About the girl Name: Qiao
Age: 13
Birthplace: A small village in the Earth Kingdom
Residence: Anywhere really, she traveled with her grandfather and now travels with a Fire Nation circus.
About the girl: Qiao is a girl who never really got to be a kid. Her whole life was made up of traveling with her grandfather making maps. She never suffered from unhappiness, just boredom. Unless it was time to hide from the police, in which case she got to exert a little more energy.
Qiao tends to be very serious in most situations and likes getting all the facts before getting into anything. But she's also easily swayed into things if they seem more fun than safe.
Qiao likes joking around and poking fun at people with her blunt honestly and snappy saracasm. She never likes to seem weak around people she finds a challenge but she melts completely for people she likes. She hates seeing people sad and always feels the need to cheer them up. Even if they don't want her to. For the most part, all she really needs to do is relax and she might get to have some sort of childhood while she can.
Background: Being born to a pair of nomads, Qiao has always been used to traveling and has never stayed in one place for longer than a month. As far as she can remember, she'd been traveling with her grandfather all her life. Her parents and older brother all went their own ways, leaving her with the old man.
Her grandfather made his living by making and selling maps and taught Qiao the trade so she could help him out. She always made her own salary and is pretty self-sufficient for her age. She'd always been taking care of her grandfather and getting him out of trouble, leading her to have a stunted childhood.
She's recently made the decision to floow her new friends and join a Fire Nation circus and now makes costumes and posters for the shows.

The folks Mingzhu: Qiao's mother, a former waitress at a tea shop in an Earth Kingdom village. Mingzhu is probably where Qiao got most of her personality as Ming was always very serious. When she ran away with Qiao's father, she went native and became a glutton for freedom. She loved her children but wasn't about to let them tie her down, so it was her decision to leave Qiao with her father so she could continue traveling with her husband in peace.
Liu: Qiao's father and a natural-born nomad. Where Qiao got her sense of humor. Liu is always able to make light of any situation and can convince anyone into anything. Using this ability to charm Qiao's mother, he and she traveled until Mingzhu got pregnant. After Qiao was born, he and Mingzhu continued their traveling and rarely sees his own children.
Shan: Qiao's brother who's about 7 years older than her. Shan takes completely after his father, and travels on his own. A womanizer as well as a street performer when not traveling, Qiao has vague memories of him being very funny.
Gen: Qiao's grandfather and primary care-taker. In his youth, Gen was a great earthbender and taught most of what Qiao knows to her when she was younger. Gen is very childish and prone to getting in trouble with the law with his scams and pranks. He can be very understanding, and is a big push-over for the people he loves.

I can do it too! BENDING: Qiao has a pretty sloppy grasp on her bending ability. She only uses it when she really needs to but doesn't hate it. She hopes to improve some day but it can wait.
WEAPONS: None, unless you count her wit and ability to paint squiggly mustaches on posters when she has a paintbrush.
COMBAT: Has gotten very good at hiding from the police.
OTHER: Knows how to sew and makes all her own clothes.

Friends can be very supportive
Esen: Qiao met this sandbender from the Si Wong dessert while traveling through Ba Sing Se. She realy likes her style and admires how far she's traveled.
Tingzhe: A circus acrobat Qiao met when he asked her to help him find his friend. She finds him very conceited but funny. A good challenge for insults and the prettiest girl she's ever seen. He convinced her to run off with him to join the circus.
Shen Ru: The friend Qiao was asked to help find for Tingzhe. Also convinced to join the circus. He's a quiet poet and Qiao wants to make posters with him in the circus. She likes how cute and quiet he is.
