To say he was feeling skittish was an understatement - Zimwi had grown up away from huge populations of lions, and thus he was afraid. The stone-maned white lion eyed the Pridelands far to the north warily, skin absolutely twitching and shivering. Tail curling lightly, he stared at his paws. Still he feared the brown lions, still he feared... A lot... He knew he'd have to get over his fears, though. Meeting the former Firekin so long ago had done something to help him, make him unafraid enough to not make an emberassment of himself. Orange eyes looked around, ears listening for those around him.

Of course he'd want to explore... After all, it'd been years since he'd been in the area... Climbing up a rise in the land, Bodaway closed his gold eyes and inhaled the scent of the land. Though he was getting on in years, he still felt young as he smelled things around him. Red ears flicking amid his black and maroon mane, he looked about. What he spotted - and smelled - was a blurb of white in the land. It wasn't often one saw a lion so pale, after all. Curiousity got the better of him and Bodaway moved closer, observing the white lion.

It didn't take Zimwi long to notice somebody near him. Practically jumping, he turned around and found one of the hugest lions he'd ever met or seen. Eyes widening, he shrank down and backed up. The white lion had no idea why the hulking red lion was there, but he was naturally afraid. Sliping a bit, he tumbled down the light slope he'd been lounging on, ending up on his back.

The Firekin couldn't help but tilt his head, a little surprised by the reaction. But remember what he was, Bodaway stepped back a bit. "I mean you now..." He trailed off as the other lion tumbled down the hill. "Harm.. Er..." He thought a moment, then went down another way, going around. "It's alright, I've merely never seen one such as yourself..." A part of his mind toyed with the idea of taking the unusual lion back as a slave, a prize for all his wanderings... But he decided against it, instead checking to see if the other was alright.

Recovering from his tumble, Zimwi scrambled up and backed away slightly. "H-how do I know that?" He was unsure about this lion he didn't know, unsure of how to act. All he knew was fear... Swallowing a bit, he tried standing tall. Which was pretty hard to do when he didn't even really reach the other lion's elbow.

Bodaway twitched his ears back a little, feeling a bit insulted somebody would accuse him of lying. But he realised one source of the lion's fear - The vast size difference. Bodaway was very large, and this strange lion was very... Small. He sat down, hoping this would make him less imposing. "I give you my word, may Finar-si strike me down for lying. I mean you no harm, I am but a curious old lion."

The snowy male watched the other warily, trying to relax. He meant no harm... But who was Finar-si? "Who... Who are you, exactly? And... Where do you come from...?" He was huge, Zimwi admited that. It reminded him of Akamu, actually... The sheer size... Were they related?

The fire-red male smiled, a kind and gentle one that spoke of years of experiences. "I am Bodaway of the Firekin." He lay down, laying one massive paw over the other. "And what about you, little lion? Whom might you be, and where do you come from?" He had to admit... He enjoyed meeting new lions, learning new things, and finding out about the world outside the desert. As much as he missed home... It was tantalising to the mind to think of what could be learned.

Almost emediately the ghostly lion bristled. Firekin! But his mind reminded him of Akamu, the old Firekin in the dying jungle. "Firekin... I've... I've met one before... Do you know Akamu...?" His ear flicked a bit amid the stoney mane, watching the other. "I'm Zimwi... I... I came from..." He couldn't remember where he'd been as a tiny cub, but he knew of where he'd just hailed from. "The dying jungle to the west... The Umande'mfuni." Dying jungle... It felt fitting to call it that, really. When he and Safura had left, the river was but a trickle, the vegetation drying up... How was it doing now? Was it dead? Had fire come to ravage it?

He did his best not to bristle. Even in his old age, Bodaway remembered well the distaste for the jungle-dwelling pride. "I do not know an Akamu... I might have at one point, but it's been so long..." He flicked a bug away with a glove-marked paw, almost lazily. "I am familiar, though, with the Umande'mfuni... Every Firekin of my time is. But the last I heard, the pride was dead..." His tail flicked as he pondered this. The jungle-dwellers lived on... But the fact the jungle was said to be dying... It intrigued him. It was possibly information that would prove most useful. "So, where is one such as yourself heading...?" His prior thought of enslavement came back, if only to provide direct information that the small jungle-dwellers lived on.

Finding a good spot to sit where he'd have easy escape(Or so he hoped...), Zimwi eyed the other almost warily. "My mate and I have no destination... Not right now... So long as we're both comfortable, though... That's my only hope." Though he was slowly overcoming his fear... He was still uncomfortable with other lions. "Large numbers kind of scare me..." It certainly left the Pridelands out of the question, that was for sure.

So the little lion was fearful... He still intrigued Bodaway. "Perhaps what you need is a... Kick, of sorts. It's not healthy to be afraid of some things, after all... And a pride is certainly something to not fear." His crimson-strealed black tail twitched a bit as he pondered his own words. Did he fear anything? No, no he didn't. It wasn't Firekin-like to fear such trivial and silly things.

"Maybe... But it's hard... I can't face brown-coated lions..." His ears folded back, half in shame, half... Sorrow. As if it were possible, the tiny male tried to make himself tinier, to hide in his own fluffy gray mane. "They killed my family..." He looked up, orange eyes blinking to fight tears he thought he'd long-since finished shedding. "And... everywhere I go... They're there, they're everywhere..."

The Firekin frowned, shifting his position a bit. "Well, that's a bit unfair... You're assuming all brown-coated lions are evil. Why... I have a young lion, just that coat color... Nice little guy..." The male puffed up his mane, smiling big. "Adopted him as my own. And I know Paki would never hurt anybody intentionally. Now, tell me, if everybody assumes all Firekin are big, evil brutes... Why would I adopt somebody clearly not of the Blood?"

Zimwi thought about this, brow furrowed. "Well... I don't know... But I never assumed all Firekin are evil... Akamu wasn't evil, and... You don't seem evil..." He sat back, thinking on this. Could all of his assumptions be wrong? Maybe not all of the lions were evil... Maybe, if he went somewhere, he wouldn't be called a ghost and chased away! But it still made him rather wary. After all, who wouldn't be wary?
