacked by one stole her breath away, and not in a good way! Immediately she felt concern for her brother when the event was long passed. But Njozi continued on with his tale, and distracted her from her mood at the mention that she had a brother out in the world somewhere. "Wow! A brother? Oh, I would just so love to meet him, and he saved you and Bibi from the rogue? He must have been absolutely and completely strong! Does he look like me? Does he?"

He frowned softly as he listened to her words. Well, it was little known fact that he was obviously having trouble facing up to his own problems. He wanted to tell Ihlo that he loved her, that she was the only one he ever wanted to be with. Of course, this was a little hard to do when his heart jumped into his throat and his stomach turned back flips every time he saw her. Sure, she wasn’t mean, but how in the world was he ever going to work up the courage? He simply forced a smile, nodding slowly, “I know you’re not afraid to do that.” There was no reason he had to mention that he really was just out here day-dreaming to escape his problems. He wasn’t willing to admit that to anyone yet, really.

“You’re right, I’m sorry, you have a wonderfully beautiful voice, Buu,” and the words only had a bit of sarcasm laced in them. No, he wasn’t being mean, but he was picking on her because that was what he was good at. Njozi was a sweet heart but loved to tease and if Buu hadn’t come to learn that by now then she never would – but he had a good feeling that Buu knew him just about as well as he knew himself, despite the fact that he had been gone on his travels for a while. “You’re a girl, though, so mom really wouldn’t come fussing to you about something Rengo did,” he muttered, eyeing her sideways. He had had to run away from his mother more than once just to avoid her in one of her feet-stomping, smoke from the ears moods.

“Yes, a brother,” he said quietly, furrowing his eyebrows with a bit of a frown. “Bibi said.. that he wasn’t always very nice. In fact, he still seemed to be a little mean. Well, not mean, but kind of distant and not very good at socializing.” He shrugged, it obviously didn’t matter too much to him. He had been nice enough to save them because they were family and no matter his personality, it made him alright by him. “But no, he doesn’t really look too much like you? He’s really dark. Bibi says,” he stopped, frowning as he looked at her, gritting his teeth for a moment before he continued on, “Bibi says that he looks like your mother – your real one. And he has my Gapa Asi’s mane.” He didn’t know if Buu would particularly like him talking about her real mom or the lion that really should have been her father but wasn’t.

His answer seemed too simple compared to how he had been talking before, and immediately suspicion rose in her mind. It was easy to mistake Buu for being stupid from her attitude. Buu seemed carefree, flirtatious, and even happy-go-lucky. These attributes did not usually lead to someone believing that she was intelligent. In actuality Buu had a quick mind when she chose to use it, and she could read her brother's body language and the tone of his voice easily. What proved that she had greater intelligence was that though she had knowledge that something was wrong with Njozi, she did not pursue it. She figured Njozi would be better off without her pestering him, and she really did not want to cause him any more discomfort. She had made him fall out of a tree, she didn't need to bring up his troubles and force him to face him. No, Buu would leave him alone, and life would function as normal and without unneccessary drama.

"I know I do, that's why I talk so much, so everyone can be graced by the beauty of my voice." She could hear the sarcasm in his voice, but she chose the best way to conquer her brother by ignoring it completely. Buu had been teased enough by Njozi to have learned the best method to deal with it, and thus she employed this method frequently. "Well I guess there's some truth in that. But I suppose that sometimes girls do want to complain to other girls. We have some sort of connection and we understand each other better than if we were discussing it with a boy. She'll come to me if she can't find you to rant to." She knew full well that her brother fled Nyunya at times, because some times she did have to deal with their mother because everyone else had developed the habit of evading her when she was in one of her moods.

She didn't bother listening to all the bad qualities that Njozi was listing about the brother that she never knew. She just had the incredible urge to run off just to meet this lion, but then she had experiencing the urge to leave home for a little while now. "It would be nice to be able to see him, to see my mother in him. I've seen her in all of my brothers and sisters... but in this Denahi I haven't. I want to..." Her voice drifted off, brows furrowing as she came to realize more and more that she wanted to leave home. She didn't want to leave permanently, that was for sure! Kusini was her home, and she would never leave it for the rest of her life. "I want to go exploring on my own... leave," she whispered softly.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 22, 2007 7:47 pm

He seemed very pleased that she didn’t pursue the matter any further, didn’t push the boundaries he had set up to try and keep his personal conflicts inside where he could sort them out on his own. With the fact that his troubles were dwindling away for at least the moment, he laughed and turned his attention away from them and onto the sister that seemed to make him chuckle whenever she chose to come around. “Well, I’m sure that we all really appreciate you gracing us with all that beauty,” he said with a little nod, though he turned his crimson eyes onto her in full, “but maybe.. next time you could try and not be so loud with all that beauty? In large amounts, it can be rather startling, ok?” It wasn’t mean – just the truth. He didn’t like big, loud, sudden noises and her yelling had certainly been all that and more.

“Well, I think the key word for you to recognize there is ‘discuss’. She may do that with you, but with the boys it’s more like she holds us down and makes us listen to all these things we really don’t want to hear,” he chuckled though, amused. He really did love his mother, but she had a temper beyond reason. “Then she tries to pit us up against one another like we’re some kind of pawns and that just makes us run away with our tales tucked between our legs.” He simply laughed then, leaning his head back and staring up at the leaves for a moment. “Since Rengo has come home, all that pent up anger at him has exploded – I duck into the woods any time I even think she’s a little pissed. I don’t like being the center of her attention right now, even if you girls can handle it.” He shrugged, glancing back down with a rather clam expression – it was all the truth. His mom was a fire nymph incarnate at the best of times.

“I know, I know, but..” he trailed off and shook his head. There was going to be no convincing her that his uncle and her eldest brother was a bit of a touchy fellow. Sure, he seemed to generally love Syeira and had thus saved her for that reason alone, but he didn’t seem to be very fond of Taabu. “He gave my dad that scar over his eyes,” he said quietly, brows furrowed. It had something to do with Uumi, his grandfather, he was sure. Something about Uumi’s blood enraged his uncle. However, as those soft words drifted to his ears, they perked, and a smile spread across his maw. “I really don’t blame you for that. I was gone traveling for a while and even though I’m glad to be home, I wouldn’t change the past for anything. I loved every second of it.”

"I have beauty in more then just my voice." She stood up, and turning herself around in a circle she showed off all of her beauty to her brother. She adored her earthy colors, her startling blue eyes... all of this gave her reason to be a little vain. Of course she didn't let this get to her head, and she was really down to earth and a normal lioness. But when she was with her brother she let herself go, because as much as she adored to compliment her brother, she liked to be complimented in return. "All right, I promise you that I won't be so loud and startling. I really just wanted to find you and quickly, and you know my voice so very well. Yelling seemed the best chance to find you." She shrugged her shoulders, obviously not being insulted by the truth of Njozi's comment. To her it didn't sound the least bit mean.

She chuckled gently, apparently amused by all the mental pictures that Njozi was filling her head with. "I think that's just how you view it. To me it's discussing, and to you it is torture. We just have different viewpoints because you are a boy and I am a girl." It was one of the rare moments when she let a little bit of her intelligence shine through, though she really did not realize it. In actuality she was just doing her best to defend her mother, because she always took the side of the lion that seemed to be the most likely to lose. It was simply in her nature, and if Njozi had been the one being picked on she would have stood up for him. But it was Nyunya who was being picked on, and so Buu came to her defense immediately. "Well, the only smart thing to do is avoid her when she's like that, though I don't suggest running away with your tail between your legs. That's degrading. How about you try and compliment her, and distract her from whatever is making her upset? I'm sure that will work."

Buu frowned delicately when she heard that Denahi was the one who had given Taabu the scar over his eye. Surely he had a reason to... but then she loved Taabu like a father and she could not imagine him doing anything to deserve such ill treatment. This only further encouraged her to go off seeking this lion and her own little adventure. There was so much that she did not know and did not understand! Venturing out into the world would surely help her to increase her knowledge and thus give her a fuller life. "I think that... I want to leave home soon. Do you think mom would let me do it? I wouldn't be gone long, but I just need to get out a little, see new lions and other creatures, maybe even meet Denahi and get to know him a little. I would like to be able to meet this brother of mine. Oh, I so long to travel, to have my own little adventure..."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 22, 2007 8:25 pm

“You are definitely very beautiful, Buu,” he said, although it was rather awkward. He wasn’t as good at giving other people compliments like she was, and she was his sister besides all of that! It was odd to have to think of her as ‘beautiful’, especially in adult terms. Although, thinking of a beautiful lioness only led him back to Ihlo. He really did think she was the most beautiful of all, but she and Buu were definitely two different forms of beauty. Buu was dark and attractive, and Ihlo was pale and delicate. He shook his head with a sigh, trying to rid the thoughts of Ihlo. This was exactly why he had come out here – he was trying to get her out of his head.

He frowned at her as she called his behavior ‘degrading’. She had obviously never seen exactly how Nyunya treated the boys in her anger. She didn’t think they were at all as delicate as her daughters and that most often meant that they got the brunt of her attitude. He simply smiled and shook his head, “until she chews you out like she has Rengo or me, I don’t want to hear you tell me what is degrading. I don’t think you’ve ever seen her truly in a rampage – tucking my tail is the only way I can get away with my head still on my shoulders sometimes.” No, she wasn’t violent physically, but oh she had a razor tongue he was almost sure could spar with Bibi’s.

“Then you should do that,” he said with a small smile, pushing himself up onto his paws and glancing towards the horizon. “Go out and see the world, Buu, go see everything that you’ve ever wanted to. You’re almost a grown lioness, why would mother stop you? She saw the world when she was your age – that’s why she came here to be with Dad. She might not like to see any of her kids go, but I’m sure she’d never try to hold you back from your dreams. She’s just not that type of mother.” He grinned, tilting his head, “maybe you should go talk to her?” He himself seemed to be itching to begin going somewhere too - probably to see Ihlo, or at least try to find her. He never did get to go very long without the urge to spend time with her, despite the fact that she drove him mad with all his thoughts and tongue tied him when he finally was in her presence.

"Thank you," she murmured softly, and she was certainly able to tell that it was a little awkward for Njozi to be saying it. She didn't mind in the least, so long as Njozi actually managed to get it out. She knew that her brother thought that she was not pretty, just not in the way that he would find unrelated lionesses pretty. Instantly her mind flashed to the startling white and red lioness that her brother had recently been hanging out with. Now, she was certainly beautiful, though not in the same way as Buu. Ah, but Ihlo had her own charms, and it made her giggle to think of how those charms had in turn effected Njozi. What if he actually liked her? It could be easy to fall in love with a lioness like Ihlo, who Buu thought to be rather sweet. If Njozi did like Ihlo, Buu would certainly encourage the relationship. It was just too 'cute' in her opinion.

"I'm sure she's chewed me out a few times like she has done to you or Rengo. I am not totally immune to her changes in mood. There are better ways to deal with Mother other then taking the way out with your tail between your legs. But, fine, I won't talk about how degrading I believe it to be any longer if you do not think it is my place to say so." Really, she did not like to have disagreements with her brother, and especially over another member of their family. So she opted for the easy way out, agreeing to do whatever her brother requested of her. She was still all for pleasing him and making him happy, because it made her happy to do so.

It was so good, though, to hear her brother encouraging her to take that final leap and leave home. It was just what she needed, a little reassurance from someone she trusted. Njozi had gone out into the world for a little while and he had came back whole, and was even now suggesting that she should follow her urges and leave home. Oh, and she loved him so very much for it! Suddenly she felt giddy, and moving closer to him she nuzzled her cheek against his. "All right, I'll go talk to Mother about leaving. I promise to say good bye to you before I go, so don't go off disappearing." It was so clear at this point that she wanted to leave, and because she could not hold it in she decided just to go. "I love you, so very much," she told him, and turning around she jogged away, apparently quite over-eager to find Nyunya.

“I’ll be around when you decide you need to come say your goodbyes,” he said affectionately, nuzzling her softly before she could turn away to trot off. “And I love you too, Buu,” he called, watching her slowly begin to dwindle away into the distance. He simply smiled as he watched, crimson eyes watching her. Despite the fact that she was not really his sister, but instead his great-aunt, he still felt closer to her than anyone – probably even closer than he felt to Rengo. She was truly a beautiful soul, and he could admit that even if calling her beautiful physically made him squirm.

He turned away, smiling, knowing that he had done a good thing for his beloved sister, and began walking off to his own destination and his owns dreams in the distance.
