For a Good Time, Call... We`rika left Sevilin in the living room, keeping him preoccupied with a new shoot-'em-up video game with three blood spatter settings. He dressed quietly for work. On a Saturday. Of all ******** days! He only had two days with his Sevilin and of course he was the one to work overtime. He hadn't told his charge and hoped to just slip out without too much fuss on the Frei's side. Of course the jangle of his keys being picked up from the entrance table alerted the watery Raevan to movement and he paused his game, peering over the couch. His curious face quickly turned into a glower seeing We`rika in his work clothes. "It's Saturday...""Yeah I know,""Sooo--""This is hard enough withou' ya bitchin'...!" He immediately regretted snapping at his charge. It wasn't his fault. He looked back at Sevilin and noticed his bright blue eyes were starting to grow red and puffy. He walked over to the couch and pulled Sevilin to him, minding his wings, and wrapped his arms around the frail boy. "I'mma sorry..."Sevilin resisted like a stubborn child, but eventually clung to We`rika's concrete-caked shirt. He couldn't resist an offered hug. It was unethical. His bottom lip was stiff as he tried to keep back his tears. We`rika never cried, but Sevilin couldn't help it. He was emotional. He hid his face against the Huichol's chest and started weeping. He didn't want to be alone anymore. Nothing had changed. Oh goddamnit! "Sev'lin..." He whined, rubbing his poor Frei's back softly. "I don't want to go. I jes wanna stay here and whomp yer a** in th'new game........ It'lla ge' better, I swear... I'lla eventually save up enough money ta cu' down on hours, bu' if I dun go in I could lose th'house, I could lose ya..." He didn't even want to think about going back to prison. Finding Sevilin all cried out, he squeezed him tightly til the little Frei had to cry uncle. He received a swat to his face and a soft chuckle. "I'lla be home early okay?"Sevilin just shrugged uninterested. It's not like he could argue. He floated back to his game and put on his headphones to end the conversation. He always put them on when he didn't want to face the world.Knowing better than to push the subject, the Huichol left feeling so ashamed of himself. He really needed to do something about this. Chloe had told him of his past and he didn't want Sevilin to feel like a burden. He needed to get a babysitter or something! Sevilin wasn't picky as long as he could jabber on to someone.

WANTED! A babysitter to check on and converse with a hyperactive child. I need someone who can work a negotiable seven hours every weekday. He likes going shopping, talking, playing video games, watching TV and hugs. He doesn't eat much so don't worry about feeding him more than a glass of salt water. Pay will be negotiated on a person to person basis. If interested, please leave a message at 555-0721. [If you are interested in spending a day with Sevilin, please post a little voice message on We`rika's journal and I will get back to you. It's first come, first served one at a time. I encourage owners and non-owners to take part, however if you are a non-owner and not tightly affiliated with the lab yet, it would probably be best if We`rika bumped into you before he entrusted you with his precious Sevilin... you know... just encase you are a serial Raevan killer. It happens I repeat, do not post your interest in this thread, post your message in We`rika's journal]

The first to answer the ad was probably one of the least qualified, but it hadn't stopped her or Sevilin's Guardian from making it happen.
Alex craned her head around to make sure she had the right place, feeling a little guilty about having accepted the job in the first place. She'd been taking care of Lillian and Tyson for a while now, and it was strange to have a little time on her hands and not much to do. Her studies (the Gwee) were preparing their nests, and the woman was not stupid enough to try and continue studying pregnant and ill-tempered dragons. She would laugh at herself about it later, but she found herself far more eager to tend to people than hormonal dragons.
She had been somewhat surprised about the ad and, after verifying with Natsuki, had decided to give it a shot. It would give her a chance to actually interact with a Raevan - which she hadn't done outside of Roux, and that wasn't a positive first impression - and take her mind off of her other concerns and obligations which were sorely being neglected. It's just a couple of hours, maybe a handful of days, she reasoned with herself, what could it hurt?
So, with a knapsack over her shoulder of various games, movies and magazines, Alex found herself standing at the door of an apartment in a nice little complex on the island. She rapped her knuckles a few times on the door just to be polite.

With each knock, We`rika's moody face wrinkled further into utter irritaion. Who the ******** is knocking at this time of day? Sitting on the floor, the Huichol pulled on his steel-tipped safety boots in one pissy heave.
"We`rika!" Sevilin yelled passively to his guardian a room behind him, too lazy to turn around as he was clearly elbow-deep in video gamedom. The knocking continued. "WE`RIKA!" The little Frei sighed and pressed paused, floating over to the door and opened it completely forgetting to look out the little peep hole like We`rika taught him in case it was a debt collector.
The Raevan's smile shortened as he looked at the girl and her bag and put two and two together. "We`rika! There's a bum at the door!!" He glanced back at his bedroom, waiting for the shaman to sort this out. He just stared at the girl in fascination, trying to remember what We`rika had taught him. "We don't give out donations to the poor or Jehovah's witnesses or any rel... religious affilation..."
"We`rika! There's a bum at our door!!"
What the ********> He jumped up from the ground and raced into the living room, peeking around the door frame. Ew! Hobos! "Look, we dun give ou' donations to th-- " We`rika's tired eyes swept over the girl. She looked familiar. "Oh... er Alex righ'? From th'uhmm party... Yeeeah! Remember I said I was gonna ge' ya someone ta play with?" He looked down at Sevilin. "Ta-dah! Alex, Sevilin. Sevilin, Alex."

Alex tilted her head at the yelling behind the door. At least she knew she had the right place, recognizing the hollared name as the Guardian. That meant the voice belonged to--
--"...wow." The woman blinked at the entity that opened the door, remembering Sevilin from the recent fund raising event. He'd been ethereal from a distance, but up close, he was down-right pretty. She almost felt manly with her hair down to her mid-back, her simple work clothes...or so she thought until he started to speak. Her lips twitched into a faint smile eventually threatening to become full-fledged laughter. Alex covered her lips with her fingers, managing to maintain a grin as the man finally came to the door to correct his charge. The woman had been called many things in her years, but it was the first time she'd been called a bum. To say she was amused was an understatement.
She extended her free hand, grin still intact. "Hey We`rika," she greeted the man like an old friend, even though she had just recently learned his name. "Hi Sevilin. Nice to meet you, formally. Goodness you're a handsome one." GREAT. Hadn't even been a full minute of introductions and she was ready to stick her sandaled foot in her mouth. Alex mentally kicked herself and offered a sheepish grin, adjusting the knapsack on her shoulder. "I brought some games, since I heard you're quite the gamer. Some movies too. Although...it's nice out, so, whatever you want to do, s'your call."

Handsome, eh? Most people called him pretty, but he liked handsome a little more. Glad to have his ego rubbed, Sevilin smiled confidently and floated closer to Alex. "I like her..."
We`rika rolled his eyes at the little Raevan. It didn't take much to get on Sevilin's good side. "Oh..." The Huichol took Alex's hand and shook it quickly and absently as he fumbled around for his keys. "Sorreh, bu' I gotta go ta work... Sevilin be good!" It really didn't need to be said, but sometimes when Sevilin gets too excited he can become a handful. With a wink goodbye, he left Alex to his charge's mercy and all but sprinted down the hallway.
Sevilin watched his guardian leave and after a few moments floated up to meet Alex's gaze. "Hi!" His blue eyes didn't hold hers long as the little Frei eyed the bag curiously. He floated back into the apartment and hovered over the couch, waving Alex over. "Come sit with me!"

Alex smiled warmly at Sevilin as he floated closer, momentarily mesmorized by the Raevan. She was jerked back to reality as We`rika shook her hand, which she returned firmly and with a good-natured grin. "Have fun at work!" she called after the man playfully, having no idea what he did, realizing that a jump suit could be flattering.
That was a bit of a disturbing thought, and was quickly forgotten as her charge for the day floated up to meet her line of sight. Her bright green eyes regarded Sevilin's blue ones with kindness, receiving his greeting with a cheerful, "Hello!" She chuckled and followed him in as he took off to the couch, closing the door behind her. The woman took a quick cursory glance over the apartment as she made her way to the Raevan, sitting where he had indicated.
"All right!" she grinned at him, attention shifting towards the television. "Oh, what're you playing?" Alex dropped her shoulder so that the rucksack slid to her side, one hand resting on it lazily. "What type of games do ya like? I brought a few arcade-style shooters, some tactical thingamagubbers and the story-like ones called RPGs. You may have some but hey, didn't think it'd hurt to try." The Italian beamed at her own planning, which rarely happened outside of work, her only real concern being to entertain the delightful Sevilin.

Sevilin fiddled with the analog sticks of his controller, watching the pause button flicker mindlessly. "Oh, uhmm this new game We`rika got me! It's Zombie Bomb 3000!! Is soooo much fun!!" His giggling halted as if a sour taste suddenly sprang up in his mouth. "... It's..." He corrected. The little Frei's grin fell back into place as he looked over at Alex. "Oh! I never get to play uhmm uhh RPGs! We`rika never buys them cause he says they need too much brain power," Sevilin shrugged at the thought and laughed. He helped himself through the sack, all but sitting on his babysitter's lap.
"Ohh I like this one! Never played this one! Oh I'm still beating this one. This one looks cool! Ohh weeeird cover! Oh..." He pulled out Katamari. He wrinkled his nose. "I never got this game, it's soooo weird! We`rika plays it all the time after he smokes his... "stash" or... whatever he calls it." Another idea hit him. "Hey ya wanna piece of taffy?! We`rika thinks I don't know where he keeps it, but I found it the last time he went out!" If it wasn't for Sevilin's sweet face, his giggle could have been mistaken for devilry. Floating over the couch, he went to the cupboard and moved a few empty pans and bottles out of the way to find a broken cookie jar. Grabbing it with all his little might, he set it down on the table and groaned. It was empty. "Aww man! I only ate a few today.. I... thought there was more... Nooo! We`rika only buys me some every other week! Ah! I'lla have to wait like a whole week!"
((My dad calls Resident Evil 4 Zombie Bomb 3000... jes... footnotes for you XD ))

The woman watched the Raevan in silent contemplation, a warm smile on her lips as he talked so animatedly about his games. Alex chuckled and leaned back as her charge all but spilled himself over her legs, going through the sack with all the enthusiasm of a child. It was that thought that she had to sternly remind herself that he was a child, for all intents and purposes. His innocence and fun-loving nature only made that more clear to her.
Green eyes blinked in sudden surprise as the conversation went from video games to taffy. She wasn't entirely sure there was a link there. Her curiosity got the better as he floated off, pushing herself to stand and follow, biting her lip to keep from laughing at the sight of Sevilin hauling the jar around. "A whole week, huh? That's pretty wicked," she remarked solemnly, smile still intact. "Is there a sweet shop around here? If you're up for it, I can get you a few pieces to tide you over. I gotta get Lorenzo something anyway for leaving him today. He'll be mad he didn't get to meet you." She grinned a little at the thought of the very cross Gwee she'd be coming home to; who needed family or relationships when there was such a demanding male at home to begin with?

The little Frei whipped around, his big blue eyes bulging like a squashed bush baby. "You... You would really?! REALLY?! I like you..." He giggled and floated back to Alex, hanging on her shoulder amiably. "We dun have a uhmm... sweet shop. But the store We`rika always goes to has a candy section! It's like..... sooo awesome!! Oh my gosh!" Sevilin wiggled all over his babysitter in excitement.
"What's uhmm... Lor-Lorenzo? Oh! Is it a candy?!"

"Sevilin!" The woman laughed as the Raevan squirmed all around her, practically crawling over her in his glee. "Of course I'd do that for you, and, ah..." the Italian grinned lopsidedly, "we'll get along just fine then." Sevilin's askance of Lorenzo and being a candy made her laugh again, shaking her black hair around her face. "No, Lorenzo is my Gwee. He's a wee little dragon tyke, and he loves sweets." She squished her hands together in an exaggerated small circle, thinking Zoe would be awfully mad at being made to seem so small, even if he was a runt for his kind. "Maybe if I can come back, I'll bring him.
Now! If you want to lead the way, we can take our little walksie, kay?" Alex curled her arm through the Frei's, leading him out of the apartment like a prom date (mindful to lock the door behind herself with the key supplied to her), out of the complex and onto the warm late-summer streets.
Taking a deep, appreciative breath, Alex turned her attention to the youth on her arm, smiling widely. "So what type of taffy do ya like? I like peppermint, when they have it. Oh! And maple. Good stuff."

Even with his arm linked with Alex, Sevilin couldn't help but float over here and gawk over there, pulling the poor girl with him. "Oh, yes! Those are good! I really like the blue ones! ... I dunno what flavor they are, I jes call them blue flavor. And I liiike the orange ones mmmm! I like them all really... Ew! EXCEEEPT the black ones! GROSS! We`rika always eats those... he's weird..." Sevilin rambled on until they hit the small grocery store.
"Oh! here it is!" The sea nymph floated up to the automatic doors and waved his hands ritualistically. "Haha! I love these things! They are sooo cool! Have you been through these before? It's like... like uhh sci-fi show or something..." Sevilin floated through and floated back out, giggling. "I always think they are gonna eat me or something ha ha!" He took hold of Alex's hand and walked her through, making a beeline for the candy aisle.
Sevilin floated down the aisle in reverence, gaping at all the candy he had tried and would try soon. "Ohh look! They have the uhmm little dolphin gummies! Those are like the bessst!!" The little Frei whined and tapped the plastic box that housed them. He paused for a moment almost in thought and looked up at Alex experimentally. He kept his eyes big and doey, trying to look so innocent and hopeful. "Can I get.... two kinds of candy?"

The woman's cheeks were starting to get sore from all her laughing. Alex was all grins and bouts of laughter as Sevilin carried on from taffy flavors to sliding glass doors, giving the Raevan's hand an affectionate squeeze as she was lead down the candy aisle. "You're adorable, Sevilin," she remarked more to herself than the youth, eyes skimming over the bright packages and boxes of each sweet that begged to be bought and taken home.
Apparently, the candy wasn't the only sweet thing that begged. The Italian blinked at the Frei, somewhat caught offguard by the instant charm that the blue-haired boy exuded. Could she say no? Of course not, but she could compromise. "Weeeellll," she drew out the word as though reluctantly considering a proposal, "I suppose that would depend on how big the bag or box was. Ah!" She extended a long finger upwards, and the idea she had was nearly visible, complete with the proverbial light bulb. "You can get one big candy, two mediums or three small, how about that? Make sure you get some of that taffy for We`rika, too."
Alex was obviously never a mother, having no idea the ways sugar could affect children. Part of the problem was that she didn't have much of a sweet tooth herself, although she acted as though she was on a sugar high half the time. Deciding that if she was treating, she might as well get herself one as well, she plucked a yellow bag with red fish on it. "Swedish Fish, these things are great! I haven't seen 'em in years!"
She happily perused the section with Sevilin, almost as much as a kid as he was with the prospect of all the goodies.

"Hmmmm...." She struck a hard bargain, but it was better than getting nothing. He yoinked a plastic bag from its roller and peered about critically as if this was the last time he would ever taste sugar. Obviously, he needed some salt water taffies and filled the bag a little less than half way. he grabbed a few black ones begrudgingly for We`rika.
"What else...?" He wanted to try a new one, but there was always the risk it would be bad. So should he stick with a classic? Or branch out? Ahh, pressure! But his little dolphins called to him so he floated to the left and opened their compartment. He pulled one out and made the little gummy swim into his sack, complete with sound effects and all. He did that about ten times before he was satisfied and showed the bag to Alex. "Is that good?"
