This thread exists for the purpose of detailing the physical nature of the omniverse as has been established by the Guild. In this setting, time travel is possible, however alternate realities are not possible. There are eleven dimensions: Alter Space (alternatively known as the Void or the Warp), Subspace-Alpha, Inter Space Alpha, Subspace-Beta, Normal Space, Subspace-Gamma, Inter Space Beta, Subspace-Delta, Hyperspace, Time, and Probability.

**Note** If there are ever any questions, contact me (DC) and I will clarify. If you raise a good point, I will then add that to the thread. Remember that there are always stupid questions, but I'll answer anyway and this is text-based so I really can't hurt you can I?

Points of Note regarding Dimensions:

Alter Space: Alter Space, alternatively referred to as the Void or the Warp, can possibly be best described as the 'anti' Normal Space. Virtually nothing is known about this space, but it does possess discrete energy and matter. Normal Space matter becomes warped or tainted when exposed to the Void. The Void is a fluid and infinitely changing space in which no point in space or time holds any naturally fixed correlation to any other point in space or time. This means that the distance between to points in Alter Space may be infinitely small or infinitely great at any given moment and it cannot be known which it will be until the distance is actually traversed. This unpredictability is what incurs the massive power requirements in entering the Void as that forces a correlation between a point in Normal Space and Time and a point in Alter Space. It is known that there can exist beings within the Void, but so far no such creature has been encountered.

Hyperspace: Hyperspace is a dimension that in many ways parallels Normal Space. The primary distinction being that the speed of light in hyperspace is significantly higher than that of Normal Space. Thus, travel through Hyperspace enables relatively faster than light travel from a Normal Space perspective.

Normal Space:

Inter Space: Inter Space is the dimension that divides Alter Space, Normal Space, and Hyperspace from each other. As such, all properties of the dimension as extremely compressed, with the dimension filled with a sort of fluid ether of physical matter (ooc: think Fluidspace from Star Trek), this is a result of an extremely low level of energy overall with everything having condensed into matter. This is an extremely stable dimension with the potential to absorb vast amounts of energy without effect.

Probability: Probability is the chance that an event will occur. Known events that have occurred have a Probability of 100%. Probability can be viewed as a string of potential state, where each state has a certain probability of occurring. States near the end of the string have the lowest probability. Nearer states are more alike. A set of distinct probable events together can be taken as a potential alternate reality.

Subspace: Subspace is the extremely energized division between all dimensions and is in fact the primary obstacle to bridging dimensions. When a stable wormhole forms between two dimensions, the vast energies that bleed from subspace are almost entirely absorbed by Inter Space. However, if the bridge is incomplete, subspace energies bleed directly into Normal Space to devastating effect. The energies inherent to Subspace are the cause of the energy spike apparent with the formation of Hyperspace windows.

There are four 'bands' of Subspace, Alpha through Delta, each with multiple energies levels or frequencies. Subspace is often used for communication because the extreme energy states of this dimension allow for nearly instantaneous propagation of energy waves. The result is clear, simple superluminal medium for communication. The most commonly used band of Subspace is Subspace-Gamma as it is 'nearest' to Normal Space. However, the Mirai often use Subspace-Delta when they do use Subspace because they spend more time in Hyperspace than in Normal Space.

Time: Time is the flow of change, from one event to the next. However, time is malleable, slowing and even reversing under the right conditions. As photons are the quanta (distinct packets or particles of energy) of electro-magnetic radiation and gravitons are the quanta of gravity, chronotons are the quanta of Time, or Change. Chronotons are naturally present in all things throughout the universe. As a general rule, they are evenly distributed; however, extreme gravity fields and objects moving at high velocities possess fewer chronotons.

Regarding Alternate Realities:

The existence of Alternate Realities requires that the flow of time be absolute and constant on the whole. For multiple realities to exist and be created for each probable outcome, time must always flow and flow in one direction. To demonstrate this, we have to rely on Relativity. From a stand point independent of any reality, outside of all of them, time can be measured by the number of realities that exist. This assumes that time is the measure of change and that the most apparent change is the number of realities. By that measure, time flows in only one direction and travel back in time would require the collapse of an infinite number of realities.

This can therefore be taken to mean that Time Travel precludes the Alternate Reality model. In which case, Time itself is a dimension or relative state and as such, time is simply the state of change and can be reversed, slowed, or accelerated.
