I was sitting in front of my computer when I was thinking 'why do I love to watch Doctor Who?' I finally figured it out I love to watch it because the stories are really well done it make you forget the fight scenes and badly done aliens in the older series.
So I was wondering What makes you watch Doctor Who? What make you keep coming back for more?

It's a mixture of all of the poll answers, really.
You become attached to the characters so you stick with them, even through the bad episodes.
At least, I do.

My friend recommended it like..half a year ago and since then, I watched it because it has pretty good stories. It's not really corny like some of the shows on TV, though..the Daleks and other monsters are a little corny. Those pepper shakers on wheels. I went to London and I was amazed at how many Doctor Who fans were roaming around. Because of jet lag, I didn't get to see it, but I saw this comedy show that spoofed the Cyber Men and K-9 to freak pedestrians out.

I wanted to click the doctor but then people would think im one of those people that only watch for tennant cos hes sooooo sexy. which, if you know me even a bit isnt the case at ALL. XD i meant the doctor as in character, and by character as in the fourth. but originally nine looped me in cos i liked the way he could be so serious but then at the drop of the hat make a witty comment to lighten the mood a bit. and of course if the story lines are great i love it even more and I love the show cos of the character even when episodes arent so great -cough daleksinmanhattancough-

I have many reasons for watching Doctor Who.
The main reason I suppose is that its an escape from reality. I can watch it and forget everything that happens to me in real life. In fact, I woke up a few days ago after a really bad nightmare, so I went downstairs and watched an episode of doctor Who, and it made me forget everything. smile
Other reasons are; * Sci-Fi rocks. * The characters are really interesting. * The storylines are amazing. The way Doctor Who tells its story is fantastic. * The whole idea of aliens really interests me. * The graphics are really cool. * I want to work in Television when I'm older, so watching a lot now really helps my understanding of it and how its made (Thanks to Doctor Who confidential)
I have loads more reasons, but these are the main ones.

I watch it because of the story lines and because I want to know what’s gonna happen, like when most people watch their favourite series. And I like the characters too. This also has to be the first Sci-Fi fandom that I’ve had. I’ve never really got Star Wars or Star Trek or anything like that. Urm so, yay?

Well...
~I have a interest in how things work. Especially in time travel. Yay, Time travel! ~I like the actor who plays the Tenth doctor. ~I grew up with a lot of Science fiction books, partially due to my nerdy mom. So i found Doctor Who interesting. ~I like British things. ~The characters are interesting in their own way. Even the minor characters. ~David Tennant is the shmex. >w< ~Daleks are funny.

It's a combination of things, really, sometimes depending on the story, but my main reason for watching the show is the Doctor and his companion(s).

I just plain like it. Which to me is surprising. I am very perticular about the sci fi shows I watch. I hate time travel. But there is just something about doctor who that works. I think its because I like the idea of being "rescued" from the mundane to visit different times and places.

I think I like it because of the story lines, and I find the whole concept of a man who can travel in time and regenerates very cool. I also love the TARDIS. biggrin

I think most of the sci-fi (male) fans at my school don't particularly like Doctor Who, considering that whenever I say I like Doctor Who, they give me that gonk look with the hand gestures/flailing arms: "WHY?!".
It's simple! I like it because the stories, love the stories! I love the whole time & space travel. I love the variety of characters, and how the Doctor changes their lives. And at the risk of sounded corny, I've actually learned a fair deal from it too. Granted most were trivial things that I could've learned by opening a history book, but still!!

Man.. well let's see.. I grew up as a geek, living, eating, breathing sci-fi stuff.. You know the Sci-Fi Channel? That wasn't always around, see, I remember when they used to go to sci-fi conventions and do reports at them, and film bits of the crowds and all and people were like, 'hey, why are there tv crews here?' So yeah, I've been immersed in sci-fi culture for as long as I can remember. So I did grow up watching Tom Baker as Doctor Who though I never quite understood what the hell was going on, I just knew that the Doctor was weird and traveled in a Police Box called the Tardis.
Years later, I picked up the new series and was sucked in!
Soooo.. I watch cause it's sci-fi and because of the Doctor. I keep watching cause really, any show where a character wears converse shoes. is ok in my book. (no not really, it's not the sole reason I watch, but it helps! I love converse!)

I'm a history student, so naturally, I'm fascinated by time travel. Not just backwards, but forwards as well. I find it quite exciting when they're billions of years into the future. Probably because of the awareness of the span of the universe that that brings about.
And it's just nice to have something scripted and acted when there's so much reality television around. =P
And it's exciting too. There's usually such a range of things going on that it's none too easy to grow accustomed to it. There's so many different scenarios and characters that you never know quite what's going to happen next. I like that unpredictability.
