"So...where are you going Thel?" Elan asked as the painted stallion cantered speedily across the plains as if afraid of being found out. "You seem to be in a hurry,"
"I'll explain...later," Thelerian replied as he swiftly dodged a rock that was in his way. " I need... some time...to myself,"
"Ah...," chuckled the hawk. "You plan to high-tail away from your group then and go on wandering again?"
Hearing that, the stallion stopped and looked at his companion thoughtfully before breaking out into an even trot towards an area that he hoped the others wouldn't know about. "No...but that...is a good...idea....Elan,"
"Hey! I was only joking!" Elan replied perching onto his friend's broad back. "The others need to Thel. You seem like the only sane soquili the group has,"
"They have...Yuna," Thelerian said tossing his forelock out of his eyes. "I need...some time...to myself Elan,"
"Well now you have it! Arod's off flirting, Danae's off wandering and Yuna; although sane, will never be able to break up Arod's and Danae's bickering. She's too nice sometimes,"
"And...I am not?" Thlerian asked smiling at his friend. " But no...I am not...going to 'wander off'. I just want to...have a quiet place to be in for a while...a few...days at most,"
"Oh?" Elan asked enquiringly. "And why is that?"
"Well...," Thelerian said hesitating. " I feel like...I am missing...something Elan,"
"What d you mean Thel?" Elan asked casting his friend a worried glance. Sure the stallion had been quiet lately but then again, when was he not quiet? The idea that the stallion may actually have some problem behind his quietness worried the hawk. "Anything I can do to help?"
"No...," Thelerian replied as he continued to make his way to his 'hiding place'. "I just need to...sort out something...within myself... that's all,"
"Oh... okay Thel. But I'll always be happy to lend you a ear," said Elan. "I know. And...thank you," Thelerian replied and stopped to observe their surroundings. As Thelerian had hoped, they have managed to reach his 'hiding/thinking place' without being found out by either Arod or Danae. That itself was a relief to the quiet stallion. Satisfied tat they weren't followed, the stallion and his hawk familiar made their way quietly to a hidden pool to rest and refresh. Perhaps in this secluded spot, Thelerian could finally hear himself think without having to strain himself.
Truth be told, Thelerian felt old and tired of life and this thought worried the stallion. Perhaps in this quiet and shaded pool he could recollect his thoughts and determine his next course of action with his friend Elan.

Oh how long had it been?
The mare smiled pleasantly as she drifted down the mountainside towards the forests. As the summer progressed steadily on it was with great enjoyment that she watched the new life and the world itself change before her very eyes. It wasn't only the world that had changed though, in recent months she too had been changing...slowly but surely, something deep inside her began to change and it felt good.
Was this what it was like to be in love?
She had always wondered why the mares acted in such an unusual fashion as they were courted, how they drifted about in a zig zagging motion...lost in their own thoughts. Now she understood, her mind had been filled with the thoughts of only one stallion and it had been positively delightful. He had been so forgiving and so patient to the point that she was now ready to give him everything. She wasn't even afraid to, she knew he wouldn't reject.
That being said, he had kindly reminded her that she hadn't shown her pretty face in a number of months to her friends and it was with that gentle nudge that she had nuzzled her love goodbye and had made her way down. Luckily the ground didn't even seem foreign to her and words couldn't express how much she wanted to see her friends, just to catch up and see how they were.
By now the fiery mare was almost certain that some would have found love! Maybe a few had even had children as her nephew had. While this always made it broody it also gave her something to look forward to as well.
Unfortunately there was the tiny issue of locating her friends though and as she flitted into the forest with her head held high she wasn't entirely sure of where to start. So, she decided to take a leaf out of her nephew's book and 'holler' to get some attention.
"Hellooooo!"

Well...it would seem that pool staring was definitely not going to work. Mind still as troubled as before, the stallion pawed the ground restlessly and turned to leave. This was useless. Being 'emo' as Arod would have called it was doing nothing to solve this restless feeling within him. He needed something or someone to take his mind off things for a while. Elan who was perched overhead also took flight in pursuit of his friend.
Stepping out of his 'hidden' spot, Thelerian was suprised to hear a echoing 'Hellooooo!' coming from somewhere within the forest. And what was even more suprising, the stallion actually recognised it as Yei's.Thelerian flicked his ears alertly forward hoping to locate exactly where the voice was coming from. If his hearing proved true and with luck, the stallion would be meeting a very good friend of his soon. This thought lifted the stallion's spirit considerably and with an easy trot, Thelerian started to make his way in the general direction of the voice.
Elan meanwhile, took advantage of his gift of flight and was already yards away from where Thelerian was. "Race you slow poke!" the hawk screech as he flapped his wings to gain altitude.

"Race you slow poke!"
She may have been in the Highlands for a long period of time but there was no forgetting that voice. Unfortunately, given the fact that the canopy hid the majority of the sky from view she was incapable of spotting the hawk at all. That being said, she was rather happy to hear that the fates had blessed her at all...she had expected it to work at all but apparently her nephew had the right idea.
Just Holler.
The affects were extraordinary and the smile grew on her equine lips. If Elan was about then that definitely meant that her oldest friend was about as well! Oh how long had it been since she had last seen Thelerian? The last news she had received of him was when he had told her about his potential mate!
Breaking into a trot the mare began to move further into the forest, whickering every now and again in an attempt to locate her old friend (or even his partner in crime).

Now that he was sure of the direction that his friend was coming from, Thelerian changed his pace from trot to canter in eager anticipation of meeting his old friend. Now that he was here cantering for almost all he was worth, Thelerian did not feel so old anymore. In fact, he felt...young!
Gosh! Perhaps I've been around Arod and Danae too much. Those too are likely to make any soquili feel old in comparison to their childish attitude. thought Thelerian as he manuvered his way through the trees.
Finally spotting a flash of red against the green background, Thelerian gave a half-rear and whinnied "Yei! It's...great to see you!"
"Too bad slow poke. I was here first," said Elan smugly as he sat on a branch some distance above the duo. "Honestly, how do you guys get around with those four sticks of yours?"

"Generally, we walk. It's nice to see you again Elan..." Yei smiled mildly up towards the bird before returning her gaze to Thel, it seemed little had changed. He still had that bounce in his step and that rare shyness about him. All in all it provided her with a number of pleasant memories and she was forced to shake her head to dismiss them for the time being. Oh, how long had it been?
"I would have to say the feeling is mutual though!" She flicked her ears forward in response to the cheery sound of the stallion's voice. Really it had been an incredibly long time and both had matured, by the very look of things Yei had already gained more muscle and thicker fur from her continued presence in the mountains.
"Now where have you been hiding all this time Thel?" She enquired softly, tossing her mane away from her eyes and shifting her weight to the opposing hoof. At least he hadn't changed in terms of appearance, some of those from the past had and it was a rather unfortunate thing indeed.

"Walking. Pah, it's the most boring mode of transport ever created," Elan replied in his usual sacarstic manner.
Thel meanwhile let out a soft smile at Yei's question. The mare had indeed matured over time. Though subtle, there were changes that could be noted if one paid close attention to it. For one, Yei seemed more...satisfied with herself and had a radiance that most female species seemed to have when their life is deemed whole. That self assured step, the proud but subtle toss of the head. It was all there and being the stallion he is, Thelerian promptly took note of it.
Choosing his words, Thelerian then replied "I have had...my hooves full lately...Danae, perhaps you...have met her? Has self-invtited herself...and Arod...and Yuna into following me. It has been... a lively group...,"
"Lively? Gosh Thel! What are you? A saint? Arod and Danae alone could wake up the dead!" Elan screeched to emphasize the duo's interactions. "And they seem to think that it is okay to do so!"
"But you...join them in their squabbles...too Elan," Thelerian reminded the hawk.
"Only occasionally," Elan then replied in an off-handed manner.
"Uh...Yei...?" Thelerian said looking gently into the mare's beautiful face. "Congratulations...,"

Thelerian certainly had gotten himself quite the family! Unfortunately Yei hadn't met any of those he spoke of and it only served to emphasise how long she had been away. It made her wonder how many of her other friends had changed in the last few years - gosh, had it been years? Given the age of her nephew she would have to assume it had been!
She was getting old.
"I can't say I have met them," Yei confessed with a bemused smile, half listening to Elan who always had something to say. While it was usually an exaggeration in some form or another, he was the more lively of the pair and she was pleased that such a thing hadn't changed...she wasn't sure how she would cope with a hyper Thel!
"I'll keep an eye out, by the sounds of things I'll hear them before I see them," she teased, glancing up at Elan to let him know she'd heard and taken his words into consideration. However, when Thelerian next spoke it left the poor mare looking rather confused. What in the world was he congratulating her for? Had she missed something?
"...Congratulations for what?" She asked uncertainly.

Uh-oh. This was...awkward... Thelerian had not counted on Yei to be confused. Shifting his weight slightly onto one foot, then another, the stallion glance up at Elan who was also intently watching him. In fact, it would seem as though the whole forest had gone silent all of a sudden. Of all the time to be silent thought Thelerian as he once again turned his attention towards Yei.
"Well...ah...," Thelerian began, once again bumbling with his words. " You see...I had thought...that...uhm...well... You seem to have someone special and I am congratulating you on that," Thelerian said rushing quickly through the last sentence. " I am...very happy for you Yei," Thelerian then added as if emphasizing his point before falling once more into an awkward silence.

Was it really that obvious? She couldn't help but smile as Thel (as usual) tripped over his words. Apparently in some regards she still made him nervous despite never once teasing him beyond comprehension. Really, it was a terribly endearing feature for him to have and she could do nothing more than regard him with fondness.
"I never knew it was that obvious," she confessed, failing to remember that she had the glowing feathers upon her own form. Lining the soft contours of her neck they complimented her fiery red pelt rather well. In all things, the special someone she had found matched her perfectly.
...With the exception of his calm and composed form.
He was logic, she was passion. He was understanding, she was often a little bit rash.
"But thank you I suppose," she wasn't about to admit they were only a 'recent' couple given her age but still, "How are things with your beau?"

Thelerian flicked his ears in a rather thoughtful manner as he chose his words. Where indeed was his 'light'? It would seem as though she had vanished one fine day along with her human companion. He didn't exactly blame them as humans were wont to move about with their game animals. Only...Thel had wished that she had told him. Perhaps then he would have at least been given the option to follow her.
This loneliness was getting to him.
Shaking his head at these depressing thoughts, Thelerian smiled at the radiantly red mare. It would not do to disrupt her positive vibes. Why, the world was sometimes depressing enough as it is already. It need not have one more to add to its ever growing number of depressed souls.
"Well...the thing is...Mis- uh no, madam(?) Yei, Hotaru seemed to have left quite abruptly...," Thelerian replied in his rather slow manner. "I...have no idea where she might have been at this present moment...,"

[[xD Well you can do Azumoth's portrait if you're bored]]
Ah, she'd seen it in his eyes. He'd always been the shy and quiet type and usually relied on his hawk to speak up for him. Where Thel was quiet, his companion often filled the void that may otherwise have been deemed uncomfortable. This had been around friends though, when his mate had been around he had been much more talkative and had come out of his shell.
...It wasn't surprising he had reverted back into it.
Having once been a nomad herself Yei understood the concept of 'itchy feet', the urge to travel at the drop of a hat and yet she couldn't quite fathom why his beau hadn't at least informed him. Even when Yei explored she had always told someone, granted she had now settled down and was happy on the slopes but even so...Perhaps in time his beau would either come back or he would find another one.
There was no point crying about it though, she had faith that her oldest friend would figure out his problems eventually and she would support him regardless of the choices he mate. Hell, if he decided to run off on a wild search to locate his love then she would encourage him - her mate had been lucky enough to find her that way after all!
"Ah!" She released a small chuckle and shook her head as he referred to her as 'madam', she knew she was maturing but she wasn't that old just yet! "I've told you before," she teased lightly, the smile still firmly on her lips as she watched him shift about uncomfortably, "I'm not old enough for Madam and you don't need to call me by any formality - you've known be long enough so just call me Yei!"
"If you don't, I'll start calling you Sir Thelerian," she warned.

(( Here he is. XD )) "Sir Thelerian?" Thelerian replied musing with a small smile barely showing on his grey muzzle. It had a nice ring to it but knowing that Yei had said it in jest, Thelerian merelly shrugged it off. "Very well then...Yei. I will not call you madam,"
Taking a slow stride forward, Thelerian was silent for a moment while his companion, Elan, commented something about the weather being unusually nice as of late. Then, tossing his mane aside Thelerian turned to face the red mare. "What should I do...Yei? Should I...find someone else, leave the past behind or...should I wait for her? This feeling is eating at me Yei! It's making me confused!" blurted the stallion before stopping short.
"No...ah..I am... sorry... . I should not have...made my problems yours," Thelerian then added after he had regained some of his lost composure. "Let's leave this ...tiring conversation behind and...talk of something sweeter on the...ears...,"

((x3 He's shiny!))
Aha so that was what had been bothering him. The mare was once again happy to see that her patience had been repaid. Whether her friends liked it or not they always ended up confiding in her and she embraced them for it. That being said, his confession wasn't something that made her particularly happy...to have one of her friends so upset in turn upset her too! And to think he had been so very alive when he had first met that little mare.
"Thel, you cannot wait forever," she murmured gently, careful of her words in fear that she may further upset him or potentially mislead him. "I am sure she had her reasons for leaving but to expect you to wait is unfair, it lacks explanation...You deserve to be happy and you clearly aren't at the moment," she continued, flicking her tail from side to side as she came closer and nuzzled his cheek.
"There is no harm in looking elsewhere, if you find happiness then that is all that matters - nothing more, nothing less."

((Indeed he is. XD Rapid couldn't help adding more and more white dots. IT'S ADDICTIVE I TELL YE!!!! ))
Thelerian was silent for a moment as he pondered over Yei's words. Indeed, the mare's advice had more than a grain of truth in it and the stallion had always held Yei's advice in the highest regard. Flicking his tail absently, the stallion slowly nodded.
"Yes... I believe... you may have something there...," Thelerian then said in a most thoughtful manner. " I shall indeed have to look to a brighter future and yet...,"
Here the stallion paused to contemplate over the conversation that had just ensued in his usual slow and thorough manner. " And yet... my heart is heavy to do it... I fea- I fear that...that one day the past might just catch up...,"
"SO WHAT?!" Elan shriek rudely and impatiently from a nearby branch. "You have waited haven't you? You have lost sleep over it haven't you? You have even; pardon me for saying this...resented the others in your herd and out of it for finding true love too (Note: over this statement, the stallion coloured slightly). I saw it all Thel and let me tell you this you slow-witted equine; you are not and never were subjected to a hero's epic love story. Save that for the humans. Live! Damnit!"
Saying so, the hawk then spread his wings and took off in a blatant show of disgust at his friend's hesistantcy to change and improve;- leaving behind a very akward stallion in Yei's presence.
"Sorry...," was all that was uttered by Thelerian as he brushed past Yei in effort to apease his feathered friend.
