Stick to second sight. If you ever have a choice between a strength gem and an attack power gem, choose the strength gem. I wouldn't bother crafting Ragesteel, spend your time aquiring the scaled pvp items. They prioritize strength, spell damage, melee crit rating, and int without wasting item budgeting on resilience. Each piece has a ton of stamina, which is a waste for pve, but you won't find better ret items without tier raiding. http://www.wowhead.com/?search=gladiator's+scaledhttp://www.wowhead.com/?search=veteran's+scaled

I figured best not to mess with the ragesteel. But, why would I want to choose a St. gem over an AP gem? Doesn't X St. = 1 AP?

And because strength = 2 attack power, but will scale with kings. You should be picking up kings, even with a deep ret build. Leave raw attack power for rogues and nonsurv hunters.
Divine Strength usually isn't worth sinking the points into (it means that you lose kings). In average gear, you'll gain 15-25 strength (30-50 ap) from it. Kings matches that strength return, but also boosts other base stats. You'll also be able to pick up 3% hit on the way, leaving you with only 5.6% to get from gear.

I already use Divine Strength and have Kings; but I buff myself with Might for the boosted AP. I read that Ret. Paladins need AP-St.-Stam./Int.(PvP vs. PvE) then Int./Stam. (PvE vs. PvP) At this point I am PvPing a lot to get some good epics to help. I *rashly* respec'd so my current build is kinda s**t (I'll be re-re-reting soon b/c of the ******** know that Kings will give me, well, everything. And I was always of the school of thought that as ret, King>Might for myself. (Don't worry, I'm smart enough to buff myself with Sal in instances) But I was on the Pally boards and got tore a new one with "ZOMEFFINGGEE BoM>ALL" Which I thought was quite odd....

It's personal preference as well. Many paladins who are bad and don't have the ability to maintain mana control use Blessing Of Might more for the extra AP so they can just auto-attack, but paladins that spam judgement, crusader strike, etc. benefit a lot from that extra mana.
