Aphismet was finishing up, washing his last few brushes and getting ready to put everything away. It would be time to make lunch soon, and surely Isi would be hungry when he got back from taking Eiry into Deadwood Park for a meal. "Do you want me to clean your brushes too?" he asked Rivener, who was still at his easel.
"No," the Raevan answered, not looking away from his canvas. "I'm not done. I'll clean up myself when I'm finished." He turned a rare smile to his guardian. He truly did enjoy the time they spent together here, just he and Aphi. He could forget that he always had to compete for the man's attention, and just have fun, as was evidenced by the paint splatters all over the room and covering both men. Riv tried to keep as clean as he could, but there was still an azure-blue streak of paint on his hair.
Aphi smiled back to his charge. "Alright then. I have to go make some food; come down whenever you want."
The man went to his room to change, and just as he was pulling on a new shirt, the phone rang. He picked it up. "Hello?"

"Hello? Aphismet?" A female voice asked on the other end of the phone line. They sounded uncertain, a pause following the hello before a name was asked.
The awkward silence that followed was brief before another voice, that of a boy, suddenly took control. Whoever was on the other end sounded absolutely thrilled, their voice wavering from the constant giggles that followed their words.
"Aphi? Aphi! Guess what! Guess what!" They sounded, their laughter subsiding so their speech was clearer and easier to make out. "We got a bottled superhero, Aphi! It's real! It's so cool! We'll be getting a raevan like Rivener! Do you wanna see it?"
"Tyson...Don't just take the phone away when someone is talking into it!" Sounded the voice from before.
"Oh please, you weren't saying anything to him anyways. Nadda. Zip. Zilch! He would've just hung up if I didn't say something. Um...Sorry though." Tyson shot back at Lillian with a playful smile, before he quickly added in the apology afterwards. Lillian was now standing to the side of him, her hands on her hips and a frown on her face.
"Atleast tell him who it is..." Lillian moaned in defeat as her hand raised to cradle her aching head. The shrills and cries of joy that had been ringing through the house since yesterday had begun to take their toll on her. Even their dog, Marmaduke, had sought shelter from Tyson's cries of joy. Lillian hadn't seen him since Monday morning when the soul bottle and fel essence was discovered in the mail. His doghouse, the garden, or the green house were the best possible places the dog could've been hiding to escape the noise. Oh, Lil thought, if only he had taken her with him.
Tyson shrugged at his sisters comment, uncertain. " But won't he know that it's me?"
Lillian returned his comment with a shrug of her own. "I don't think so..."
The tyke nodded, taking his sister's advice, "Aphi, It's Tyson and Lil! Well...I'm, I mean, Tyson is speaking to you right now. Lillian talked to you at the start. So! Do you wanna see it? It came in the mail yesterday! I got a rock too...it's supposed to help it or something like that....I don't really know."

It hadn't taken long for Aphismet to figure out who he was speaking to. He laughed as he listened helplessly to the sibling argue on the other side of the line. He had tried to interject earlier with "Oh, a superhero?" or a "good for you!", but there was no time for him to speak as Tyson went on energetically.
He wasn't sure if Tyson was done talking near the end, but Aphi managed to get in a word nonetheless. "Of course I'd like to see it! Tell you what, how about you two come visit me, and I'll make us lunch, and we can all talk about the bottle and the vial, okay? I can try and answer questions if you two don't quite know what to make of it. Is that alright?"
He mentally checked his schedule; no, there was nothing else going on that day. No work, no other appointments. He smiled to himself. "Can you two take a cab, or do you want me to go get you? I don't know where you live..." He shrugged, assuming they could easily tell him.
"If you two are coming over and need the adress, it's the only house on the Marsh Road in Durem Caves North, okay? I really don't mind coming over if you'd prefer!" He added, hoping he didn't sound like he was forcing them to take a cab.

Tyson's laughter bubbled over the phone following Aphismet's suggestion, his agreement to the idea stated simply by that.
"That'd be awesome, Aphi!" The child added before his voice faded out of the other's range of hearing, "Hey! Lil!" He called to his sister who sat nearby, "Aphi wants us to come over! Let's go!"
Lillian's voice could soon be heard faintly on the other end of the phone line along with Tyson's. "What? Here, let me have that, please."
An exchange of the phone, one not without the sounds of jostling and clumsy movement followed before the handy piece of technology was steadied in the teen's hand.
"Aphi? Yeah, if you don't mind us coming over then sure." Lillian replied as she found herself in very chipper mood, "Since I have no idea what we're going to do with this thing and if you are okay with helping, which I would appreciate a ton, then yeah we'd love to come over." Of course she'd be happy to have any help she could get, especially if that help was coming from Aphismet himself.
Tyson was the one now standing in the corner, mouthing out what he remembered Aphismet's directions to his home was. The child would have loved to be picked up by Aphismet, although Lil would have nothing of it. The young man was already opening his home up to them, and it would be rude of her to ask for him to give up more time just to waste gas to pick them up.
"I don't want you to get lost trying to get to our house, so we can just take a cab." She answered while looking at the wall to ignore Tyson's crestfallen gaze. "We'll be there right away. Lemme just go and get the bottle and vial along with their package that they came in. We got some directions but they aren't as helpful as I would have liked them to be."

Aphismet smiled as Lillian and Tyson shortly battled it out. He nodded at the phone. "Yeah, that's fine then! Did Tyson give you the directions? It's the house on Marsh Road in Durem Caves North. Just come right in when you get here, okay?" He smiled, and waited for the girl to approve the plan before hanging up.
He had to get ready! He had to start the lunch plans. Hmm. A soup, maybe! And sandwiches were overdone. Maybe a salad of some kind. He wondered if perhaps Tyson would even eat salad. Scrunching his nose, Aph nixed the salad. A pasta dish! Everyone loves pasta! He smiled and got to work, rummaging through the refrigerator for ingredients.
"Rivener!" he called, although he doubted the Raevan would hear him. "RIVENER! Company is coming!" He paused, but as expected, no answer. Aph sighed. He'd have to remember to go up there and tell Riv about the kids coming over.
...As soon as he chopped a few vegetables.

It didn't take long, perhaps an hour or so, before a loud squeal of the door opening was heard from the entrance.
"Aphismet?" Lillian called into the old house from doorway which she opened further to let her and Tyson into the home. An uncomfortable feeling rested in the pit of her stomach as she looked aroud the foyer. To enter someones home without knocking or ringing the doorbell didn't sit well with her, but Aphismet did say to just come right on in. Perhaps it was just her nerves acting up over silly things; like being in Aphismet's home and meeting his so-called brother, Isi and his raevan Eiry.
Tyson followed closely after his sister as they entered the home. In his arms rested the mailing package that contained both the mimic stone and the soul bottle that he cared so much about. "Aphi! We're here! Where are you?"
After Lillian had closed the door behind them, the delicious smell that wafted through the room was strong enough to tickled their noises and make their mouthes water.
"It smells so good." Tyson chirped with joy as he adjusted the package so it fitted comfortably in his arms. "Do you think he'll like the cookies we brought? Do you think Rivener will eat some if he's here?" The thought of running into the raevan while visiting Aphismet made Tyson's skin crawl with goosebumps.
Lillian gave his question a shrug as she rested her hand on one of the little one's shoulder. "I'm sure he will, and I know that you will be very polite while you're here." She reminded him for a final time before Aphismet greeted them.

Aphismet grinned as he heard the kids enter the house. The sound was unmistakeable. He laughed, putting down his wooden spoon after one last stir of the pasta sauce. As he removed his apron he opened the lid of the soup pot and looked inside, checking the gently boiling liquid. Mmm, smelled delicious!
Aphismet hung the apron on a hook near the kitchen door and he walked out to the entrance. "Hi, you two! Welcome to my house. Tyson, you look positively bursting with energy! How've you been?" He walked forward and gave the boy a playful tousle of hair. "And Lillian! You look beautiful," he said with a wink. "Come in, come in! The soup is going to be ready in like ten minutes, but the pasta will take another thirty. Did you want some soup first and then pasta, or wait and have it all together?"
On purpose, he spoke not of the box he noticed the younger boy carrying. He grinned inwardly, knowing that Tyson might have a million questions already. Aphi wasn't even sure he'd be able to help much, but at least he'd try.

"Aphi!" The two youngsters responded with joy when their eyes rested upon the young man. Tyson was the first of the two to hurry over to him, the box now tucked safely and securely under an arm. "You know me Aphi!" He told him through a batch of giggles as his hair was messed with, the tyke not minding at all even if Lil would make an attempt at fixing it afterwards.
"You know me, Aphi! I'll never run out of my energy either!" Tyson leaned forward, his free arm wrapping around Aphi's waist and giving him something as close to a hug as he could.
Lillian remained at the doorway watching them as they exchanged playful greetings with a smile on her face. She didn't want to interrupt them, and didn't have to worry about it as Aphismet turned his attention to her. It may have been for a brief and quick moment that held the small but sweet comment and gesture, but it still made a light blush creep across Lil's cheeks.
After a sudden and quick battle to regain her compsure, Lillian managed to find her voice. "Thank you, Aphi, you're too sweet. Now, soup and pasta? I gotta say that that sounds really good! I brought some cookies for dessert...I'm no cook so they are store bought though." As she took off her shoes, Lillian gestured to the bag in her hands. Sure she knew the essentials of cooking, like boiling water and heating things up in the microwave, but never had she journeyed deeply into it's depths.
"Oh! And whatever is less of a hassle for you, Aphi." She added about the topic of placement in Aphismet's lunch.
Tyson meanwhile looked like he was about to explode as he stood in the middle of things. He really didn't want to think about food right now! He may have been hungry, but that wasn't an excuse to avoid talking about the raevan he had in his possession now. "Aphi....can't we talk about this?" The child finally asked as he gave into his desires. The arm he used to give Aphismet a hug now the arm he used to point directly at the box. "I really want you to see it now!"

Aphismet smiled and nodded at Lillian. "Wow, cookies? Thanks, that'll be a great dessert to the meal." He extended his arm to take the bag from her. "Come, follow me into the kitchen and we'll sit and wait for the pasta. I do have to mix it all and put it in the oven for the top to crisp up. Come on!"
He walked away, leading the troupe into the kitchen as he laughed at Tyson's excitement. "Alright, alright, we can talk about it. Here, put the box on the table and show me what you got." He tapped the top of the table, and placed the cookies on a counter.
He still paid attention to the pair, although he turned to drain the pasta from the boiling water, mix it with the homemade sauce, cover it with tasty breadcrumb-cheese mix, and place it in the oven. Only then did he sit with the kids to look at the bottle.

Lillian and Tyson seated themselves at Aphismet's kitchen table and waited patiently for him to finish preparing their meal.
To occupy themselves as they waited the siblings opened their care's holder to reveal their current form neatly tucked away in sponge padding. Ever so carefully Lil took out the empty soul bottle and Tyson retrieved the fel essence with a gentle hand.
"It's called a Mimic Stone." The tyke looked to Aphismet once he had sat down. "It just looks like a regular rock in our backyard. Did Rivener's fel essence look so...boring when you got him like this?"
Lil sat beside Tyson, nodding her head as he asked Aphismet the first of his questions. She had also been wondering about that. Shouldn't a raevan have some exotic fel essence? Like a fang that belonged to an ancient beast or a fireball. To have just a rock seemed too plain to play the part of creating a magical creature. "And how do we know if it's going to be a boy or a girl?" She got out the directions and looked down at them, nothing talked about that issue.

Aphismet laughed at the questions, before leaning forward and taking a good look at the fel essence. Indeed it looked like nothing more than a normal rock. "Does it say anywhere in there what this rock does that's so different from normal rocks?"
Sitting up, Aphi got to work answering questions as best he could. "As I understand it, the Fel Essences are normal things that somehow aren't normal. Like Lazarus made from fire that just burned forever without having anything TO burn. Or Roux made from ice that never ever melts. Rivener's Fel Essence did look pretty cool; his was a piece of the night sky, as though you looked through a piece of glass directly into the night." He smiled. "I'm not sure if you can decide whether or not your Raevan will be male or female... If anything, I think it would have to do with the sex of whatever you catch in the Vial." He grinned, a finger clinking on the glass of the small vial still ensconced in the foam packing.

Lillian frowned and flitted through the papers once more. This time she looked for papers that may have gotten stuck together so she hadn't seen it. Sure enough a paper the size of an index card fell into her lap labeled, "Mimic Stone". Unlike the other papers that only stated what it was, this one went into as much detail about the Fel Essence that was known.
"To sum it up, it's an old rock and it can change it's shape when it's taken out of the vial. Weird." She flipped the card over for anymore info hiding on the back but found the paper blank.
Tyson looked disappointed after hearing this, since the stone wouldn't even change now that it was contained it really was like a garden stone. Too bad it was against the rules to take out the Mimic stone out of it's vial to see it in action.
Lil on the otherhand wasn't bothered at all that the stone wouldn't be shapeshifting anytime soon. "So, that means we need to take the soul of a living thing? That's pretty cruel...Good thing we didn't place the bottle next to Marmaduke then." She sighed with relief that they had been keeping the Soul bottle far away from Marmaduke even though it was because of how clumsy the dog was. "How did you do it? How did you manage to get Rivener's soul? Was it hard to take it away from the first owner of it?"

Aphismet's smile faded a bit at the memory of how Rivener came to be. "Well, I didn't know that it would take something's soul away. It had just said it would renew life... So I put it in the tank of my old, sick Scorpion pet. The next day he was dead and there was a soul in the vial." Aph gave a sigh. "It was for the best, Cud- I mean my scorpion was old and in pain." He was pretty sure Rivener wouldn't like him telling anyone that he used to be an old scorpion called Cuddles.
He sat up and smiled. "Besides, Rivener came then. He's a completely new kind of person from what my pet was."
He leaned towards Tyson and tapped on the glass of the jar, watching the stone for any reaction. "From what I heard, it doesn't need to be a living person or animal's soul that you use. A flower, a tree, even a rock would be ok. The time would depend on each thing, though, I mean for how long you have to leave your vial there before it catches anything."

Tyson gave Aphismet a shocked and confused look as the man spoke about Rivener and soul gathering. "You named your old scorpion Cud? Aphi....that's not a good name to give your pets you know." Yep, he had completely missed the general idea of Aphismet's explanation.
"Tyson, shush." Lillian rested a stern hand on her brother's shoulder while watching Aphismet tap the vial's glass. The vibrations that the tap gave off shook the stone momentarily but other than that it's shape didn't change.
Lil frowned when nothing happened, "Well, maybe the glass is just messing it's shifting up?" She suggested as Tyson handed her the vial. "Anyways, Dr. Kyou doesn't want us to take it out of it's vial so I'm not going to. We'll just have to trust what the card says and go about getting this thing a soul. What would you suggest, Aphi? You've seen a lot of the raevans...the soul used in their make up must effect their personality somehow."
By now as the conversation grew into the dark corner of boredom Tyson decided to go back to asking his questions. He suspected that Aphismet rather answer his exciting and fun questions rather than Lil's lack luster ones. "Aphi! What kind of super powers will our raevan get? Since he's going to be a superhero he's gotta have super powers! Do you think super strength? Or what about hyper speed?"
