She was almost certain that she was going the right way. She may have taken a wrong turn once... Or twice... But they had to be heading in the right direction now. She was starting to remember bits and pieces of things; landmarks and trees as well as large rocks that wouldn't have been anywhere else.
"... Shouldn't be much longer now. I think we're getting close." Either that or she was leading him on a wild goose chase.
... ... ...
Not far from where Memory was leading her friend about he had positioned himself in the shade by a stream, enjoying the cool air coming up off of the water just as much as he was enjoying the silence that he knew wouldn't last for long. It never did last much longer than breakfast...

Nope! Of course it didn't. Especially since Altair was very much not a quiet little foal at all. In fact, the silence that Draven had so much been enjoying moments for was completely shattered beyond all repair by a loud whoop and holler from the black colt.
"WAHOO SEE 'EM FLY!" he called out as he ran head long into a flock of sitting birds, wanting to see them scatter and take off into the air. It was so much fun frightening the creatures. They should do it as a sport! The way their wings fluttered and the noises they made. Absolutely hilarious! Altair was now rolling on his back laughing, star-filled tail and mane getting much loathed dirt into it.
"Now," he panted after a moment, standing himself up and shaking himself out, "That is what I call entertainment! Did ya see that, huh? HUH?" he trotted over to Draven and prodded him with a forehoof. "Blackie, didja see it?" Blackie. He'd taken to calling Draven Blackie. Not exactly the most creative foal on the block, but he did it because he was pretty sure it annoyed him.

Shaking his head he decided that telling Mem that she'd said 'almost there' a few times already wasn't a good idea. She'd probably huff at him or something.
"Haven't been out this far before. Kinda rocky.." There was too much sand and running water where he lived for rocks to get this big. Everything seemed to have been work down.

When an almost obnoxiously familiar voice touched her ears they flattened slightly. Her nose wrinkled as she shook her head, now certain she was going in the right direction. She turned towards Sedi. "... Before we go on I should warn you. Draven took a young foal under his care and... He's not quite right. I honestly don't know why Mr. Draven lets him say the things he does... Although, I guess it's not as much as he lets him as it is he would never harm a foal."
The more time he spent with Altair the more he wished what Memory had said about him wasn't true. As the foal, growing bigger every day, continued to prattle on he made a point of ignoring him, dipping his head down to take a sip from the stream as he went about his peaceful afternoon. He would continue this until he was addressed apropriately.

Sigh. They really were no fun, these people and Draven. Why he stuck around he had absolutely no idea! Maybe it was because it was the first place he felt he belonged, even if he wouldn't admit it. There were rare moments, after all, that Altair wasn't a smart a**. They were just that. Rare. Far and few in between, unfortunately for them.
"Yer no fun. None of ya are. Don't take part in the art o' chasin' birds. Huff." He shook his head and plopped himself down next to his mentor, closing his eyes, "Any breakfast left, Breakfast King?" Yes, that still hadn't been a nickname to wear off - but he supposed it had to be better than Blackie, right? But Altair did love his meals. Ate a lot, he did.

He raised a brow as he heard a voice. Kinda sounded like what his home sounded like when there were foals running around. "So he's got a kid ta take care of?"
Wasn't that odd. I mean if he found a foal just wandering around? Well no, he'd probably give it to Dah and make him deal with it. Foals'd just get in the way of all his wandering.

"I am no fun because you would rather flit around than learn lessons." He let a slight smirk curve his lips as he turned to glance down at the foal now that he'd calmed slightly. "Breakfast happened when the sun was halfway between the horizon and the middle of the sky... I believe it's closer to lunch now and grass is on the menu for lunch unless you feel inclined enough to practace your forraging for something else."
"Yes... Mister Draven found him wandering around by himself... So he brought him home to Mother." She nodded slowly as she moved towards the stream, following it along to where Draven was with Altair. She smiled brightly as she approached the two. "Hello!"

"What fun is foragin'? Adults, I swear. When will ya get a good sense of fun? Serious all the time. All work and no play makes ya...." he couldn't remember the saying he'd heard, but that didn't much matter to the starry foal. He simply shook his head and lowered his head down into the grass, taking a large bite of it and ripping it up almost violently. Get as much from a meal as he could!
The female voice was heard and his head lifted, one eye peering open. Oh. It was her. "Whatcha want?" he called out to her, "You ain't gettin' my grass."
Not that she wanted it, but one couldn't be too careful.

He raised a brow as he looked past Memory toward the other stallion and the foal that was being rather rude to her. He was pretty sure if he ever talked to someone like that his dad would have given him a hard clip to the head with a hoof.
"Rude little runt isn't he?"

"I... Don't want your grass." Her brow furrowed slightly as she watched the foal. "I had some lovely berries earlier and a bit of grass before that." Snorting softly she gave her head a light toss, braids fluttering against her neck. "Hello, Mister Draven."
"Good afternoon, Memory... And Memory's friend." He smiled, 'painted' corners of his mouth curving slightly before he glanced down. "Mind your manners, Altair. There's more than enough grass for everyone. I doubt you could eat it all yourself. You'd get sick if you tried."

"Who ya callin' runt?" Altair challenged, grass still in his mouth. He chewed quickly and swallowed the mouthful that he'd had, not admitting that Draven was correct. He could eat all the grass, but he'd end up getting sick. And fat. And who on earth would want to associate with him if he was a fatty?
"I bet I'll be bigger than you, buddy. And nicer lookin' too. Yeah, I'll get me a good mare someday, ya just watch. She'll fawn all over me too!" He laughed, turning his head to look at his 'father'. "Dontcha think, Draven?"
Oh, what was that? An actual name?

A brow rasied as he looked down at the foal. "Ain't no way in 'ell you'll be stronger, or faster than me. You ain't got my Da." He grinned.
"And with ah'mouth like that ya ain't gonna get nothing but girl's scoffin in yer face. Ladies don't like .... well ya ain't old enough to hear what we call those with that attitude."
He looked up toward the other stallion. ".... sorry, ain't got no manners" He grinned as he stopped beside Memory.

"..." His brow lofted slightly as he glanced down at the foal, surprised to hear his name coming from the little one's mouth. "Bigger? Maybe, if you eat the right things and get enough exercise. As for mares?" He smirked. "I am going to have to agree with Memory's friend... Any mare worth keeping around won't fawn over you with that attitude."
Her nose wrinkled slightly at the topic of conversation and she was almost tempted to shy away and find something space to stare off into... Until she realized that she hadn't made introductions. "Oh! Draven, this is Sedi... And Sedi... This is Draven... And Altair."

"Ah, Screw ya, then. I'll show ya. I'll get the prettiest mare in tha world, and ya will eat yer words, got it?" Altair snorted and ate another mouthful of grass quite angrily, mulling over how exactly he'd extract his evil plan. He'd show them. Someday.
"Ain't nothin' wrong with my attitude, pops," he shot toward Draven after a moment before plunking his rear end down on the grass and giving a yawn. "I'm bored."
