I'm twelve and I started pointe last year, and this coming Thursday I will start pointe for the second year in a row. I was totally like you last year. OMIGOSH OMIGOSH POINTE AWESOME DUDES. Seriously. It is totally awesome, though. And it's really hard. I recommed to have rosin on your person at all times. It hurts at first, but you get used to it and soon it doesn't hurt at all. I have a pretty big foot so I wear a 5 1/2 D. It feels so cool to have them on and, for me, it sort of felt like a dream come true, you know? Anyway, hope you have fun with it!

Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be absolutely fabulous.
It does hurt a bit when you first start, but if you keep practicing, you get used to it pretty quickly. Have fun!

im 15 (ill be 16 on jan 14) and ive been en pointe for almost 5 years. its a lot of fun but also a lot of work. make sure u strengthen ur ankles alot b/c u NEED strong ankles 4 pointe. when u 1st start en pointe dont puch urself. it takes a while to learn to do different things on pointe. a few girls in my class can't do fouettes (sp?) en pointe yet eek also it will probably take a while 4 u to find the right pointe shoes. ive tried sooo many different brands!
good luck and if u hav anymore questions feel free 2 pm me!

i just turned 13 this summer and got on pointe early this year, for me it still hurts a bit after a while of dancing on them for a while, but im happy my teacher says im one of the best on pointe in the class if not the best. It doesn't hurt nearly as much as it used to though.....good luck.

I love pointe! It hurts a little in the beginning, but as long as you have good shoes that fit well and, if you want to, you can wear toe pads that make the inside nice and squishy for your toes. Pointe works differently for everyone. If you don't have a good arch in your foot, you'll wanna work on that. I don't and it's hard to get over my box sometimes. When you start pointe doesn't really make a difference. I started when I was thirteen, and I still can barely do a pirouette, but a girl in my class who just started this year can already do triples and quads. It takes a lot of dedication. You'll have to practice outside of class, if you only have ballet once or twice a week. If anything, just put on your pointe shoes and walk around your house on pointe to get used to the way the shoes feel. PM me if anyone has any questions.

i went on pointe before the summer, and three months later i did my inter foundation exam, at the start they hurt a lot because my big toes were longer than the others, but i padded the other toes with cotton wool and mow they don't hurt at all lol. unfortunately i have not been on pointe for nearly six months because i hurt my little toe in the first week of the summer hols and it is not getting any better sad i really want to go back on pointe because i love my pointe shoes and it is so boring doing pointe work without pointe shoes!!!

i'd like to take pointe sometime. but im good with just regular ballet. i don't want to risk injuring my ankle or foot. i'd might take it up in the future though.

I've been on about a month now. It's fun, a little painful, but still awesome. Make sure you go to a dance store that has a big selection of pointe shoes when you get them, because there are so many types and it's hard to find a good fit, especially if you have wide feet like me. I freaked out when I first went on, but then i searched on the net and found some good youtube videos on how to sew the ribbons and stuff like that. Good luck!

im on pointe. i was first put on pointe when i was 13. i got an injury and stopped all dance for a few years after that. now i'm starting my pointe work from scratch at a very late age.
once you find the right shoes and pads and start working hard, its fun and very satisfying. lots of things are actually easier to do on pointe than they are on flat.
