This dreary Tuesday had even the average Cherryville townsperson a bit down. Work week starting up again, the clouds threatening rain, and it was only about 10am so there was still a long day ahead.
Alistair thought it would be a nice, mellow day for him, however. He thought he'd be able to barricade himself in his office and go through files and attempt to hack into a certain black haired Terra's new guardians' credit card accounts, when Talula had come pounding on his door. The strange woman's tube decided to drain and release the confined child within a little earlier than they expected, and hastily after sending the commands for Becca's transmitter to turn red they tried to situate the new girl while waiting for pickup. The children from the tubes were, in the past two experiences, somewhat incoherent at first; all the new sensations of sight, touch, smell, and the only recently introduced sound rushing into them at once in a sudden wave even a newborn baby couldn't compare to. Never being 'awake' in any sort of womb they spent their life up until then unconscious in a dream like state unaware of what was going on around them... almost; and at least there had been the transmitters.
They started off dressed in a very uncomfortable material the Origin Scientists manufactured to grow and mend with the individual Terra. the first order of business was usually to see the Terra dressed into something more comfortable, and this was usually done before their guardians could collect them. It spared the guardian from seeing their new child in the odd, cold, scientifically emotionally removed outfit and instead in something a little more child like and normal.
Noire heard that this new girl was in Talulabelle's office - the front office with happy decore and annoying pop music playing on the cheap boombox. The moment Talulabelle left the office to see if Becca had arrived yet Noire slipped in; anxiously looking around to see if this was where the new girl was.

At first Becca didn't notice that the change in the walkie talkie type device she carried around with her. This was mainly due to the fact that she was working and that trans-whatsit was in her apron pocket. Obviously that wasn't easily seen. But when Jamie, bored of his maze book, came over to chat with his "sister" aka the device he pointed out quite accurately, "Momma, it turned red!"
Her immediate reaction was "oh s**t it broke". And there was no way in hell she was going to play with it and try to make it work properly again. No, she was barely able to work her simple cash-register correctly. Instead she waited for the last customer to leave and closed up the cafe' early. Having no vehical, since that was obviously a disaster waiting to happen, she was forced to take the young toddler with her on a bus to "Cherryville" where the place she had recieved the trans-whatsit from was located.
So many sluggish minutes and lap-held coloring books later they finally arrived at the building. Becca walked straight in, a woman with a mission, followed curiously by her young "son" who was simply facinated to be somewhere new.
The new girl was, in fact, in the office Noire had decided to investigate. Though the reason for her being there was beyond her, as many things seemed to be right now. She was sitting in a small chair slightly bent over as she peered carefully arond the room, her eyes blinking more often then normal as they adjusted to use. Her fingers traced the edges of her skirt experimentally before turning her head slightly and catching sight of another new discovery: Noire.

Talulabelle had been standing in the front part of the compound waiting Becca. At the moment, however, she was looking down into a clipboard as she quickly scribbled down various things; one could only guess about the new child. Alistair was the first one to see Becca, as he walked out of another door carrying some papers himself.
At first he said nothing, looking her over. He blinked a few times at Jamie and curled his lip, smaller children? Disgusting. "Ah, Becca, took you a little longer than we hoped... She's in the office, we have some papers for you to sign." He nodded efficiently, walking toward Becca, caring to lightly kick Talula's shin when he passed her to get her attention.
Talula finally realized what was going on, quickly looked up to Becca and then Jamie. "You have another!" She said, arabic like accent heavy and speech oddly formed. "Hello!" She said cheerily, waving at Jamie, obviously having the contrary reaction to her partner about small children.
Noire grinned quickly in Alisa's direction. "Hi!" She said, hopping a little where she stood. "You are another girl! That's AWESOME. I SO don't need another brother! Oh, but you probably have a family coming to get you, don't you? Here's hoping you don't have a brother! They SUCK! What's your name?! Do you know yet?! Did you just get outta the tube?! TRIP ain't it!?" ...Of course, some Terra have already been heavily influenced by ghetto rock star talk which even transmitters and planetary influence couldn't explain.

Becca did not take to snide remarks, especially from humans. It was like being spit upon by a rabbit. She would not lower herself to making excuses to someone who really didn't deserve them. And while she was about to make a comment in return about how she would wait a couple of days next time that was quickly tossed out of the way when he continued. Who was in the office?
"What are you talking about? I came here because the tras-whatsit broke," Becca said simply, holding the "broken" contraption in her hand to show the red light clearly where the green one had been earlier in the day.
Jamie blinked at the two strangers. He had thought they were coming to pick up his sister...they didn't look like they'd be his sibling. But he was pleased by Talula's friendly greeting and waved back, smiling sweetly and blinking up at her with his pretty blue eyes, "llo!" Then seeming to pause he added, "'llo ma'am."
The girl stared at Noire blankly with confusion. Her mouth parted for a moment, her hesitation either from the "new" sensation of talking or being unable to figure out what she wanted to say, exactly, in responce to all those questions. "I don't know," she finally managed flatly, sounding far less enthusiastic than Noire. Her voice was almost a drawl, but it was too soft to have the bite of one.

Alistair stared blankly at Becca, looking at her as though she might be a 'special' type of person. "Are you..from Cherryville?" He asked slowly, before tossing his head to the side. "Nevermind. It's not broken, I thought that was made clear? It means your child has, ah, what's a good word.. hatched? She's in the office waiting for you." Alistair said, while moving to shove the small pile of papers he had into Becca's arms. "Sign these. Confidentiality, participation agreements, so on and so forth. Do you have a master card?"
Talula grinned, trying to figure out what the boy was saying by the shapes his mouth was making. "Aren't you precious? You excited to meet your sister? She seems well behaved, at least.. much more quiet than Noire was, though. We already got her into some more comfortable clothes and I gave her a toy puppet... Oh, did I give it to her yet? It's somewhere!" Talula looked alarmed, turning around in a full 360 before a lightbulb came on in her mind. "It's in the storage room! Wanna come get it with me? Give your mother some time to meet your sister alone before we all descend on her at once?" She asked toward Jamie, looking at Becca for permission.
Noire frowned a moment, crossing her arms. "You don't know?! Ain't that talkative, are you? Guess you are just a bit confused. Hey, did Talula give you the complementary toy yet?! I got this hat." She pointed at the hat on her head and frowned again. "Kinda a rip off if you ask me. She said it reminded her of my daddy. Think you got a daddy or a mommy? Maybe both, I guess, but I doubt it - nobody stays married on this planet!"

Becca scowled at the stack of papers as if it were a pile of dirty dishes. "Of course I don't have such a thing!" she scoffed as if it were the most rediculous idea she had ever heard. Like most of her kind, she didn't like dealing with business men, bankers, credit agencies, and the like. They were used to more intimate societies so such things as written contracts and underlying payments were absurd. She managed to give Jamie a firm look before returning to flipping through pages of pointless words, "That's fine, but be good, you hear?"
Jamie nodded eagerly, bobbing his fluffy head up and down with enthusiasm, "Yes, 'bery 'cited!" How could a new sibling not be exciting? And toys? He knew he loved toys! He bet his sister felt the same. "Yes, let got get it for her," he agreed with a serious nod, hoping the toy would make his new sister smile. He liked seeing people smile. At his mother's command he dropped his head a little in obedience, "Yes momma!"
The girl was finding the number of Noire's questions more confusing then the actual content. Sorthing through them all mentally the tried to decide which ones needed answering, since the other girl didn't seem to be giving her a lot of time to do so and she needed to use that time wisely. "No..." she murmured, first addressing the toy question, "I didn't...get anything but these clothes." Then she had to pause again, for the other question she labled important was a little confusing in its own right. "Well...when I was...in that um....tube...I heard a woman and...someone else."

Alistair gave a heavy sigh. "Any funds at all?" He asked, sounding disappointed. With a half hearted shrug he tossed his head again, this time fully swinging it side to side as though he were mentally singing a song. "She doesn't seem overly 'special' so I suppose it's just as well. No obvious mind control abilities. No balls of searing flame." Remembering where he was, Alistair looked back at Becca and promptly handed her a pen. "Sign the first two before you see her, you can get to the rest later." The first page was a tiring page that was basically a 'participation' contract, promising that the guardian would bring the child to the compound whenever possible.
The second was a confidentiality agreement; none of the confidentiality about whats or whys was overly clear, however.
Talula smiled, motioning animatedly for the boy to follow her as she headed to a door on the other side of the room. "There may be something there for you, too!" She said, happy to try and bribe happiness out of the children.
Noire nodded, "Mommy then." She gave a sigh and shook her head, "Another one? Maybe your mommy has a daddy. Or a boyfriend or whatever, but I guess we will find out soon, right? Talula forgot your toy, though? That doesn't seem like her! Hopefully you will get something better than a hat!" She pulled off her hat and threw it playfully at Alisa, more or less trying to see what she would do.

Becca felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Had she been in her wolf form it would have been her hackles. "Of course I do," she said, struggling not to sound offended. She wasn't stupid after all. "I just don't waste my time with all those credit agencies or whatever." She attempted to make a start at reading the papers in great detail, but finding that she felt she was being hurried along she skimmed, which suited the situation fine. She might have trouble with technology, but that didn't mean she wasn't an advid reader. She signed where it was required and gave the papers back, since he seemed inclined to finish the rest later.
This of course brought a wide smile to the little boy's face. It also seemed to give speed to his steps, for he hurried after Talula and was able to keep up despite his tiny legs. "Toys~" he chirped happily. He wondered if there were any good trucks or spaceships. Sure, he wanted to get his new sister something but...how could one resist something so wonderful as a new plaything?
She blinked, not even trying to catch the hat as it was tossed her way. When it hit the floor, however, she did lean forward, her braid slipping off her shoulder. Picking it up she looked at it thoughtfully. It wasn't quite her style...that much she knew. "Yes...that would be...dreadful," she agreed, her voice taking on a bit of a characteristic drawl. Aparently she was getting over the shock of being "born".

Alistair shook his head a little, "Uh huh." He said, smirking as he watched her and fed a little off her annoyment. "Did I suggest you were stupid? Silly me. This way, hurry up." Alistair said, taking the papers back and turning toward the door without missing a beat. He looked back once and then turned the door to the office, throwing it open for Becca to go through and meet her new charge.
Noire blinked a few times, "The hat isn't that bad!" She protested, moving to snatch the hat back. "Sides', it covers up my hair.. my stupid brother put gum in it and I hadda' cut it." She pouted profusely, eyeing Alisa's braid. "My hair used to be even longer than yours! Well. You know. The long side of it." She snickered.
Talula brought the boy to a small storage room littered with toys; though they seemed to be geared more toward Terra kids' age. "There might be a ball or firetruck somewhere; what do you think your sister would like?" And of course there was bound to be a big rubber ball somewhere, maybe a firetruck - in fact, one right next to a little puppet bird in the corner.

Becca gritted her teeth, but not strong enough to show through to her expression. That man was just nearly throwing "bite me" in her face. And she would gladly do so if it were convinient. Finding it wasn't she trailed after him, looking miffed. The sooner she could get back to her cafe' the better. She did not appreciate dealing with these stuck up humans. Well, they were stuck up in her mind.
Jamie looked around with a look of awe on his chubby little face. There were so many! He didn't even seem to care that most of them were a little out of his range, so to speak. He bounced into the room, darting from one area to another as he looked at everything, clearly overwelmed, in a good way. Finally he caught sight of the firetruck, however. He picked it up and immediately began moving its tires and pulling the small ladder in and out.
"Why'd you let him put gum in it?" she asked dully, not fighting Noire when she took the hat back. It wasn't like she wanted it. Noire's obvious humor towards her half-braided hair style didn't really bother her for some reason. Not that she knew what it looked like at this point. But she had a feeling it was...normal. At least for her.

Alistair looked up again and shook his head at Becca, "Well, hurry up, I've other things I need to do today!" He said, standing a little more out of the doorway for her to go in.
Talula grinned and walked over to Jamie, "I guess you picked out your toy, eh? Lets find something for your sister quick, I bet she's waiting by now. Any ideas? Maybe a doll?"
"I didn't LET him, you twit!" Noire muttered, looking over when the door was opened. "I guess that's your mom.." She muttered under her breath, moving to sit on the loveseat next to Alisa quickly, almost all too innocently. She smiled at Alistair, although he didn't notice her; knowing full well she wasn't supposed to be in the room yet. "I bet she's a cyclops." She whispered to Alisa.

"No, cyclops have one eye, if you didn't know," Becca stated simply towards Noire as she came in. It didn't matter how softly you whispered-she had excellent hearing. "And I clearly have too. I'd recheck your races a bit," she continued going over to stand before the two girls. She then bent down, so that she was on the same eyelevel, "So, which of the two of you will be coming to stay with me, hmm?" She managed to sound relatively friendly, considering she had been irratated not a moment before.
The girl blinked thoughtfully at the strange woman and then nodded her head slightly, "I am..." She still didn't know her name. Nice.
Jamie's eyes widened at the thought of keeping her waiting. Oh no! "Um....!" He looked about and picked the first thing he saw. He held it in his pudgy fingers for a moment, making sure it was a cool toy after all. It was a bird or something...not sure if it was a suitable gift he held it up to Talula, "This?"

Alistair snorted, "So if you aren't a cyclops, you're a..?" He looked up, eyes narrowing quickly on Noire. "Noire! What are you!"
"NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, STUPID!" Noire immediately yelled, jumping to her feet. "Save me, cyclops lady!" She declared pathetically, running around to cling to Becca's leg while throwing a grin in Alisa's direction. "If your mom can kill Alistair she's the new leader!"
Alistair scoffed, "I knew we should of kept those cow tranquilizers.."
Talula looked at the toy the boy had and then nodded. "That will do, I think. Come on, wan't a ride?" She asked, moving to take the two toys in one arm and offer the other out to the little boy to be carried.

"Why don't you guess?" she challenged, her pride still a bit sore. She didn't like Alistair much, that was obvious. But that wouldn't lead her to anything as petty as an outburst nor anything as crazy as what Noire suggested. She didn't push Noire away, but she didn't exactly make any sort of effort to shield her. It wasn't her business.
"If it's so grand a prize...why don't you do it?" Alisa asked simply, though she seemed rather indiffernt to the matter. Yes, even with Alistair threatening the children with cow tranquilizers. She was too busy giving Becca a good look over. So this was her mother right...?
Jamie nodded, lifting his hands and spreading his fingers in a "pick me up" motion. "Yes!" He agreed with a smile. Though he then shifted his blue eyes thoughtfully and added, "Pwease ma'am."

Alistair rolled his eyes at Becca, "Funny, I find I don't quite care enough to bother?" He suggested as he walked toward the others. Moving to snatch one of Noire's arms, he growled when she spun away and gave a glare at Becca.
"Big help you are!" Noire accused, spreading the glare to Alisa. "UHM. MAYBE CAUSE SHES TEN TIMES BIGGER THAN I AM? SHEESH, you ARE stupid!"
It was a long enough sprint for Alistair to get ahold of Noire, and with an extreamly childish cackle Alistair threw the gray haired little girl over his shoulder and snorted triumphantly at Becca. "Take it home quickly, will you? They tend to make the complex sm- TALULA! GET SUNNY ON THE PHONE NOW!!!" He wailed in vain, despite knowing she was deaf, but still loud enough to be heard where Talula was. Atleast for Jamie.
Talula gave Jamie a smile as she picked him up and then hurried back towards where the others were, "I guess your mommy met your sister!" She said cheerily.
Noire, meanwhile, was busy throwing a fit.
