Bella was in a glorious mood. Life couldn't have been going better for the cream hued mare of the plains. She was healthy, she had friends (albeit they were few) and she had the entire plains to herself! Her golden hooves pounded hard against the ground, the sky stained with a glorious array of pinks, oranges, blues and purples.
The sun was setting earlier and earlier but summers heat could still be felt across the land. The evening proved to be cool, autumn's whispered presence tickling the refreshing twilights breezes. The picturesque scenaro of the painted sky only further lifted the young mares spirits.
Today. . . today she was free!
Too long had she neglected her plains, had she kept her power and speed in check. Too long had she forgotten what it was like to fly without feathers or wings. . . . .
And fly the female did!
Without a care in the world she sped over the plains, a lone spirit that danced to the song of the wild.
Life just couldn't get any better for the girl. . . .
Changing directions, her run dropped in to that of a speedy trot. Where she was going, Bella hardly knew - as a foal she had explored as much as she could! But that had been very little in the grand scheme of things. Her wanderlust had yet to be satiated and, without a care, the girl pushed forever onward.
The plain wouldn't last forever she knew. . . . But exactly where it would take her, goodness only could imagine!
Tonight was time for a new adventure. . . .
Whatever would she discover today?
((Pardon the lame intro. x] And Tweek - I was told that's who you were going to use. If you're thinking of someone else just let me know and I'll change it, for sure! 8D ))

The dark unicorn hadn't expected to do much today other then avoid those females that did his head in, there were plenty of them! He was going to have a nice calm day and attempt to keep out of trouble, as if that could ever happen. Meshach was without a doubt a trouble magnet. He created trouble no matter where he went just because he got so bored all the time.
As he was wandering today though the last thing he expected was to see the beautiful female that he could put up with. She was fun and exciting and hadn't been annoying in the slightest.
"Bella!" He called out to her, moving happily towards her. He still wasn't sure how a female could be as pretty as she was but he wouldn't worry about it though, after all she was a friend and Meshach was far to naive to know anything about anything other then friends.
"How are you?" Well today was going to be more interesting then he expected. He had someone to talk to!

Such innocence, it was a sight that was all too disgusting for a certain female.
Flying above the two creatures was a certain Kalona, who was in the foulest of moods as usual. She had been stalking the tan mare for awhile, until another useless specimen had entered the situation. A Unicorn it seemed, and from its blonde locks, Malice almost thought it was a female.
Then again, any male that was a Unicorn was worthless enough to be labeled as feminine.
Zipping herself onto a cliff, she decided to wait until the moment was right, so that she could exterminate the anger she had towards these creatures. Why did they have to plague the land? All they did was make the world weak!
And weak needed to be exterminated. That was her job, and her most favorite plight. Taking in a deep sigh, she tore her spaded tail against the ground, and awaited whatever the two would do. She took in any information about them while trying to control her malicious thoughts. 'That time will come' is all she kept reminding herself, but her overall reaction to the bloodshed that would soon happen was exciting, and she was high on the thought of killing.

The mare was ever oblivious to her present predicament. Rarely did her eyes linger upon the heavens, and when they did they were often enraptured by stars, or sunsets, storms, or rainbows. She'd grown accustomed to spotting the occasional soquili in the air but had never paid them much mind.
And today. . . . today her eyes had only been on the emptiness of the plain. It was her safety, her reassurance, her true love. Though she had a teepee and had developed a slight bond between one of the young children and herself, the golden touched female was a wild spirit. She went where she liked when she pleased - though her nature was gentle and kind, that didn't mean she was easily tamed.
Still keeping up a fast trot, the female's ears twisted as she heard her name. The wind surely hadn't whispered it but. . . . Ah-ha! A dark formed figure was making its way over to her, and the girl begrudgingly slowed her trot further. It wasn't fair nor polite to make him chase after her so. . . . . Her run could wait. Perhaps a break to catch her breath would be in order - no use spending all her energy now!
Golden eyes bright underneath the evenings sky, the mare swished her tail happily. She had recognized the lion-tailed unicorn instantly. The only other dark furred stallion she knew was Azumoth - and she doubted she'd ever see him out of his forests much less rush over to greet her. It just wasn't in his nature. . . .
Half-rearing in almost a giddy sort of nature, her adrenaline pumping from the rush, the girl hardly noticed or cared the bit of sweat that softly lined her hide. She had been running for quite some time and her panting chest proved it. Trotting happily, almost playfully around the male, the girl laughed.
"Well hello there, stranger," she greeted with a soft whinny, half-rearing up at him in an attempt to initiate play. Oh but today was glorious. Radiant smile upon her features, the girl finally forced herself to calm. Shaking out her curled, damp mane, she studied her friend. "I am doing wonderfully thank you," she chattered, voice filled with the light and joy she was inwardly feeling. "I've been out exploring a bit," she admitted, "and I surely didn't expect to find you here!"
Her smile proved that it was not a bad thing. Nothing but a pleasant surprise. Oblivious to the fact that they were far from alone, Bella pawed at the ground. "And what of you Meshach? Has life been treating you well?"
As always, her attention was firmly fixed upon the unicorn. It would be impolite and rude to allow her gaze to wander or her attention to wane. Besides, he was a friend and she truly did want to know!

There had been a shadow appear on the ground from something in the sky, Meshach had seen that but there were many birds and soquili who could fly so he hadn't paid it much attention instead he was delighted by the warm greeting from Bella who seemed to be in a very playful mood today!
"Been exploring anywhere nice? I didn't really expect to see you here either! I thought this place was normally a little deserted. I thought I could run and roll and no one would see me, it seems a beautiful mare has turned up to watch though!" He spoke in a half playful half flirtatious manner. It was slightly odd for him to do so but he didn't realise he was.
"I wonder if you would be up for a run?" He was going to probably end up running and she looked like she was all ready for one so why not make it a race? Would be more interesting that was for sure.
"We could race from here to..." He looked around and noticed the cliff. He was about to say that was where they could run to but he noticed something up there.
"What's that? On the cliff over there." He moved his head to point towards the cliff so Bella would know where he was looking. He couldn't really see what it was properly maybe it was nothing but he was curious, as per usual.

Oh.. she was spotted? Well, that made the whole hiding thing go faster, since Malice hating waiting anyways. Undoing her wings, the female swooped off of the cliff, and landed herself in front of the specimens. It was always funny to her, how much bigger she was then other worthless creatures. The intimidation was incredible, and seeing the two up close made her feel even more vicious then watching from above before. They really pissed her off, especially their dumbfounded expressions.
"Were you looking at something, fool?" she then said to the Unicorn. "Because, I would happily wipe that terrible smile off you and this girls face." she wanted to rip their stupid expressions off, and kill them to satisfy her insane thoughts. If they were dead, then she was truly fulfilling her duty.
Malice continued to watch them in a calculating manner, and her frown was a toothy one now, showing her bloodstained jaw to the flesh she would soon devour. "Which of you dies first? I think that is the game that you should be playing right now."
With one last growl, she was pumping up her body to get ready for a beautiful attack. Malice loved death, and found she trained under her father the most out of her sisters. She found his teachings most helpful, and knew she would be the best when she was older.
That was exactly the truth, afterall.

Bella had been excited to run. She was feeling quite spirited this afternoon and it showed in her every action. Cream curls swished excitedly behind her as Meshach offered a game of chase - oh, how delightful it would be!
When was the last time she'd had a shot to play with another? Azumoth certainly was too sullen for such activities - though if she worked at it maaaybe someday he'd surprise her? - and Feena well. . . she hadn't seen the green haired mare since foal hood!
It should have been a perfect end to a perfect day. . . .
But the fates weren't so kind.
As Meshach pointed out a curious sight, Bella turned and found herself staring at the winged soquili. Dark fur that appeared a gentler shade of black, mixed with a rich crimson upon wings. Two horns and a spade tail, mixed with wings that were very similar to Azumoth's! Well . . . .
Wasn't this a surprise!
Still, the more the merrier, yes?
Smile still placed firmly upon her features, quite prepared to welcome and greet the exotic looking foreigner, her smile contorted to shock as Malice spoke. What. . . . . What on earth was she talking about?
Bella could hardly believe the snarling form before her - logic screamed that this was one cruel joke. "Which of you dies first?" . . . Death!? That surely was no game, but Bella had a sinking suspicion that Malice meant every word. Ears pinning to her head, the mare gave a soft snort, golden eyes wide as she shifted uncomfortably in her stance.
This couldn't be happening. . . The plains were her safety, her freedom. Surely this stranger couldn't be so cruel. . . .
Lowering her head, Bella decided she shouldn't loose her cool. Kindness could go a long way, couldn't it? Perhaps the figure before them was merely a bit lacking in experience when it came to such niceties. Keeping her form as submissive as possible, not wanting to further enrage the beast, Bella took a chance to speak.
"We mean you no harm or offense, truly," she explained, instinct causing her to take a step back in a slow retreat. "We were just passing through. We'll surely be on our way quickly!" Wouldn't they?
Yes, of course. They could go back they way they had come. . . . Exploring for the day was officially finished.
Features still gentle and soft, she hoped Meshach would take the cue and make a hasty retreat. Malice didn't truly didn't intend to kill. . . did she?
Ah, the ignorance of youth. Bella had heard the tales of nightmares that lurked the lands - but her good hearted and ever trusting mind couldn't believe that Malice, perhaps being one of them, could go through with the slaughter of the innocent.

While Bella was being all sensible Meshach was being as far from sensible as possible. He had met another Kalona before when he was a foal and she had been the funniest thing in the world!
"Oh yeah like you could really do us any damage anyway!" He snorted and stood in front of Bella in a protective stance. He was the male after all it was his job to be the one to protect others. His dad always told him to be a gentleman though Meshach was far from that. He was up for a fight though he thought the female was just all mouth and wouldn't actually do anything. After all weren't most females idiots and pathetic anyway?

Malice, of course, was completely ignoring the female. She didn't show any kind of response to her wasted ramblings, and instead she had a solid glare on the stallion. Her eyes were turning bloodshot from how angry she was feeling, and with a loud growl, she decided to move in. Yes, there was no reason to wait. They didn't deserve any kind of response from her, unless it was violent.
Moving her quick body forward, she was seconds away from the Unicorn, and when she had finally dodged his moving body, she tore into his neck with her gruesome fangs.
She closed her eyes slightly as the blood dripped down her mouth, and she felt a sudden rush of ecstasy at how wonderful his blood had tasted.
Holding on to the chunk of flesh, she felt the unicorn struggle, and knew he was trying to pull away and get her off, and her response to his movements were simple. She took the stallion by the neck and pushed him in the other direction, hoping to make him lose his balance completely, and leave the female out in the open. Once she had let go of the stallion, she licked her teeth at the remaining blood that was all over her mouth. Goodness, that tasted good.
She knew the damage that she had done to him was a forward amount, and she tended to take things out of control right away. She didn't believe in 'mocking' or 'toying' with a prey, and slowly hurting it like other Kalonas did. She believed that it was important to be forward in her missions, and that is why, she would happily tear into them some more until she was satisfied.
Still remaining silent, she watched the stallion, while slowly looking back and forth from him to the mare. She would wait and see what the idiots would do, and judge her next move on their behaviors.

Bella was horrified - twice in less than a moment! As she had begun to take a slow but deliberate retreat from the agressive winged female, she could only gape as Meshach stepped forward and spoke. The words that left his mouth, the arrogance he displayed - my god did he have no sense!? Who the hell talked back to an obvious unstable and threatening creature??
. . . . obviously Meshach.
Flushing underneath her coat from a sudden (and very foreign) desire to want to kick the unicorn, she didn't have a chance to hiss his name and get him to shut up.
Instead, Malice made her move.
There was no questioning the kalona, there was no wondering about idle and hollow threats. Oh no. The female was good to her word and Bella couldn't help but stare in horror a second time as stallion and mare collided. Oh great spirits this was not good, and a sense of genuine fear danced up her spine.
"Meshach!" She cried, rearing on her hind legs before springing forward, closer, kicking out with her heavy front hooves in an attempt to dislodge the kalone. Thankfully - or not, depending - Malice had already let go and stood still. . . . waiting.
The fur on her neck stood up and her stomach twisted. She felt vulnerable, exposed out in the open, and very, very defenseless. But instinct stirred within the soquili and she knew that running was not an option.
Not yet at least.
Besides which, Meshach was hurt and NOBODY maimed her friends.
Pinning her ears back, Bella glared up at the creature. This was truly a monster, a beast. . . . And if reason wouldn't work than she would have no choice but to fight and defend. For once she was glad she was heavier than most soquili, her body sturdy. Maybe she'd stand a chance to protect. . .
"Stop it!" She shrieked, amber eyes still twisted in terror and horror. "Leave us alone, will you!? There's no need for this!" Bella didn't realize - couldn't realize - that Malice was NOT crazy or insane; death to the kalona was as natural as kindness was to Bella. It wasn't something to question and there was a low probability that she'd stop at command.
Bella kept her eyes on Malice, stepping forward, closer to Meshach. A lot of good he'd done. . . Though how he could provoke one so vicious she just didn't understand. "Get. . . Get out of here." Bella hoped that the tremor in her voice wasn't apparent. . . She didn't want to let on to the fact she knew very little how to fight or defend herself.
. . . . instinct, sure, but against a flying kalona?
No. Bella was far from violent or aggressive. But fast was the scenario becoming fatal. Kill or be killed, wasn't that the saying? They could try to run, sure, but something told her Malice wouldn't give up upon retreat.
Besides which there was no where to run.
The plains were empty and barren - the pair were nothing but sitting ducks.
Stamping her foot, tail swishing irritably, Bella glared. She didn't trust herself to attack, she didn't want to further provoke. There was still a small glimmer of hope within Bella, her stubborn desire to believe that civility and logic would win.
A shame she was wrong.
Kalona's were an entirely different breed.

The attack wasn't something he expected and he moved enough that seemed to make sure that she just tightened her grip though maybe it was his panic but something his mother had once said slipped into his mind. Unicorns could heal. He snorted as the Kalona finally let go of him and with some odd movement he was able to get his horn near the bite though obviously not close enough as the bite was on his neck. He hadn't a clue what he was doing but what ever it is gave him strength though he could still feel the warm blood running down his neck.
He looked at Bella and snorted as she told him to go away, yeah like she could fight this wild creature. Stupid females. Maybe Bella wasn't all that different after all.
He stood up and stared at the Kalona. He pawed at the ground with his hoof he wasn't happy. He had energy but with the blood still flowing from his neck he knew it wouldn't be clever to fight so he held his tongue and just moved in front of Bella again. This time he was ready and where the Kalona moved, so did his lowered head, his horn pointing in her direction. He didn't want to fight but he knew his horn could do some serious poking with it if need be!

The stallion was cocky, and Malice was not impressed by this. If anything, it pissed her off more, since he didn't seem to grasp onto the situation at hand. What an idiot, that surely was not a good attitude to have in life. Especially when one was one of the weaker breeds.
With deathly eyes, she looked towards the mare again, who was huffy but yet submissive. "Stop it? But if I let you live, then I would be a moron. And I shall not do such a thing like that." Was she really that naive? Where did all of these idiotic Soquili come from, thinking that their bubble of lives were always going to be surrounded with happiness.
"Nature permits me to do this.." she then growled, while bringing her eyes back on the stallion. "This is what we Kalona do.. but we mainly do it for fun." Her eyes had an insane glimmer of happiness, and that brought her to her next attack.
The stallion was going to use his horn? How silly. He didn't seem to know what he was doing, since fighting was something that many trained for. That was what her father put her through, so that she would never fail him or her family.
She decided to make her move again, and she undid her wings so she could move faster. The air felt rigid against them, and she knew that that was a good sign that her speed was fast enough. The stallion was much more aware that she would attack now, so it took Malice a number of dodgings before she could make it to her prey.
But once her mouth hit a different side of his neck, she moved her tail around her and started to tear at the skin on his side. She would make him bleed for saying such stupid comments before, and for pretending to act like a hero. There were no heros in Malice's world, since she would devour them all.
It was more fufilling for the naive mare to watch all of this, and Malice continued to eye her before pushing away the worthless stallion. She had caused him more damage then before, since she never held herself back in anyway. He was a distraction, and he needed to be pushed out of the situation.
Though it was strange.. why wouldn't they even attempt to attack her? She had been in plenty of fights before, since the animal instinct was to fight back. But these too.. they were clearly not skilled in that sort of thing.
So what now? Where would this game go? It was almost fun for Malice to watch, and she curled her tail around her and continued to watch the stallion, and she wondered if he would heal himself again. Stupid Unicorns, she obviously needed to rip that horn off herself.

((Just so you know, Remove, Bella wasn't telling Meshach to 'get out of here'. Alll of that was aimed at Malice except calling out his name. *just wanted to clarify since it was a bit vague in her post* She doesn't want Meshach to go anywhere. . . . Since two are definitely better than one! ))
Nature permitted Malice to be cruel. . . to bite. . .to draw blood . . .to pick on the innocent without guilt or remorse. Nature permitted her to touch a darker side of life, to embrace all that nightmares and fear tickled the conscious mind. . . .
Well.
If nature allowed Malice to be cruel with no regrets, than nature would surely allow Bella to protect and defend! Every moment that passed, every second she watched as Malice returned the fight. Meshach wasn't doing very well, despite the fact that he had a horn . . . .
How could she just stand there, hooves planted firmly in place? How could she scream out questions and demands while the striped unicorn took the brunt of her bites and attacks? How could she beg civility to this monster and still make no move to attack?
Instinct screamed at her to run or fight. . . . But logic, her innocence, and her zealot belief of the good heart in everything told her that she couldn't, shouldn't strike too soon! It was a terrible war for the mare -
Did she run and hope to draw Malice off Meshach in a game of chase? She wasn't fast but she had stamina. . . .then again, Malice also had wings! Did she wait until the time was right to strike? Or did she let herself fall to Malice's level - did she lash out and take a bite of a different sort of world.
All around her, with every move that Malice made, Bella's innocent world of kindness and compassion was crumbling. The defense of happy oblivion, the foundation of ignorance being bliss was shattering and there was nothing she could to do stop it.
The mare had never been stupid - she knew that nightmares and horror lurked in the world. . . She knew that happy-endings were about as rare as love everlasting. . . . But never, never did Bella suspect that she would be caught in the middle of a potential blood bath or slaughter. Never did she expect to find herself nose-to-nose with evil.
And so there was little left to do. If Meshach couldn't take on Malice, than maybe they could take her on together. He had a horn and size, she was sturdy with strength. Run and Malice would chase. . . . Civility wasn't working so that left the mare with only one choice.
Fight.
As Malice attacked, Bella made her own move. This had been the kalona's choice - her actions had left the mare no choice. And even though it hurt her to do it, even though the fear and terror caused her insides to tremble, there truly was no choice.
A flaw in Malice's plan was her arrogance, her expectation to step away from Meshach without any concern of the blond soquili. Decision made, Bella bounded forward at the kalona, fully prepared for wings or teeth or tail to touch her. But her aim wasn't for the face, or the neck, or the chest. . . . Bella didn't dare want to expose her neck so freely, didn't want to give Malice such an opportunity.
With her leap she aimed for Malice's legs, hoping to startle the kalona enough to allow Meshach time to do something - anything - with the horn! She bit at the kalona's feet, hoping to get her jaws around some part of the beast, or stamp down on a hoof, or at the very least knock her over or back . . .even just a little!
Just because she had no wings or horns or formal training didn't mean the mare was petite and weak. She was a sturdy lady. . . . That much was quickly apparent.
Bella could only hope Meshach was fast enough to take a hint. . . . They had to fight Malice together, or else they wouldn't live to see the sun set.

Meshach had watched the Kalona carefully and had made her change her mind on where to move to on more then one occasion already. He had however made a terrible mistake and he paid for it. She had his neck again but this time he moved his head and with all the strength he could from the angle he was at, head butted the Kalona, his horn trying to break her skin.
His shock was when Bella joined in and the distraction he hoped would pull the Kalona off him even so he managed to wriggle free. The distraction had been something even though he lost more blood trying to escape her jaws. He was painful, terribly painful and his eye sight was blurring but he wasn't going to have time to heal himself, not yet anyway. He turned and rammed into her side, his horn heading just below the Kalona's wing. At least that way she wasn't going to be able to fly and attack them, at least thats what the stallion hoped.
He wasn't able to see anything much now, it was all a blur of colour but he held himself in place even with his strength leaving him. He had to do this to keep Bella safe even if it did mean in the end he died. If he was going to die this Kalona was going to be unable to move first.

Finally there was some kind of challenge. Malice had put plenty of damage on the stallion, and even though the mare had messed Malice's balance off in a very strange manner, the horn into her skin felt like another piece of bloodshed to get the job done. After backing up for a moment to look at the teared skin on her own body, she turned to the two fools with her usual crazed face. At least they dared to do something to her, since before the mare was standing around as if she were worthless.
The Unicorn, in Malice's eyes, was a little threat now, so she decided to make her move towards the mare. Her skin was so light and pure, and it needed to be ripped and damaged. It screamed to Malice to do the job, and she stalked forward, starting to feel the pain in her side slightly.
She would ignore it until later, when she could rest and heal herself, and scold herself for allowing the opening in the fight.
Malice couldn't decide where she wanted to bite the mare, since her usual reaction involved the neck. The neck allowed sturdiness, and it allowed for a large loss of blood to become lost.
She could tell that the mare was going to some how try to lash and struggle, maybe even kick towards Malice, but she was ready for that kind of pain. Pain was necessary, even for herself, so she accepted it as a positive thing.
Again, when she was steps away from the mare, she decided to dig her jaw onto her lower neck and back, and she felt a blood taste that was much different then the Unicorns. It was delicious, but Malice needed to do a few other things before she could enjoy the mare's tasting.
The Kalona dug her legs around one of the mares front legs, and again around one of the back legs of the mare. It was only something she did to keep the mare still, so that Malice could continue to do damage as forcefully as she would like. Her spaded tail came around again, but this time drew blood down the mare's neck. She decided to cut her slowly, but not deeply. It felt more horrible to feel the blood drip down her body, and to feel the skin lightly ripple at the sharp edge.
This innocent mare.. what a fool.. she needed this kind of punishment..
Malice's mind was jumbled with its usual insanity, since she had a tendency to lose herself in a fight, but the Kalona female did have one flaw in her attack. She was not paying attention to the Unicorn at all, since she decided to take that risk. From his pantings and loss of blood before, she assumed that he was extremely weak. Though, the Kalona mare was not one to judge the heart of others, so who knew if the Unicorn could really stop her horrible attack on the mare.
