Roleplays will be posted; This is Jack and Wen Rou Roleplay thus far.Mekers Jack padded slightly and carefree to a nearby clearing. There was not much to be held there except a strange old staute. It looked as though it had been there for centuries, but deciding best not to think on it, he walked on by it. He could hear rushing water in the distance, and thought it could mean rapids. Which would be troublesome to cross if he couldn't find another way around. BlackFireKitsune A white tail flicked back and forth behind the statue as Jack passed by. The slender canid padded to the other side of the statue, tail curled around it, and tilted her head. Where was he going? Certainly not going to try to cross the river, was he? "If you're going to try to cross the river, friend," she began, flicking an ear, "you'd best know how to do it."
Mekers Jack stopped walking and turned to face towards the voice. Flattening his ears with uncertainty. "...Who's there.." He did not quiet see the female the way he was facing the statue. Lifting his nose to the air he could pick up the scent of another canid, and calmed down more. "Your my kind.." He whispered softly..
BlackFireKitsune "Yes, I am." With a flick of her tail, the female leaned back on her haunches, then leapt gracefully onto a second statue, a short stone column with ivy curled around it. She settled herself on it, watching him curiously with her chocolate-colored eyes. "I am called Wen Rou. What is your name?"
Without warning she leapt from the column, landing with a swish of her tail beside him, peering at him curiously. "I must repeat, though," she started again, her voice soft, "that if your intention is to cross the river, you'd best know how to do it. Is it, and do you, if so?" Mekers His eyes followed her graceful form. "Jack.." He replied somewhat awed by her. "Uh, yes it is my intention to cross the river, but only if I cannot find away around it.." He sat back on his haunches, straightening his posisiton more. "No, I do not know if I can cross it. For you see I've never tried." He tried not staring at her, but it had been awhile since he had came across another Canid. BlackFireKitsune She turned her head, watching him with one eye. "Jack. Pleasure to meet you," she said, dipping her muzzle. She turned, walking towards the sounds of rushing water. "I live in this area, Jack, and I'm very sorry, for there is but one way to get to the other side from here. The river flows from its source, atop a mountain or hill farther off. The water rushes down and crashes into a pool below, forever spraying droplets from the waterfall, and flows from there past here, and into the ocean. Again, there is but one way to get from here to the other side. You must cross the river." She flicked her tail, not looking back to see if he was following her or not. If he was, good. If not, oh well. His loss.
"I can tell you how to cross the river safely," she said with another flick of her tail. "Or would you rather I show you?" She peered back at him, brown eyes studying the other canid closely. Mekers He stood and slowly followed her, listening to her words nodding and taking in what she was saying about the river being tied to the ocean. "Only one way..." He muttered, and looked at her retreating figure. He watched her turn to look at him.. "Well.. if it is not a burden, then sure. I would love to know how to cross the river.." He smiled, showing said teeth. BlackFireKitsune Once she saw he was following, she turned to look ahead again, weaving through the trees and shrubs. "All right then, I shall show you how to cross." She flicked the tip of her tail, hoping to catch him on the nose with it. "The river is just over here," and as she said it, the sound of rushing water became more clear, until she slid under a bush and beheld the entire stretch of it before her. She turned her slender head to look left, then to the right, then looked for distinguishing marks.
"This way," she said softly, padding off to the right and continuing down the bank. "Just over here is where it is most safe to cross." Mekers His nose twitched, when the tip of her tail whisked his nose. He slightly rubbed it with his paw, and chuckled lightly. He followed her through the shrubery, and was at a loss of words when coming up on the river bank.
The river was beautiful in his eyes. He looked to Wen, and watched her walk in another direction, he followed in right behind her. "I'm happy you know of such a path, or I'd be worried.." He smiled. BlackFireKitsune She continued, though she could sense he paused due to his lack of footsteps, and kept her eyes on the river. "Just down here a bit... Oh? Yes, knowing several paths across the river is quite helpful, no need to worry. I know some places where the equines may pass without much difficulty; a healthy grown equus could cross easily with a running start. Unfortunately, if we tried, we would probably fall into the water and encounter quite a few difficulties." She suddenly seemed to spot what she was looking for, as she sprang into a sprightly run, her slender legs carrying her gracefully along the bank of the river.
"Right here, one is," she said as she stopped and turned towards the river, pointing to several large, flat stones that jutted out from the rushing water surrounding them. "They've no moss or anything covering them, so one isn't likely to slip if one were to jump across." And to demonstrate this, she leaned towards the water, stepping carefully across to the first rock. From there she hopped to the second about two feet away. The third was a bit farther, so that one required a bit of a jump, but it was an easy feat for Wen Rou. The distance between that rock and the other bank was about a foot, so she easily stepped up onto the other bank. Once she arrived she took a couple steps, turned, and peered at him across the river, waiting.
Mekers Jack flattened his ears when he came to the water's edge looking at the rocks that went across to the other side. Wen had made it look so easy. Growling slightly, and straightening up he tested his paw on the first rock.
Not slipping, he carefully stepped fully onto it. He glanced up at her, then back to the task at hand. Getting close to the edge of the rock, he lightly jumped onto the next one and stood still for a moment to register that he didn't fall.
The last one was a bit farther away, and his tail wagged slightly in anticipation. Swallowing his gut feeling he jumped to the next rock with almost too much force, for his left paw went off the rock into the water. He sqeaked and quickly sat down before going any further. If that didn't embarrass him he didn't know what would. Looking up at Wen he smiled cheesily. Then he quickly jumped onto the bank, infront of her. "..I..don't like getting wet.." He muttered, nodding to her.
"Thank you for showing me.." He glanced at her in the eyes then quickly away for he thought he'd get lost in them.
BlackFireKitsune She watched his progress crossing the river, nodding a bit after each jump, then backed up slightly to make more room for him on the bank after he joined her there. "Excellent. Just remember this spot and you should be perfectly fine crossing," said the brown-eyed female with a flick of her tail. "You're quite welcome, and," here she quirked a brow, "I've not met a canid before who was afraid of the water. I thought that dislike was reserved for felines," she said with a ghost of a smile on her muzzle.
"I like to swim, though..." She glanced at the swift water that rushed by beside them, then turned her chocolate-colored eyes on the male again. "I don't think I'd chance swimming in the river if I could help it." Mekers He walked forward more putting some distance between him and the river. "I shall remember, and it's not common I know, but I had a bad experience as a pup." He shook his fur, not wanting to remember. He glanced at her, then back to the river. "I don't know too many others who would either." His tail slightly wagged, something he had picked up on when he was little. "I only drink the water when I need to, the rain doesn't seem to bother me though..." He thought it was strange but didn't think much of it. BlackFireKitsune She gazed around as they continued, walking beside the river. "Yes, experiences when one is young shapes one's future self. Luckily all my experiences with water have been pleasant. I'm sure if you found a nice pond or lake, you could reacquaint yourself with the water. It isn't bad, it isn't out to hurt you," she said, flicking her tail and once more hoping to catch him on the nose. "As for me... Swimming is one of my favorite things to do. I love the rain, as well. It nourishes the lakes and rivers, as well as the plants and trees. It's very healthy," she said with a nod.
"Where do you make your home?" She peered behind him at him, ears perked. She always wondered where other canids stayed. "I make my home near the waterfall. Such a lovely place, so lush and green. Plenty of interesting human creations there, as well. More statues and columns and such," she said with a wave of her tail. "I'll show it to you, if you want. We're heading that way, anyway," and she pointed with her muzzle at the river, the water of which was gushing down across the riverbed in the opposite direction they were walking.
Mekers "Well, I never really thought of that.." Thinking of what Wen had suggested about getting used to the water. Who knows maybe he'd get to like it better. "I listening to the sound of rain..." He muttrered when she spoke of Rain. He perked up and looked to where she had pointed. "Ah, I'm sure that is a wonderful sight. I stay in a rocky cove. The rocks have formed some what of a shelter that I stay under. It's not too fancy but it's a nice place to stay." He assured her. "Well, I wouldn't mind seeing your home stead, not at all.." He smiled and chuckled lightly, dodging her tail flick. "You like trying to tickle my nose don't you.." His brow arched.
BlackFireKitsune She shrugged, hopping up onto a large boulder. "There is a lake at the bottom of the waterfall, before the water leaves the area in the form of the river you see beside you, and it is relatively safe. So long as you don't wander near the mouth of the river," she added.
"Rain is lovely to listen to, as well as look at." She gracefully leapt off the boulder behind a bush and continued, her soft voice floating through the lush greenery. "It's also wonderful for the environment. Flowers always look so much more invigorated after the dark clouds share their bounty." She hopped into a brisk jog, trotting through the underbrush and weaving through trees and bushes, not stopping to see if he was keeping up, she just assumed he was. "It sounds lovely. Mine isn't that beautiful, but it suits me well." She jumped over a fallen column that was covered over in ivy, looking around. "Almost there." BlackFireKitsune "That's because it is fresh, Jack," she said, trotting along with her nose in the air, not because she felt rather snooty but because she was sniffing the air, as well. "As it falls from the sky the rain catches all the little particles in the air and pulls them down to the ground with it. The only kind of particles that stay are air particles, so we can breathe. All of the others, the dust, the smells, and anything else, is pulled down and we can no longer smell it until after all the rain on the ground dries up or is absorbed. That's why it always smells so fresh and clean after it rains. The rain cleans the air to keep us healthy."
She trotted around a large boulder built into the hillside, noting the increasing volume of the water, until the river was out of sight. She continured her brisk pace, weaving through trees and bushes, until she ducked out of sight around another boulder, though her voice continued. "Luckily, the water that sprays off of the waterfall keeps the air around her perpetually clean and fresh, and the plants are always lush, never thirsty. And, for that matter, neither am I." Mekers Jack lifted his head, and stopped momentarily to sniff the area. It was indeed a nice place. Turning back forward he quickly darted off after her, following her voice and the sound of rushing water. He slid down a small dip, and jumped through some bushes and landed shortly behind her. "You know alot of water, do you not..?" He chuckled, running ahead of her looking at all the plants and things. He was happy to see a nice sight. BlackFireKitsune She laughed, flicking her tail, and hopped on top of a boulder. "Yes, I do. And a common mistake, Jack. Don't walk ahead of who's leading, especially if you don't know where to go," she told him as she watched him walking along the path, studying the flowers. With a swish of her tail she was off the boulder and behind it. Within seconds, a light splash sounded as Wen Rou dove into the lake at the bottom of the waterfall. Mekers His ears perked, and he turned towards the sound of the splash. "..." He quickly bounded off towards the sound andcame to a hault right at the waters edge. He peered down to see if he could find her. His tail wagged in anticipation and he backed up sitting on his haunches not wanting to go in.
"...Hey..this isn't funny.." He frowned slightly. He wasn't used to this. BlackFireKitsune She peered down at him from the top of a different boulder, head tilted to the side. "What isn't funny?" She hopped to another just above the water, leaning down and pushing a rock into the water with her nose. It fell into the water with a big ker-plunk. "I was merely knocking these extra rocks off the boulders. They fall from the top sometimes," she pointed to the top of the waterfall with her muzzle, "and land on these boulders. Very irritating."
She hopped onto a lower boulder, then onto the soft ground beside the lake. She padded into it until it was shoulder-height, then turned her head to look at him. "It's quite fine over here, you're welcome to join me if you want. My den is on the other side of it, anyway," and with that, she pushed off and waded out towards the middle of the lake, walking until the tips of her toes scarcely touched the bottom, then started swimming at a steady pace, ears perked. Mekers Jack blinked then sighed, "I thought you had dove into the water," he chuckled and watched her. He looked up to the top of the waterfall as she pointed. "I'm sure that would.." He turned back to look at her and watched as she entered the water. "Uhm.. I'm not sure.." he peered at the water and slightly grimanced. He stood and walked along the edge, trying to get closer to where she was without going into the water. "Alright, as much as I hate the water.. I'm going to try it out again.." He tested the water with his paw then shook it, it was cold! "Gah.." He got over the cold feeling and put a paw into a water touching the muddy bottom, his paws sunk into the gooyness. He shuddered and continued into the water. "It's cold..." He commented to her. BlackFireKitsune She let out a light chuckle, continuing to paddle across the middle of the lake. "No, merely cleaning, and yes, the water is cold. The seawater is colder, though, in my opinion. This water is relatively warm. I like the fish in here, too. As long as they don't stray too close to the mouth of the river, they've a lovely home. I'd try to catch one now, but I'm not too hungry." She kept swimming until she reached the other side, which didn't have as shallow a bank. She clambered up on top of a rock in the water, then hopped from there onto the bank. She padded off a few steps then shook out her coat, flinging water droplets everywhere. She stopped, then turned to look at him. "You're doing very well, Jack, for your first time back in the water for quite some time." After saying so, she gave her coat another good shake. Not as many droplets flew off this time, but it made her feel a bit more dry. Mekers "T-THanks..." He didn't move realatively much, but enough to go. It had been such along time, and felt weird. He peered down into the water watching fish swim around his paws. "There are alot of fish in here..." he noted. BlackFireKitsune After a third shake of her white pelt she settled herself down in the grass, watching his progress. "Don't look down into the water," she instructed, flicking her tail. "That will make your nose go under, very unpleasant if you don't intend to do so. Concentrate on what's straight ahead. It's hard to look through the water when you're looking at it from such an angle, anyway. Much easier from above," she said with a nod, stretching a bit, then reaching up with her hindpaw to rid herself of an itch behind her ear.
Mekers Jack lookedup at her and smiled sheepishly. "I see.." He started out more, and started paddling since his feet did not touch the bottom of the small water settlement. He did a turn, then start swimming towards where she was, finding it a bit hard to find a bottom near the edge he had to pull himself out of the water. Slightly breathless, he shook his fur right by her getting her wet again. His fur somewhat stuck out in all directions. "..Gahh.." He got down and rolled around in the grass. "Well..that wasn't that bad I guess.." He looked to her.
BlackFireKitsune She stuck her tongue out at him, then shook herself off a fourth time. She stopped and noticed his fur, and couldn't help but laugh. She had never seen that happen to anyone before, and it was terribly amusing. Before he could shake off again to get more water on her, she hopped through the bushes towards her den. "You did very well!" She called back to him, rushing through the grass and underbrush faster than before. Maybe he could keep up as well this time? She certainly wanted to see if he could. "Nearly there!"
Mekers Jack rolled and pushed off his feet taking off after her, slightly shaking his fur more along the way. He jumped over a bush and sprinted to catch up with her. He could see her flowing tail just ahead of him. "Well I'm happy to see your not fully running.." He bounded up beside her, now there not being anything large or bushes to get in the way of his sprinting. He was used to open areas not so much woodland. "Is that your den up ahead?"
BlackFireKitsune Up ahead? Silly boy. "No, not up ahead. It's right here." She made a sudden turn through a bush, a large one that grew in front of a sheer rock wall. She clambered through the bush quickly, then climbed inside a circular hole in the rock and ground. She trotted noiselessly inside the cavern into the inky blackness. "This way," she whispered softly, trotting along on padded paws, her white tail swishing in the darkness. "It takes another minute or two to get to the inside."
Mekers Jack had to turn around and follow her. He went through the bush and watched her go into a small hole in the rock. "Ah, I see.." He bounded up and followed her into it. "How far does this fgo back into the rocks anyway?" He asked her, sniffing and hearing his way after her. His eyes hadn't adjusted to the darkness yet.
BlackFireKitsune "I'm not sure. Just another minute or two." She made a sudden left turn, following the only path through the earth, and trotted along silently, staring straight ahead. After another moment or two they descended into the large part of her den. "Here we are!" She trotted over to the left again, clambering up onto a large rock set against the wall. She placed her front paws onto the wall, poking around with her nose. She carefully slipped her mouth around a fairly large rock; it wasn't big enough that she couldn't pick it up with her mouth, but it wasn't the size of a pebble, either. She pulled it from the wall, then dropped it down onto the ground. She pulled out another one, then dropped it with its twin. The purpose of her actions were clear as soon as she performed them. A small beam of light flooded in through the hole to hit the opposite wall, becoming larger after the second rock. It wasn't much, but the cave became dimly lit. "There, much better. I learned that little trick after I found this place. I can only move those two, though. The others won't budge."
Mekers Jack slightly stumbled over one rock gutting up from the floor, and slightly squeaked. He looked around and listened to what she was doing then saw the light come through. "Ahh.. nice.." He trotted about the place. "It's more spacious them my place.." He smiled at her over his shoulder.
BlackFireKitsune "Yes, I like it. I find the space useful." She hopped gracefully onto the floor of her den, looking around at it. It had been a while since she'd studied it, and nothing seemed out of order. With a satisfied nod, she hopped over into the corner, she carefully laid herself down on a bed of large leaves from what must've been a palm tree. She flicked her tail a bit, watching him closely. How long did she intend to let him wander around her den? It made her feel a bit uncomfortable, she hadn't had visitors in a long while. Maybe she could get him to show her his den? "Where's your den, Jack?" Mekers "I live near a rocky revean. The rocks make my home sort of like yours does.." he replied to her. He sniffed around, a habit of his. "You keep this place rather nice don't you.." He looked over to her, then went around again.
BlackFireKitsune She flicked her tail and nodded, sniffing the air a bit without moving much else. "Yes, I do. I like it clean in here, it makes me feel better somehow. Too much mess, too much chaos, not enough peace or balance." She stretched, then hopped off her bed and walked past him, attempting to flick his nose with the tip of her tail as she went. She hopped into the pathway and began trotting noiselessly along. "Come on, then. I'd like to see your den now." Mekers Jack chuckled, and followed her. She had scaresly missed his nose with her tail. He kept walking until they came to the entrance. "Alright, I guess I'll lead.. We're a decent ways from it.." He peered at her, "Are you sure you want to go out of your way to see it?" He wanted to make sure she was willing to go a good distance.
BlackFireKitsune She flicked her tail again, trotting along. "Yes, I'm sure I'd like to see it. You saw my den, now I want to see yours." She emerged into the open air, then turned to look at him. "Yes, you lead, I'll follow." Mekers "Very well then," He started down the small hillish side and back into the forest area. "I'll have to warn you.." He said looking back at her, "It's nothing special.." He smiled, then started east. He kept an easy pace to keep up with, and stopped once in awhile to sniff the air, making sure they were headed in the right direction. "You see, I'm a wanderer. I usually don't stay at my den, I just find a nice place to rest, and there I stay for a day or two and I'm off once again." BlackFireKitsune She trotted along behind him, her chocolate brown eyes darting around and studying everything. She glanced up at him, ears perked, and flicked her white tail. "I'm sure it's special. It's where you live, that makes it special. And I like to wander, as well, but staying at my den is always nice. I try to stay in it as often as possible. It's nice, and it also helps to prevent anyone else from moving into it." Mekers "Yeah, mine is slightly hidden. Though it's not that big, so if another creature any bigger then a canid tried taking it, it really wouldn't work out for them." He chuckled, thinkning of a drake getting stuck in the entrace.. "Well if you put it in a perspective like that, then yeah I guess it's special."
"We're going to have to cross that stream again.." He commented. He could smell the water, and new that they would be getting closer. BlackFireKitsune "I don't know what type of creature would try to take it besides a canid. As far as I know, equus don't take to dens, rhancoderons live in the sea, and ridgebacks stick to the mountains. I don't know about drakes, but I've seen a couple of those stick to the trees. I'm not sure if all of them live in trees, though," she said, flicking her tail, and trotted along. "Hidden dens are good dens. If they were out in the open, you're not as protected. Oh, the river? Wonderful!" And with that, she bounded off towards the body of water in question, immediately beginning to hop across the stones to the other side. Mekers He bounded after her going across sthe rocks a little more easier this time. Being that he was somewhat more at ease with the water now, but it still wasn't a good idea to fall in the river, for the rapid would take you under. "Well once across the river, we'll have to pass those statues again." He chuckled, back tracking could be fun, then again it could be interesting too. You can find things that you might have missed. BlackFireKitsune She quirked a brow, but dismissed it. "All right, back past the statues again," and with that she trotted along towards them. She didn't mind back-tracking, it was nice to study the statues and columns, as well as the flowers and other things. "Do you live alone in your den, or do you have siblings or parents? Anyone?" She was alone, obviously, and it was an amusing thought that others might live with their relatives. Wouldn't it make the den much more crowded than it should be? Mekers "Yes, I'm pretty much of a loner I guess, no realatives with me since i was nothing but a pup." His ears flattented slightly at the regret of leaving his family at such an early age. He was lost in thought for awhile until, not watching where he was going sort of stumbled over his own two feet. "WhOa.." He hurried and staighted up, "Hehe.. I left my parents at a very young age. I never really went back to see them, so I really don't know where they are now.." He looked up to see the statues coming into view. BlackFireKitsune She nodded, trotting along. "I left mine when I was young, as well, though it was more their choice than mine," she explained, gracefully leaping over a fallen statue. She glanced at the ivy-colored sculptures as they passed, the ruins left by the humans from long ago. It was both incredibly intriguing and sad to her to see them. How the humans had made them so strong and sturdy was a mystery to her. Even now, they still remained, after the humans who created them had disappeared. Why didn't the humans last as long as their creations? Mekers Jack turned to look at her, her eyes seemed as though they were distant. He thought she must be in deep thought. "Their choice?" He repeated wondering if he should press the issue or not. His tail twitched slightly, he could feel his fur stand on end, and he shivered. Strange for how warm it was..
