The ocean was vast, the water was bone chillingly cold to the one's who allowed it to be such, and held enemies at every twist and turn of a current. Nyrukin knew this to be true, for it was so much more then that without the protective eyes of another to watch his back. It was rather unsettling, but the young orca had grown to accept such feelings day in and day out. And once again, the twilight of dawn touched the translucent blue waters, hardly warming more then the surface. For a moment longer the male idled in and out of his loosely based sleep, every minute or so waking himself with the uncertainty of his surroundings, and drifting upwards to grab another quick breath. As it was though, he should really start getting active before the rest of the ocean beat him too it, and as such gave a single swift flip of his tail to propel himself upwards. Another deep breath, and he'd be on his way.

Another creature was rising from the deep, her mangled body hidden well until the subnlight hit it, revealing every scar and missing piece of flesh. With a swift movement she broke the surface, taking a long breath before going back under. Her pale eyes scanned the area before settling on the young whale near her. Her eyes lit up, and she smiled at the sight. The first whale she had met in quite a long time. She was pleased, and she started to swim towards him.
"Greetings." Her voice was soft but deep, and she spoke with an air of royalty. "I am Athari, messenger of Maachio'Machwa. Who are you?" She asked, her eyes searching him. He seemed as good a candidate as any to join her. She hoped the Gods would be pleased with her after collecting his soul.

The air seemed brisk this morning, and it packed a nice kick to his lungs; which caused him to suck in yet another deep breath, before angling his head downwards and diving back towards the sea below. However, it wasn't an unlucky school of fish that caught his eye this morning, but rather another shape so near to him. It was large, he figured, larger then himself at least. Such things were very unsettling for the young orca, as he slowly swiveled around to get a better look.
Strangely, it spoke to him. Well gosh darn it, another whale! It was lonely here in the deep, and he didn't want to give up any chance of a companionship, no matter how breif, to such things as shyness or a timid vice. He had lost that long ago, after learning that such places out here wouldn't tolerate it. No, one must be swift, and one must be quick to action to survice. Not now though, not with another whale and another chance. With another flip of his tail he had started to swim over as well, blinking the dwindling sleep from his ice blue eyes. "Hello there", he returned, rather eager as a young one would. As he got closer, he did happen notice the other's condition, which got a curious look out of him. Certainly this one knew how to hold its own. Certainly it too knew of the risks of being out here. However, the mention of a messenger did get an odd c**k of his head, eyeing the scared female with a single icy eye. "Nyrukin, my name is Nyrukin. Who, if I may ask, is this Maachio'Machwa?" He certainly sounded important, otherwise he wouldn't have messengers. Unless all pods had that... he wasn't quite sure.

Athari watched the younger whale as he spoke, and a look of surprise crossed her face. "You do not know of the Gods?" She asked, though in her head wheels were grinding quickly. This young whale would be a perfect addition to her pod if she could get him to understand how important the Gods were.
"Maachio'Machwa is the Whale God." She said, nodding sagely, "I am his messenger. He tells me things, and I relate them back to the whales of the ocean." She left out the fact that she hadn't been visited again by the whale God since her sickness as a calf, but she found that fact void.
"I can tell you many things about Him, and all of His glory. He created us, and He created the Ocean. He created all the creatures in it, which is why whales are the largest and most powerful beings here." As she spoke she swam a little closer to him, her wounded fins slowly moving in the icy water.

To say the least, this interested the young whale quite a bit. The thought of Gods hadn't really crossed his mind before, but there had to be something out there, right? Certainly they didn't just appear out of now where then. As he listened however, the male happened to swim fourth and back, watching the scarred female from all angles and taking in every eye-catching mark. He had never seen so many scars or knicks on a single whale, and with his logic considered her to be at least a fair fighter. How else would she survive? Unless something else had happened, something tragic indeed, but that wasn't quite as appealing as the former.
Hearing that Maachio'Machwa had indeed created all he knows, the young Nyrukin took to idleing in the water once more, his head bobbing upwardsy as if to perhaps get another look at what's beyond the water. Where would he be then? Up in the blue sky, way down in the depths of the dark ocean bottom, he couldn't quite figure it out.
Returning his attention to the approaching female he quickly closed the gap between them with a few flicks of his own tail, wanting to know more. "Where is he?" it was a bit of a curious remark, and perhaps a bit odd considering it was the only thing he actually said about it.

Athari chuckled at the question, "He is everywhere." She said simply, smiling. "He is in us, he is in the water, the air, the ground, everywhere. He doesn't have a mortal shape, but when we die, if we embrace him while living, our souls will be forever watched over him in eternal salvation." She spoke almost casually, as if she'd said it a hundred times before.
"If you join me and embrace the Gods wishes, you too will be saved." She let him look at her scars, she was not defensive abiout them, nor proud. They were there because that was what happened to her, no epic battles or sea monsters, just her life.
