Evelyne's traveling journal
Evelyne is a trainer from Kanto who decided to take on the Zatoa challenge. This journal is about her and the pokemon she brought along with her, a Skitty named Ayoka. Hopefully she will capture more pokemon in this new land, and become a better trainer 3nodding

07-10-12: I corrected a few things in Ayoka's profile, and put up a new poll ^_^
07-10-11: I posted the entry I had written for the RP contest. I wrote another journal entry after that, because Charm evolved! So I had to write how that happened ^^ I like how he evolved!
07-09-15: I wrote a journal entry! Evelyne and Ayoka just arrived to Katarina's port, finally! ^_^
07-09-10: Updated the post for Ayoka and my trainer info too ^^ also, removed the poll coz nobody else has one lol sweatdrop
07-09-03: One more journal entry! Evelyne has almost reached Zatao now!
07-09-02, a bit later:I fixed all the 'Zatou' and changed them to 'Zatoa' ^^; I wasn't sure which one was the right one, but now it's written Zatoa everywhere on the guild and thread so that's settled xd Edit: changed them all to Zatao lol
07-09-02: I set up the entries for Pokemon, Trainer, Battle history and RP history. I wrote down two journal entries ^_^ they were longer than what I thought I was capable of! I also added a poll, because I'm curious to know what people think of my story =D

Born:In Fuschia city, Kanto
Travels: Since she was 12, all over Kanto, then Hoenn. She wanted to get to Sinnoh but settled down a few years in her home city instead, to train and work. And then she heard of Zatao.
Small bio: Evelyne is a trainer from Kanto. However, she yearned for more challenges so as soon as she managed to save a good amount of money, she got a job on a boat to get to the new land Zatao. She had to leave her pokemon behind as there is no computer storage system up in Zatao yet. However she brought along a Skitty, a pokemon she found not long before departing. Zatao is like a dream to her, because she loves to explore and Kanto is mostly just cities now, and wild pokemon became a rarity outside the safari park. She is a trainer but with some ranger aspirations 3nodding
Likes: Ayoka, nature, pokemon, being challenged, making friends, drawing
Dislike/scared of: Huge cities, team rocket and similar groups, mean and/or noisy people, ghost pokemon (she might have passed down this fear to Ayoka, unfortunally xd )
Liked food: Anything edible and cheap. What? being short on money taught her not to be picky...

Nickname: Ayoka
Meaning: "One who causes joy"
Story behind the name: Evelyne was feeling a bit depressed and unsure if she had made the right choice when she released all of her former pokemon into the Safari Park before departing to Zatao. Some time before the big day, she found a small skitty and adopted it, swearing she'd never bring herself to the point of having to abandon a pokemon ever again. They quickly developped a strong bond. When searching over the internet on name meaning sites, she found that name and thought it fitted perfectly, because Ayoka did indeed bring her much joy ever since she found her ^^
Item held: Evelyne always makes sure Ayoka is holding an Oran berry
Age when met: She was still very much a baby, about 5 months old at most (I imagine Skitties would grow at about the same rate as real kitten, so that is young)
Current age: About 6 months old
Height when met:1" tall (without ears) and 1"6" long (without tail)
Weight when met: about 8 lbs. ** (read note below)
Current height:1"3 tall (without ears) and 2" long (without tail)

Liked food: Milk, poketreats, magikarps twisted (she ate a lot of that on the boat.

Ability: Cute charm (The opponent may be induced with ATTRACT when using
an attack that requires physical contact against this Pokémon.)
** An adult skitty is 2" tall (must be about 3" long without the tail, then) and 24 lbs (info from Serebii.net), so I figure when Ayoka reach her adult size, she will be about 1"9 tall and 2"10 long, and weight about 22 lbs at most. Evelyne doesn't intend to evolve her, or at least not until she has reached her adult size.

Story behind the name: Ayoka defeated him using a charm attack xd
Item held: Evelyne always makes sure Charm is holding an Oran berry
Age: Unknown. Fully grown but young.

Likes: Flying fast, speed, looking good and Evelyne. Ayoka is ok.
Dislikes/scared of: Not much anything, actually.
Liked food: Berries (mostly dry and sour ones), small bugs

Just before departing for Zatao
"Sorry Ayoka, I'll have to keep you inside this most of the time for a while now... don't look at me like that, it's just until we reach Zatao and I'll let you out each night, I promise!"
Evelyne sighed at the pouting kitten pokemon. "Give me a hug?" she said, with a mock-pleading tone. Ayoka turned away, her tail high with dignity. Smirking, Evelyne began to scratch behind the skitty's ears and it wasn't long before the small pokemon jumped in her arms, purring.
The 21 years old trainer was still surprised at the bond Ayoka and she had formed, in only a a couple of weeks. Actually, she had never bonded with a pokemon like that before. Of course she liked all her pokemon and she was sad to have released them at the Safari (nowadays, to leave your pokemon at the Lab, you had to be a truely elite trainer, and Evelyne, with all of her passion for pokemon, just wasn't that). But pokemon obtained in pokeshops and the safari park just weren't the same as a pokemon you'd found on your own. Evelyne smiled at the memory.
"Okay, I'll see you tonight, you silly thing!" Evelyne said with a laugh
"Ki!"
The Skitty disapeared in her pokeball and Evelyne picked up her backpack, feeling nervous but excited. A real adventure, like one she'd always dreamed about as a kid, would begin for her!

How Evelyne found Ayoka
It was a rainy evening. Evelyne was back from her job in a restaurant. She looked sadly at her bunk in the dorm of the Fuschia city pokecenter. A week ago her pokemon would have been waiting for her on it. But she had to let them go. She had debated with herself for several months, unsure if she was going to bring them with her or donating to the Safari. Releasing them in the Park felt horrible to her but she wasn't good enough of a trainer to have the privilege to leave them in the lab of Pallet Town and she knew that in Zatao, there weren't any storing system up yet. And yet going there was her life goal now, ever since she heard of new world almost one year before.
All her life she had studied pokemon and dreamed of being a travelling trainer, exploring the caves and forests and deserts and mountains.... But in Kanto, where wild pokemon were a rarity and most people lived all their life squeezed in small one-room appartments, dreams of exploring just weren't possible anymore. Now people caught pokemon in parks, the Safari in Fuschia being the biggest, or bought them in pokeshops. Sure the travelling part was still there for hardcore trainers who went from gym to gym, parks to parks, but there wasn't anything mysterious left about miles of naked roads and immenses cities that all looked the same.
Evelyne had taken her decision, finally, a week before. She still missed her pokemon but she wanted to start anew. What really decided her was an announcement in the pokecenter for a job on a boat that would go to Zatao one month later. She had already a pretty good amount of money saved and this ad was... was like a gift from Jirachi! She just couldn't pass up this opportunity!
Still she missed the company of pokemon... sighing, the girl went up the the window, staring at the rain and feeling gloom and tired from her hard day of work. She looked down and that's when she saw it... a small, dirty ball of fluff trembling and desesperately trying to get warm next to a trash bag. Evelyne's heart jumped
Oh my god, what's this???
Without thinking any more, she jumped in her shoes and ran outside. She got behind the building, stopping a moment to spot where the trash bags were left.
She'll have run away for sure..., thought Evelyne, not stopping to wonder why she apparently knew the small thing was female. She wasn't even sure was kind of pokemon it was, it had been so dirty (and it was dark outside too), it was impossible to tell. Walking slowly, afraid to make a sound, Evelyne approached the bags. The small pokemon was still there! Now she could see it was a skitty. She took another step and the creature looked up at her. It looked scared...
"Hey... what are you doing here all alone?" said Evelyne, in the softest voice she could manage. Slowly, very slowly, she kept approaching it. Now she could see it was young. Very young. About four of five months old at most. This was very strange... there weren't wild Skitties in the area (or hardly any wild pokemon, really, except for those in the park). This little one must come from a domesticated skitty's litter... and it was abandonned in the street? How cruel!. It was ridiculous to do that, thought Evelyne, when any pokemon too weak to live in the Safari was welcome to be put on adoption in pokecenters.
Evelyne was now close enough to pick up the little pokemon. It didn't seem to want to run away. It still looked scared though, maybe it was just too weak to move. Nervous, she akwardly picked up the skitty and gasped at how skinny it was. It barely weighted anything! Evelyne actually wondered how it had survived so long.
When she started walking back to the entrance, the skitty didn't fight to run like Evelyne thought it would. Instead, when she got out of the backstreet and cars were passing, the pokemon in her arm cuddled closer and hid its head under her armpit. Smiling, she opened the pokecenter's door

The day before the arrival
The sea journey passed fairly quickly; there was a lot of work to do. Each morning though, Evelyne felt bad when she returned Ayoka to her pokeball. Ayoka didn't like very much to be in there. Evelyne kept thinking how long the days must be for her pokemon, and see could barely see them passing because of how busy she was. Cleaning the boards, helping the cook, cleaning some more and helping with whatever tasks needed to be done wasn't very exciting, but at least she wasn't alone.
The day before their arrival though, everyone was given the day off. The captain, even permitted the pokemon to be out of the cabins! Ayoka was so excited to be out on the deck that Evelyne was having trouble keeping up with her. She didn't look one bit like the skinny (well, ok, maybe the skinny part was kind of still true but she DID put some weight on though!) and scared pokemon she was when Evelyne found her; she wanted to see everyone and play with all the pokemon. All the sailors and other workers were in a very good mood and friendly battles were breaking out a bit everywhere on the boat.
A sailor, the trainer of a pikachu Ayoka was playing with, even proposed a match to Evelyne but she politely declined.
"She's still very young and inexperienced, even though she's so energetic!" said Evelyne, laughing. "I can see she wants to fight sometime though. She has a fierce tackle! I think her charm is working nicely too. But your pikachu has a lot of experience, I can see that just looking at him."
"Alright if you're sure. So you gonna live in Zatao?"
"Yes! It's my dream since I'm little to be a trainer and explore and find out about pokemon first hand. Pokemon contests, parks and gyms are nice but I need to get to the real sources of being a pokemon trainer, you know?"
"Yeah, there's something wrong in the world if you ask me, when pokemon can't be found in the wild anymore! I just hope the same mistakes won't be made on Zatao. Oh well, I'm a sailor and so as long as they can't build cities on the ocean, I'll have my own world to explore and meet pokemon in!"
Evelyne nodded, smiling. They fell silent, feeling there was little more to be said between two similar minds. Instead they watched their two pokemon playing together, two happy and worryless creatures.

Finally! Katarina's port!
In the middle of excited looking young trainers, the delivery men from the boat carrying big craters, some people fishing at the dock, Evelyne and Ayoka felt overwhelmed. It seemed they could never look at everything. A small boy with a shinx ran together in front of them. Evelyne heard a woman shout "Wait for me Aaron, Shiny! Boys!"
Grinning, Evelyne took a few more moments to take it all in. It felt weird to be back on the solid ground. At first she thought the ground moved more than in the boat. But that was because after all the weeks lived on it, she had gotten used to the rocking motion. The backpack dropped on the ground, Evelyne got her map out.
"Let's see. The pokemon center should be not too far away, we go in this direction and then a right turn.. or is it a left? Ugh, reading maps has never been my strong point. Oh well, we'll ask around if we get lost. Let's go Ayoka!"
"Ki! Kitykity!" The small skitty was so excited she was already running ahead of her human partner. Laughing, Evelyne caught up with her.
