Warning: Most probably uninteresting rant ahead. :B
Normally I'm not very good at suspending my belief for movies or TV shows (though I am for books). @_@ But I can do it enough to enjoy the show for the most part, except for one thing, and unfortunately Doctor Who has a bad habit of doing this a LOT. Actually, ALL science fiction does. >.>
I hate it when people refer to an entire planet or an entire species as something. Like, "So-and-so is a forest/desert/rainy/etc. planet!" Or "Such-and-such-species is an aggresive/peaceful/beuracratic/imaginative/intelligent/etc. race". Look at our planet! There isn't just one climate everywhere and every time! Look at humans! You can't use one adjective to describe every single person! It's silly.
I also hate it when they say that a planet all has one government cuz seriously, once again, look at our planet, but that's a little more believable because who knows what Earth governments will be like by the time we have any sort of advanced space technology? @_@
I'm done. Discuss whatever the hell you want. : D

Hm, you have a point there. I’ve never really noticed. But if you think about it, other planets might be different to ours. Like for example, anyone says the Mars is just a red desert. And a million billion years ago, our planet was just a piece of burning rock in space at one point.

And a million billion years ago, our planet was just a piece of burning rock in space at one point. Sure, but both Mars and the Earth at that point were inhospitable. And even so, certain parts of both are/were hotter or colder than others, and both had/have seasons, which is WHY Earth now has so many different landscapes. :B

Yea... sometimes it's annoying when a character seemingly automatically knows everything about a race.
Another thing is (and this has been noticed by everyone) is that there are many worlds that look the same. IE on Stargate every world has the same forest!! In SGA Shephard even noticed this and McKay was even gonna EXPLAIN it but was interrupted *lmao*

Yeah, that really bugs me too. The worst ever is that people think the Slitheen are the only "race" on Raxacoricofallaptatorius, when actually, Slitheen is their surname. That bugs me. And the fact that there is only Raxacoricofallapatorians on that planet. Look at Earth. How many species are on this planet?!!? Humas may be the dominant race, but really, it just annoys the hell outta me.

Watch the story The Keys of Marinus. It's a pretty silly story, but highly entertaining in its silliness.
Anyway, KoM actually tries to have a varied planet; in each episode of the serial they have to visit an area with a different climate and culture going on.Galaxy_defender Yeah, that really bugs me too. I don't have a problem with there only being one dominant species on Raxacoricofallapatorius though. If they're as cruel as they sound from Blon's description of their form of execution, then I think they might have wiped out any competing intelligent lifeforms.

Any character whose main comic device is a slew of bad fart jokes will never make it into my good books. Add that they look as though the designers couldn't decide if they wanted them to be fearsome or cute and ended up with a repulsive mix that was neither and you've just got one big disaster. >.> I hate them.

I've got to agree on that, although I did like Harriet Jones in AoL/WW3 at least. And I really enjoyed Boomtown (which was almost entirely human!Blon instead of alien!Blon.)

^I was going to say the whole "wiped out other intelligent beings" thing, but Swift beat me to it.
