Introduction
Many ninja have animal partners and some have even specialised in taking advantage of the human-animal link, like the Inuzuka. We are proud to present our animal system, which balances sense with simplicity.
Animals come in 3 different sizes:
Small: About the size of a fully-grown cat. Medium: Imagine a fully-grown German Shepherd or a wolf. Large: A bear, a horse or anything bigger.
These sizes must be kept realistic to the laws of nature (ie. you cannot have a Large snail), and affect the damage an animal can do.

Animal Partner Stats
All starter animals have 6 starter base points:
They furthermore have 12 points to distribute amongst the stats.
The formula to calculate starter Hp, Cp and MHp for animals are respectively:
Hp: [10 + con mod] Cp: [4 + chk mod] MHp: [6 + wis mod]
They might seem really slow, but this is how it works.
Animals with a low intelligence cannot talk, but they can still strive to make themselves understood. To communicate with an animal that cannot talk Until that time the owner and the pet are level five both the pet and owner must roll dice to understand each other.
The pet must beat its own DC in order for you to have a chance to understand.
1d20+concentration Dc: 10+int
If the Dc is beat then your turn you must roll 1d20+ sense motive Dc: Pets roll
So
Core Dc:23 Roll:26
He speaks well
Karite: Dc:26 Roll:30
I understand. ((This also goes for other people who try to understand your pet.))
This goes for signals and behavior as well.

Damage and Attacking
The natural damage of animals depend on the size of the animal.
Small pets have 1-3 + str mod damage They also get +2 to their dodge bonus for being so light.
Medium Pets have a 1-5 + str Mod, but lose no dodge bonus.
Large Pets have 1-8 + str mod but they lose 2 to their dodge bonus.
As for how they attack pets have all the same stuff. You know ranged melee all that stuff, but it has to be realistic.
Aerial pets have a ranged attack if they use smoke bombs or drop things and close up damage for the talons and beaks.
Ground pets with four legs only have close range, unless something special, like a device mounted on their back or they can shoot things out their mouth.
Primates if taught how to throw have full combat pretty much. They are basically human
Reptiles have stuff like strangle, bite, spit venom, and might use genjutsu depending if Carlos approves.
For animals attacking works exactly like with humans; they have a Attack Melee and/or Attack Ranged. Once again obey the laws of the natural world, dogs or cats don't have anything they can use to attack over long ranges and so cannot Attack Ranged, unless you teach them to blow dart or something, while snakes, being able to spit poison, can.

Jutsu/Tricks
Pets can also learn jutsu, but not like you do. Jutsus like shinobi know are saved for summons. Pets can come close but pet jutsus (apart from the Inuzuka) have not been sufficiently researched into as of yet. You could be the first clan to research animal chakra systems and create jutsu for them!
Animal Specific Jutsu List
Ningen no Keshin (Human Incarnation) Description of Jutsu: This Jutsu is only usable by pets and summons, for the simple reason that if a human were to use it, it would have no effect. This technique uses chakra to literally change the users form into that of human, with varying degrees of success, in a similar way a henge might, though the change is more stable. It is said the technique was developed by summon spirits who wished to walk in the human world unnoticed, but it is not entirely certain. The change is much easier for Summon Spirits, who's chakra systems are already similar to a humans, and animals who have been able to preform it in the past have always been nothing less then exceptional, as well as incredibly intelligent.
The Jutsu, if this otherworldly transformation can even be called that, does not allow one to take multiple human forms, as the ninjutsu merely changes the chakra coils and surrounding systems into those of a human, making the form they take what the animal themselves would look like, if they were a human. Though the age depends on the size of the animal, each appearance is as unique as one face is to another.
The only drawback to this technique seems to be that though the transformation is a true change of form, and not temporary, it expends a great deal of chakra, and even a fair amount to return to their original forms. Not a technique for the rabble of the animal kingdom, any who can use it outside the summon spirits are purely the elite. Rank: B Cp Cost: 100cp for summons, 300cp for pets, 50 cp to revert form. Damage: N/A Requirements: Summons: Int 20 Chakra 20 Non-Summons: 40 Int 35 Chakra Training: Stage I DC: 17 chakra Stage II DC: 20 INT Stage III: DC: 22 INT Stage IV: DC: 37 INT and Chakra combined. Special: Simply put, this jutsu allows something that is not human, to take human form. For Summons, who are already able to use Jutsu, this change is purely superficial, for animals however, this allows them to use simple Jutsu that would otherwise be impossible for their chakra networks to process, as well as Taijutsu that requires hands and feet. Though they will never be as adapt at using the human body as a real human would be, it can still make a seemingly harmless animal, into a suddenly formidable opponent.
Animals, unlike summons for who the change is merely superficial, cannot pick any age they choose. Users stats do not change, Small animals turn into Children, Medium into Teenagers, Large into Adults, and though they may use Justu, this is limited, and determined by their level. It also takes animals twice as long to learn Jutsu, meaning a 5 day Jutsu would take 10, and so on. Level 1-10 D-rank or below Level 11-30 C-rank or below Level 31 and beyond B-rank or below
Animals who cannot already talk will not be able to talk just by changing into human form, unless they already fully comprehended the language, and merely couldn't accurately vocalize it.

Skills
Pets have certain Skills that humans have. Obviously they cannot share all the skills because pets cannot do some of the things that humans can. Here is a list of the pet skills along with comments where applicable:
Diplomacy: Pets cannot talk, obviously, unless they are intelligent enough, but they can try to look cute or harmless and generally wheedle to get their way. Intimidate: Pets can also look scary... Pets get a bonus in this skill depending on their size, eg. Large animals get a +3 in Intimidate, Medium animals get +2 and while Tiny animals get a +1. Perform: Pets cannot sing, do stand-up comedy or play instruments. In fact they can only Dance and can only be taught to Act if your Handle Animal is 25 or above.
Acrobatics: For matters dealing with balance, agility, nimbleness etc; to escape from a grapple, trap or ropes. Stealth:
Athletics:
Awareness: Sense: This is Sense in the broad sense and does not only have to do with socialising. Sense can be used to sense a broken bridge or hostility from an enemy. Survival: How in-tune your animal is with nature. Track: Usable only by animals like canines, bears etc. (not deer or fish or anything..) for tracking.
Concentration:
Chakra Control: Your pet has chakra too!
Ninjutsu: Genjutsu: Taijutsu: Fuuin Jutsu: Medical Jutsu: Sneak Attack:

Level Up
At level up your partner in crime still gets the same stuff you do:
* You recalculate your pets Hp using the formula [10 + con mod] x level * You recalculate your pets Cp using the formula [4 + chk mod] x level * You recalculate your pets MHp using the formula [6 + wis mod] x level * 3 Ability points. * +10 Distributable skill points * Your pet's base attack will be increased by +1 * Your pet's base saves will increase depending on the level. Refer to the Abilities thread for more information. * Your pet might receive extra attacks per round depending on its level.

Teamwork
Although no more rolling for talking which is awesome. You can also become one with your pet by teamwork. When you reach level five, you can use teamwork with your pet to make your attack with some kick to it.
Human 1d20 + Concentration + Handle Animal
Pet: 1d20 + concentration + Sense
Karite and Core are fighting against CARLOS!, so to beat his face, we will use teamwork. So Karite would roll:
1d20 + Concentration [24] + Handle Animal [30] = Teamwork Total 1d20 + attack melee [36] = Attack Total
If Karite rolls a five then a seven, his Teamwork Total would be 59, and her Attack Total would be 43. So far, the attack is successful - now its time for Core's rolls.
1d20 + Concentration [12] + Sense [14] = Teamwork Total 1d20 + attack melee [20] = Attack Total
Core rolls a 12 and a 2, that brings his own Teamwork to 38, and his Attack to 22. Now, add Karite and Core's teamwork and attacks.
Teamwork Total = 30 + 38 = 68 Attack Total = 27 + 22 = 51
The teamwork total is greater than the attack total, that is what your looking for. This means your attack is successful, and instead of your opponent dodging 27 and 22 at two different times, your opponent now has to dodge an attack of 51, not easily done. Now, if Karite and Core's opponent, CARLOS!, dodges this, then they will have to try again. But, if CARLOS! doesn't dodge, both Karite and Core roll their own damage against him.
But if the Teamwork would have failed, like below
Teamwork Total = 51 Attack Total = 68
then, your teamwork is canceled and each attack goes on its own - two attacks instead of one great big one. Burn it into your memory! Cause Carlos must LOSE!
