Most sites only make estimations, but it was really unnavoidable, Wii already sold more than Xbox 360 in many sites, like Next-Gen Wars and others.

Technically, Wii already got over Xbox 360 a long time ago, due to the "Shiped X Sold" phenomenon. Nintendo counts actual sales, when actual people get them, Sony and Microsoft count how many they sell for the stores, meaning there may still be consoles waiting on the stores' stocks.

Microsoft shiped too many Xbox 360, probably to make a big number and delay the Wii's takeover as much as they could, for reasons we will see latter. In resume, Microsoft shiped too many consoles, so sales stagnated, because the stores didn't need to stock anymore, meanwhile Nintendo is having problems to keep stocks, selling a million around the world a month, leaving stores empty.

Why would Microsoft delay unavoidable? Because this may have a twist September 2007... "Finish the Fight!" Never heard this sentence? Halo 3 is going to be released and scared many other games that were going to be released close to it.

Halo was known for making the original Xbox known and Halo 2 had so much marketing that it was probably the reason Xbox was able to get over GameCube in the end, even coming out later it's sales got much bigger than the purple cube's ones.

Besides Halo 3, Xbox 360 also has under it's sleeves Bioshock, wich may give Xbox 360 the upper hand over Wii again, which is going to have, now this August 27, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and later in November and December Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl, respectivelly, while Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are going to share Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft's new "Prince of Persia".

What really made the two look bad is that many of the games are not getting as good as expected in the reviews, PS3's Heavenly Sword ended up beign just a usual action game, while 360's Blue Dragon also ended up beign just a usual RPG =( this must bring problems to their sales...

In the end, it's good to have some competition, after Sony's absolute domination of the market in the last two generations, Wii and Xbox 360 are in a race and PS3 is a slug. It's a horse race whose victory is gonna be decided by the picture o/
