Announcement Before you use the new Marketplace, be aware of this major change: There is now a 2% listing fee for all items in the Marketplace. This means that if your item is sold, Gaia will take a 2% cut of the selling price. This will help stabilize the Gaia economy by controlling inflation and preventing abuse of the Marketplace. However, this means that we no longer have to require vending licenses, so everyone who has previously bought one will have their 1000 Gaia Gold refunded. Sagger-AT3 And the big issue at hand is not inflation - a 2 % listing fee will not affect inflation. It will not stop it nor will it speed it up. It is all about providing better information for all Gaians about the prices, in a sustainable way. And about raising the NPC store buy- back price: good idea. We have been debating it for a while, and probably will debate it more. One major problem would be that this IS intervention in prices, which we don't really want to do. But it's something we need to study further. BULL. Sh.... CRAP.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. It won't effect anyone too much, yet it could help to lower the prices. I'm taking economics so I find the situation interesting, though the economics here are different than real life economics because there is no scarcity involved (except for the monthly collectibles).

Oh, come now. I'm taking Economics too (and my grandmother and mother are real estate tycoons) and within the first two weeks of school we've pretty much covered this. whee Taxes don't usually help inflation unless the tax money is being used for other things. Although, I agree with all tax except income tax, which is what this is. ninja Oh. And death tax. That stuff is bull. Sales tax/BBB/etc tax is pretty good in the long run, helping towns and what-not.

Set market price for all items change the base price over 1k= a 5% Fee Per 1,000G
that would sure beat the hell out of a 2% fee for listing

Well, it's not meant to be taxes. The problem is that people acquire large amounts of gold from no where for posting, voting, etc. and if that amount is not being sent back into the system (by buying from NPCs) the value of the gold will decrease, sending prices higher because with more gold in circulation, everyone can afford the high prices. The 2% listing fee is a gold drain. They hope to remove some of the gold in circulation.

I think it's time Gaia decided to crack down on bots. They're the ones effing up the econemy, by getting lots of gold then selling it cheap on the internet. anyone agree?

I agree completely with that. I mean, look at the fishing stats sometime. Usually they're filled with bots that Gaia hasn't done anything about.

But then that would be logical and helpful, a concept quite foreign to most higher ups. *eyeroll* I absolutely agree, though. Instead of adding new doohickeys, perhaps their time would be better spent remedying current problems. Then again they seem to think this is a solution, though I honestly don't understand or see how.

It's like when your parents say something is for 'your own good' rolleyes
