Prices of Hachi-roku are rising.... You won't find much better than the AE85 with the 3A-U engine for that price.

That's a good idea. I don't know if they make for the best drifting platform, but it's worth a look.

Not sure if their easy to drift or not, but it's definatly possible. Not sure but I think the Celica has a bit more power than a AE86 Corrolla I would not know the number off the top of my head.

the 3rd Generation Celica (A60) is the last Celica with RWD. It's known by enthusiasts as "Blackmask", and it was in production from '81 to '85.

Ah...the 86, the drifting paragon, good luck since hachi's are really disappearing nowadays... get the one with 4a-G or something...and a suspension upgrade at first because this spells the line between drifting and the wall whee

Don't all the AE86 chassis cars come with the 4A-G?

the DOHC 4A-GEU AE86 was offered in GT-APEX and GTV trims as the Corolla Levin or Sprinter Trueno.
In t3h US, the top-spec DOHC 4A-GEC was sold as the Corolla GT-S AE88, with the SOHC 4A-C AE86 bearing the Corolla SR5 tag.
so not really.
teh Hachi rouku is one of most popular of the imports since its the one that started the drifting scene through Inital D in teh US.
that car came optional with a LSD
it also came with the AE86's V-TIS equiped motor which uses a special induction system but is now replace with the VVT-i
the car is quick, 0-60 in less than 9sec, top speed of 120MPH
the AE86 was a threat to the honda Civic i believe, and now its the XRS and the Civic.

for every drift project car, they must have an upgraded suspension anyway, its a no-brainer, there is a fine line between the cars unspring height and the ground.

Yes, since civics have vtec, while 86's have L4-DOHC. The Variable Valve Timing intelligent [VVT-i] gives teh hachi a good lead. But of course it depends on the driver. Civics are also vulnerable to understeering, because of it's Front wheel drive alignment. in a game of racing, not drifting, it's a different story. mrgreen

Ehm, I'd consider the XRS a threat if there were more than like two of them in the entire country. Seems to me like the Toyota Celica and now the Scion TC pose more of a threat.

And if that's all Toyota can bring to the table, I think Honda's got this game in the bag. razz

XRS is faster, most of those bastards are in the west and east coast. production stopped when toyota ran out of left over VVTL-i motors, the TC is a girls car, its nothing but a corolla with a sport car shell, the Corolla is actually a little faster, I have raced a 2007 once, barely beat him.

Eh, I think the TC does have potential, and now that there's no Celica, that's the only coupe Toyota makes. Unless you count the Solara. Bleah.
