Thalassa was feeling fat and sassy. Well, not actually either of those things but well over the line of being content and just a smidge away from being.. She blinked and giggled softly, a breathy and almost unnoticeable noise. The Numa didn’t tend to make much noise even though being around people was something she enjoyed. Just.. When she chose that path. Right now the little periwinkle Numa was wandering rather aimlessly. Early she had spent some time in the sky just making careless figure eights and enjoying the feeling of the cool are and now it was time to practice walking.
Her steps were awkward and more than a few times her wings beat to keep her looking like she actually could smoothly walk. The few male numas she knew made it look so easy.. Then too they couldn’t go near as high and she couldn’t swim near as well. Probably a fair enough trade off. In one paw a half-eaten candy cane was being held carelessly. The minty candy had sounded good, but her concentration was on her walking..
She probably looked odd if anybody were to be watching her…

Akuji sat along the river of grape soda, watching the fishes lurch out playfully. The coffee boy had no taste for sweets-- as how the Candy Numa consumed so much sugar he was confounded. Sighing softly to himself, the Coffee massaged his temples, trying to rid himself of his awful migraine that had befallen upon him since, well, birth. Akuji had taken a step back from his other Coffee Numa kindred and had actually quit the addictive drink. It was only his second day, but his body was assailing him for such a heinous act.
To be quite honest, Akuji was lonely, and that was that. He had met no other Numa, and for most of his childhood he had no wish to. Yet, as he grew older, the need for companionship strengthened, but he was left without any social skills of the sort. Often the Candies would shy away from him, eying his claws and sharp teeth.
Sadly, he dipped a claw into the grape river and licked the sweet liquid off his paw. He grimaced as he did so and shook his head. "Bleck."
Akuji turned around, but as he did so he noted a pale-colored Candy Numa fluttering aimlessly behind him. He gasped, and as he did so, fell into the grape river. "Ah!! Ew-yuck! Blahfak!" he cried.

Thalassa finally just gave up entirely on her walking. She figured that the swan had given her her pale translucent wings for a reason and trying to use her feet fore much more than paddling around in the grape river was being, maybe, disrespectful? The Numa up ahead of her certainly was unusual! He had claws and such and looked to be in mild discomfort. Her human rubbed her temple like that once in awhile after something she called, “A really bad day.” Turns out Thal was in for more of a surprise than just meeting someone.
The other Numa had pretty blue eyes, she spotted them and smiled shyly just before he plunged into the grape soda river. Oh no.. oh dear. Had she done something to make him want to get away from her. Her wings frantically flit and it was with jerky motions she made it to where she was only a few feet away from the male.
“Oh.. Oh dear.. Uhm.. Do you need help?” Her voice was soft and incredibly unsure. Did she try to help him up? Or what that make him mad?
Then a mild confusion spread on her face, he was definitely different than anybody she had met, but she’d deal with that later.. But.. He didn’t like the taste of the grape? How unusual. “I.. I’m sorry if I made you fall..”

The poorly designed Coffee Numa splashed finlessly around in the soda for a while before digging his claws into the side of the river. He looked up at the numa who had shocked him at first and, at first, was very scared. She was looking down at him with concerned, genuine eyes, and he was clueless as to how to react. He felt his heart in his throat, trying to think of a way to not scare her away with his appearance.
"I'm fine, thanks," Akuji said softly, although very wet and sticky. With a little difficulty, he grappled onto shore and panted heavily. "Y-you didn't make me fall. I did. I was looking at the grapes and... and I fell."
This was his pathetic attempt to make her feel good. Akuji sensed he was not doing very well. Akuji walked a few paces away from the girl and shuddered, trying to get the damned liquid out of his fur and hair.
After a few moments, Akuji nervousness got the better of him. "You... Y-you aren't scared?" He looked up at her with very curious, hesitant blue eyes.

Thal fluttered down to the ground and wished she was more sure of herself. If she were she’d have helped him climb out of the river and onto solid ground, instead she had fluttered there like a useless thing. Stupid. Her eyes looked down at the ground for a moment before huffing just long enough to blow a strand of hair out of her face. He seemed nice.. Just unhappy about being covered in purple stickiness.
“I’m.. still sorry.” She -did- feel bad about him falling in since she knew he had seen her before the purple bath had taken place. “I.. I like looking at it too.. But I usually climb in instead of fall.”
She blushed slightly at her attempt to make a comfortable conversation and wrung her paws together before moving closer to him, not worried about staining her coat. Her human would simply douse her in that soap-stuff some other time and make her coat even fluffier than it was..
Afraid of him? Well, now she was a bit worried. Thal had just recently started to meet people and in the way of what to be ‘afraid’ of and what not to she didn’t have a single clue, “Well.. No but I mean if you wanted me to be.. I guess…?”

Akuji was resisting the very powerful temptation to rub his sticky self all over the dirt, and instead concentrated very hard on trying to comprehend this new creature he had met. At the response to his question, Akuji felt all his blood rush to his face. He wasn't sure if he was embarrassed or not, but he was blushing.
"N-no, it's not that. Just, usually other Numa are afraid of Coffee Numa." He explained shyly. "You shouldn't be sorry... so there's not need to apolo- auugh." Akuji swayed and sat, bringing his paw to his forehead again. The unexpected flushed-ness and blood rush to the head caused his headache to triple in intensity.
"S-sorry. I'm not feeling very well." He explained with difficulty, his eyes closed tightly and his tail squirming in discomfort. "I'm, uh, Akuji."

Thal’s worry for her new, possible, friends was building and she knew that she’d feel incredibly guilty if she didn’t make him feel better. Whether or not he’d consent that’d be another question, “I.. I live not far from here. The least I could do is make your fur clean.. And it’s nice and dark.” When her human had a “bad day” she sat in the dark and ate little white pill-things.. Thal didn’t have those but it would be quiet and dark?
She frowned for a moment and contemplated the other deciding once and for all if she was going to be afraid of him. Sharp teeth, claws, and nice eyes.. Nope, he passed she just wouldn’t ask him for a back scratch? To her, it seemed like he was getting worse by the moment and she began to move away from him, flying backwards.
“I am Thalassa.. Come along.. Please? The sun’s only going to make you even more sticky and hot.” Would he follow?

If Akuji had any parents, they would have told him not to follow strangers into their houses after knowing each other for five minutes. Thankfully, Akuji had no such guidance so he figured such an offer was simply an extension of kindness that was common among the Candy Numa. Plus, getting out of the sun sounded like a good idea. If he waited out here too long his fur would dry and be stuck to itself in odd clumps.
"Sure, thanks," He said, suppressing moans of discomfort from his head. "Thalassa," he tested under his breath, hoping he wouldn't be heard, but he just didn't want to get her name wrong if he said it to her for real. "Do you live with other Candy Numa, Thalassa?" He asked fearfully. Perhaps not all of her roomates would accept him as curiously and kindly as she had. More and more, Akuji began to detest his own nature and appearance. It wasn't that he wanted to be a Candy numa, of course not, but there were so many preconceived notions about Coffee Numa that most were hostile toward them. Not even the smidgens were kind!
He was glad to have met this kind Numa, however. She was very... well, sweet. It wasn't the bad-tasting kind, though.

Thalassa moved easily around and through a few random candy trees, stopping at one about 500 feet away from her cottage. “Just one moment Akuji.” Was it rude to make someone wait while you picked your supper? Thalassa hoped not, but she figured she’d be busy helping use the soap-stuff on him and wouldn’t want to come back. She flit up the tree and came back down with two large cinnamon gummy bears. The tree always had an over-abundance for them. Thal liked spicey candies more than just plain sweet ones.
She had heard him say her name, but she remembered saying the name of Rindou to herself to remember and since she didn’t know any better Thal figured that’s what he was doing just with her name. “No, I live alone… I.. I think I’d be kind of worried or afraid to live with more than just myself.” Well, if she had a mate she’d live with them but that wasn’t the same as a roommate. Her human had never bothered saying anything about Coffee Numa except that they were different from her but to them she was different and being mean was about as much fun for them as it was for her.
Finally, she had led them to the cottage and she pushed the unlocked door open and ushered him in. “I don’t like the soap stuff much.. My human usually gets a spray bottle of it with water and sprays it in, brushes my fur, then dowses me in warm water.. And I’m clean again..” Would he be okay with that? She’d have to brush his coat to get the very back and put the soap-water on.

As Thal grabbed a few cinnamon gummy bears, his mouth watered. He loved, loved those things. He used to eat them with his coffee. They leave a weird, sweet aftertaste, which he didn't really enjoy. However, whilst they were in your mouth the cinnamon tickled your mouth and it just-- ARRGGH his head hurt so badly... His migraine brought him back to reality, and he sadly lost his fantasy about the yummy gummy bears.
Her human, huh? Akuji had a human at one point, but as a child he had run away from her, disliking her customs. He had forgotten why, it was so long ago, however being brushed by a human sounded oddly appealing when Thal had mentioned it. He couldn't help but be relived to hear that she lived by herself, though.
"Soap?" He quirked an eyebrow up, confused at the new word. It wasn't often someone mentioned something so odd sounding. "What does that do?" He asked shyly, not wanting to sound stupid or uneducated (although he was definitely the latter, he sometimes considered himself both.)

Thalassa had grabbed a few of the cinnamon bears just to be sure that Akuji could have one too if he liked them. She set hers down on the table and held up the biggest one to him shyly. “Do you like these.. I got more than enough for both of us if you do…” The expression on his face made her shy back because he definitely looked like he was hurting. When Swirl got home she was going to see if she could have one of those white-pill things for him. If it was the same thing…
Well, so far so good! Akuji hadn’t run for the door at the idea of her brushing him. Ahh, so now he wanted to know what the soap-stuff was. To her it smelled awful because didn’t have any sort of sweetness to it at all, but once it was on her then off she felt so much better. Picking up the glass jar that Swirl kept it in, she plucked the top off and held it out with both paws for him to sniff at.
“It’s this stuff… Once I was told it had something to do with breaking down molly-q’s that were weaker than it like sugar.. But I don’t really remember.” Wow, it was strange to be doing all of the talking. She hadn’t known what it was either. In truth, on her first bath her human had thrown her into a shower with a sliding glass door and locked her in til she decided to soap up and scrub down. It had obviously gotten much nicer since her two-week pout-fit had ensued.

The notion of sharing the cinnamon bears knocked the migrane out of him for just a moment-- it was so thoughtful. Akuji looked up at her. "Th.. thank you, so much. I really like the those gummy bears, actually. It was odd that you chose the only favor I like." He said with a smile. "E-eer, not that odd is a bad thing! I mean, there are a lot of good odd things, and this is probably one of them. This, as in the fact that you got those gummy bears. The cinnamon ones."
Stop. You're failing.
Akuji retreated back into silent embarrassment for a moment, closing his eyes as his face flushed again. "I'd like to eat them with you later." He tried, settling at that. Once he had smelt that soap stuff, his ears and tails perked up. It wasn't.. sweet. It wasn't bitter. It was... amazing. Akuji had to resist the temptation to grab it out of her hands and rub his nose all over it. That would be both rude and scary, he noted to himself.
"I... really.. enjoy that." He said almost robotically, unsure as to how to convey this emotion.

Thalassa gave him a rare but very sunshine-y smile. She always felt a bit odd when it came to being around other Numas, as if she would say the wrong thing or pick something that just wouldn’t work with the others. “They’re my favorite… The other really sweet candies I can’t have very much of but these are so tangy and yummy…” She rambled to make up for his silence and smiled shyly again. The feeling of failing was one that she new rather personally.
Even though it was unfortunate.
Thalassa turned away for a moment to get out a plate-thing and to put the candies on them then put them in a cabinet for later. Her human got all cranky when she left candy just sitting out. She let Akuji hold the jar of soap while she put the stuff away then motioned for him to follow her to the bathing room. Thalassa was such a messy thing when it came to soaping up time that her human had given in and put in a room with pale blue tiles all along the ceiling, walls, and floors.. A huge metal tub-thing was in the center and a water-heater-upper was in the far left corner.
“That soap is really nice, isn’t it?” She had to admit it wasn’t that awful.. Now that flower-smelling stuff. Gag. “I.. Uhm.. If you get in the tub thing I’ll get some water and you can get wet.. Then I use the soap stuff in a bottle if you don’t like it.. Or you can just rub it into your fur and I’ll get your back.” Her pale face turned bright pink.. Somehow she felt like she was fumbling all of this.

Akuji was embarrassed again. All things considered, he knew not exactly what to make of Thalassa. She seemed very kind-natured and genuine, and yet somehow her mannerisms reminded him of his own. Wasn't that odd? Akuji had not considered himself very kind-natured and genuine-- he was fairly sure he was not a bad numa, but certainly nothing he did qualified for such attractive compliments. Thalassa was unlike most numas. It made him a little uncertain, but he said nothing of it and attempted to instead focus on the conversation, once again.
"I like the soap," he said simply, observing the odd room. It was made out of something entirely different than candy. Hell, Akuji was daring enough to assume that the room wasn't edible at all! Still, in attempt not to appear incompetent once again he kept to himself about his awe.
"I... uh... I'm not sure what you're supposed to do," he said quietly, as he stepped uneasily into the tub.

Thalassa figured that the best thing to do would be to get both of them to laugh. She remembered the first time her human had drug her in here. (Not one of her most lady-like or sweet moments) and the pain that had ensued. Now, it was funny to think about it and maybe they’d both relax if she told him about it. “You know, the first time I was in here a few of the tile things were sitting on the floor because my human hadn’t completely cleaned up…” She paused a bit, in remembrance, “I picked one up and bit clean into it. The problem is that they’re made of real rock.. Not even rock -candy.”
Her mouth had hurt for a full day or two before she had found the story amusing. She twisted a knob and watched the hot water fill a bucket. Once it was full she used her wings frantically to lift herself and the bucket and set it in the tub. Next step was for him.
“Now.. Uhm.. You have to get wet or the soap won’t work.” Her face was pink from moving the water and also from feeling a bit silly.
