Damn, Damn, Damn and above all, Damn.

The days had turned into weeks and the weeks had crept into achingly slow months that slowly took the toll on her, she was getting old, sure, she was still young enough to hunt and kill to sustain her...but she could feel the years of her painful life catch up with her.
But why the hell did it have to catch up now!?
She was a free lioness! So why ruin it for her?

Yes...that was right, she had left the Mistweavers, with the drought and the jungle slowly dieing around the pridal lands, she could tell that the less mouths there were to feed, the easier it would be for them...and...she had, another, big reason for leaving...
...Dath...
Her master, her God of Chaos...so technically she wasn't free truely was she?
For now, while Dath was out on business unknownst to her, she was free to wander the lands and hunt to her hearts content.

She did sometimes think about Ramses and her children...but also those who had been so close to her as a youngster.
Nyekundu, that arrogaunt little b*****d, someone she'd considered a brother...and Ithi', her sweet adopted sister, someone she would've taken on Maji for just to keep her safe.
She loved all of them...though she'd never show any emotions like that infront of Dath unless they were threatened.
....
Oh who was she kidding, she'd never see them again...she'd not seen them in so long...

A sigh rattled her chest as she lay over the large rock she'd claimed as her own, the sunset changing the sky into a dreamy pallette of colours that danced over her eyes as she looked over the horizon of the lands.
What would she see this evening?

The lioness was damaged, she had Nyek's V's scars ion her face and she was still limping a little from the problems she had while giving birth. Oh her three girls, she couldn't help but wonder how they were doing, her three beautiful girls but yet they had been spawned by a monster and she hoped that Nyunya would keep it from them. They didn't need to be troubled by their father as their mother was. She couldn't help but wonder about Ash, Dhar and Fedha too. She had left them all because she didn't want to be an annoyance. She had found a way of surviving, living off mice and scraps of meat she had found from other animals meals. She was a mess.

Somewhat like her old friend though she had never expected to see her before but the shadow on the horizon looked strangely familiar. The silver lioness had been resting, laying under a tree she found giving off a decent amount of shade. It was too hot and she wasn't healthy. It was better to keep her in the shade, at least then she was more likely to live another day. It was somewhat annoying though, the shadow on the horizon looked so much like a long lost friend but her mind couldn't work out who it was. She was just too tired. Laana wasn't the only one who had life catching up on them just Ithi had more battle scars to show for it.

Laana wandered for a few moments before the familiar flash of silver fur beckoned her feet to pause and she stared at the figure that lay under the tree for a few long moments...who was that?
So familiar to her...as she meandered through her memory palace for a few seconds before it stopped upon a very prominant figure in her mind and she quickly turned towards the tree and started towards it.

Her bright red eyes never left the figure, for one second, she wanted to make sure it wasn't a dream!
Could it be Ithi? After all this time could it be her?
As she drew closer she slowed herself, claws digging into the ground so deeply she swore her paws would bleed from the pain.
But right now, adrenaline had made sure the pain would sneak up and bite her in the arse later...for now she stared into the face of her adopted sister, deep, racking pants wheezing from her lungs as if they were filled with dust.

But as soon as she caught he breath she let a small, familiar grin lace itself over her maw.

"Hello...Ithi'..."

Ithi's head hardly rose as she heard her name being spoken in a familiar voice. She just looked up into those all familiar red eyes and smiled. She moved slowly and painfully to try and sit up. Her muscles were sore and so was most of her body but she managed to sit up and smile into the dark face she thought would be nothing more then a memory.

"I didn't think I would see you again Laana." Her voice was very quiet. She had hardly spoken since having her last litter and it saddened her somewhat that she would probably never see them again and how she missed bring cubs up.

"How are you?" She wanted to get the question in first, Ithi had a long story to tell.

"Why are you here? I would have thought you would have stayed with Ramses..."

Laana watched her life time friend raise to her feet, red eyes wandering over Ithi's pained form and then offered another small, brief smile to her.
The sound of her friends quiet voice worried her, had she weakened so much in the time they'd been apart?
And that familiar smell on her...

However those thoughts vanished from her mind as she was asked a question she'd been dreading, what was she to say? That she was dieing slowly with each and every day?
She gave a small shrug and then licked her paw lazily before answering.

"I'm alright...just been very...tired these past few days." She was still the same old Laana, a terrible liar at times, but with good intentions...she'd tell the truth later, right now she wanted her reunion with Ithi' to be a joyful one.

At the next question, she paused, the smile saddening slightly before she shook herself and then looked up at her once more.

"...Things change Ithi', my son was taken by Nyekundu...and the Mistweavers...they're better off right now with less mouths to feed." She then arched a brow at her.
"What about you? How has life been treating you?"

Ithi listened, she knew there was something Laana was holding back but she wasn't going to push it. She didn't have the energy to do so. It seemed she was tired as well, maybe just as tired as Laana but Ithi wasn't dieing, she just wasn't healing.

"Oh Laana..."

She didn't quite know what to say for the same reason Laana didn't say much. Laana was obviously bitter about her son and that made Ithi a little uneasy, maybe she could miss out the part about Nyek? It would then leave the questions about her scars though. She would just have to tell her.

"Laana you do not want to hear this but you asked and I will tell. Denge and I left the Mistweavers because of Maji. We heard whisperings and Denge felt such an outcast and you know that I never got on with him so it made sense to get our children away." She paused for a little bit and took a deep breath. She was still talking quietly still and it hurt a little to talk as much as she was.

"Denge and I got split, I do not know what happened but I heard news of her death and it caused so much pain. My Denge, my poor Denge." She managed to hold tears back, she wasn't sure if she could cry now anyway she had done so many times since seeing Ny. Oh her cubs, her beautiful girls.

"I was a wreck, I didn't know what to do and he found me. I wish I hadn't let things get too far but then we all make mistakes don't we. He took me to his oasis, carved the scars into my face. He took me as he wanted me, like he wanted you. I got away, though I carried his cubs, I was physically battered and couldn't hunt or anything. I got to Nyunya, she is such a wonderful daughter. She helped me give birth to three beautiful girls and is now bringing them up. I can't have them know about their father and Ny holds his pink colour so she is bringing up her sisters as her daughters." She paused again, there wasn't much else to say after all she had left her three daughters and was now talking to Laana.

Laana listened to every word, each word pounded into heart...especially at hearing about Nyekundu, by the end she had her fangs bared in nothing but pure rage as she began to breath heavily.
Nyekundu...goddamn him...he was the closest thing to a brother she ever had, she'd watched him go mentally unstable, take her son away and now...now this!?

"The b*****d..." She snarled softly, however, at the sight of Ithi' she put away such meanial thoughts and moved, curling herself so she lay beside her old friend and looked over her.
Right now she needed someone for her...she needed a friend.

Ithi wasn't surprised by Laana's reaction and as the female curled around her she couldn't help but give out a small purr like rumble.

"Life isn't that bad Laana, I have three beautiful girls out there growing up without knowing who their father is and that makes me happy enough. They will live a good life without knowing anything about that brute." She let a smile cross her face and imagined what her three girls would look like now. They would be beautiful.

The older lioness watched her friend closely, still laying close to her as she was there to comfort her friend when she needed it...she didn't even consider Ithi her friend, she'd been more like a sister that followed her around when she briefly lived in Ngorongo Crater.
Or whatever that huge place was called.

As Ithi' mentioned her daughters she let out a small, cheerful chuckle as she stretched her forepaws slowly.
Her claws gently scratching at the ground as her muscles and bones cracked gently, it both was painful...and felt wonderful.

"Life will be kind to them...I fear however, life feels it's need to slowly leave my body with each passing day."

Laana's words made Ithi turn in a split second.

"Laana, you aren't dieng are you? You can't!" Ithi knew that there wasn't a chance that she could do anything if Laana was indeed dieing but the thought that she could be slowly dieing was just terrible.

"Oh Laana.." She moved a little so she could nuzzle the dark lioness, she didn't want to loose her friend, her sister. She loved Laana as any close sister would but no she couldn't die.

The lionesses eyes closed slowly and she accepted the other females comforting nuzzle, sighing softly as she opened her crimson orbs once more to look at her friend with a weak smile.
Death...it seemed so frightening to think of it...but dieing...well...you couldn't fall asleep at night knowing it may be your last...

"Everything dies, Ithi'...my time will come soon enough...besides, I've lived a long and mostly happy life." She said bluntly, as if it wasn't a big deal that she was going to die...Laana had always been morbid, but this seemed to touch a little to far for her.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 22, 2007 1:24 am

Ithi shook her head, "Not everything. Laana you can't leave me. I don't want to loose you again!" Tears were welling in her eyes but she didn't look at Laana she didn't want the older lioness to see how much Ithi was upset though it probably wasn't hard to guess. The silver lioness was heartbroken. Laana was dieing, just as Denge had died....

She laid her head on her paws and let out a soft sigh. Why was everyone dieing?

She watched this lioness, someone she'd considered her sister and still did as she saw the tears well up in her eyes and then leaned forward to gently lick the top of her head, like she did when she was a cub.
Laana then took her head away so her bright, almost ethereal eyes could stare at her with a soft, almost motherly kindness followed by a small, wisened smile.

"I can never leave you Ithi, even if my body should be taken to the soil, my spirit will always be with you on this mortal plain." She said softly, placing her head over hers as she tried to comfort the female while she lay with her.

She almost doubted her own words, but then, she'd just have to make sure Death wasn't as fast as they said he was.
She wanted to stay alive for atleast a few more moons...spend time with her old friends...and her God.

Ithi just sighed and allowed herself to lay next to her friend and just take the time to rest together. Oh how she would miss her sister. This is how she would stay untill Laana had enough strength to move on and so Ithi closed her eyes to rest next to the friend and sister who she adored.
