Today, the winds provided quite a pleasant updraft for flight. Roka had taken to the skies earlier, scanning the ground now and then for familiar faces. Nothing had been spotted so far, and so he continued to weave around the surrounding winds, feathers embracing their gentle caress.

The beautiful yet uneventful day had passed halfway already, and all Roka had managed to accomplish was lazing about near the river of his homestead. Where did everyone go? His family, no doubt, was wandering around the woods again, but it wasn't his mother or his father that he wanted to see. His own offspring were another story altogether. This was a time to relax, and perhaps soar enthusiastically with the vivid wonders of the world, just like he had in his more youthful days. But where were the butterflies..?

He had seemed, for the moment, lost in thought, drifting around the sky's clouds. If a tall tree had been in his way, he would have surely crashed into it. He was oblivious to all around him now, his whole attention focused on one small butterfly that resided in his heart...

Hinote floated wearily beneath his brother. He knew what kind of trances Roka usually went into, so perhaps it was wise that he kept an eye on him... even though he was younger. Age, after all, scarcely depicted maturity.

For a moment, his eyes focused down on the ground. Two faint spots moved along the terrain together in a fluid motion--their shadows. He smiled vaguely and then thought of something... Something was missing. He couldn't quite realize what it was, but...

Hinote grunted as his gaze flickered upwards. Something was indeed missing, and it was family. Where had their sisters been, and... their third brother?

It has been awhile, Jinx mused, his wings crossing the air gallantly (or, more correctly, as gallantly as a giant horse with wings stuck to his sides could be; which is to say, rather awkwardly) as he made his way through the winds of his birthplace. To be sure, it was a good day for flying - so much so that the soquili had to put barely any thought into staying upright, which was fortunate, given that he didn't have much thought to put into it in the first place. He had been planning on seeing his family, since it, as he aptly described, had been awhile, but the teepee and the surrounding land had been deserted. He presently seemed to be circling aimlessly and thoughtfully over his homestead, perhaps being of the belief that he was travelling in a relatively straight line, though being too preoccupied with being lost in thought to notice the contrary.

... that is to say (or think, to be more accurate), it is highly unlikely that any of them will spontaneously come falling out of the sky any time soon, Jinx finished, finding his conclusion satisfactory. And it is with this resolution that he turns, and is rudely interrupted by an impromptu collision with a sizeable mass of black and white hooves and feathers.

THUMP, the stallions went as Roka, obviously snapping out of his usual coma, struggled to keep himself in the air--What was that?!

Down, down he went, wings thrashing against the current attempting to right themselves--but to no avail. He had lost his control in the air, and whatever had brought him down was right beside him. Slightly frustrated, Roka craned his head over to get a better glimpse of his attacker, and blinked twice in succession. It wasn't--

The silver stallion had heard a soft sound somewhere above him, and barely had time to pause to see what had happened. By the time he raised his head up, he lowered it once again in effort to protect it from what came. Feebly attempting to steer out of the way, poor Hinote could not avoid fate, and felt a heavy slam knock all of the breath from his lungs, and he felt the wind become bitter as it slashed at him instead as he hurtled downwards...

At possibly the last second, Roka had nearly righted himself, and whether it was from pure skill or a miracle did not matter; it seemed like another miracle had just occurred, as it had been ages since he had seen his youngest brother. Perhaps his glimpse at first was even an apparition from the pure shock of being slammed into in mid-air--he had to know, however, so he spread his wings wide and let the natural wind create a safer albeit clumsy landing for himself.

He had just noticed the presence of his other brother as well--Hinote had most likely been keeping him company somewhere near, and Roka had not noticed because of the silent nature of his younger brother. Ah, how his two brothers betrayed him!

It took a moment for Roka to settle himself before he turned to the other two, still a bit dazed from his abrupt collision. He was confused at whether he should have been displaying outright anger at the intrusion, or warm joy that his two brothers were here, reuniting the trio. Because of his bafflement, he displayed neither emotion and instead stepped towards them, almost a spring in his step, and called out, "Brothers! How interesting to see you." It was clear that Roka was not flustered from the aerial attack... nor did he care for what reason may have brought the two to his side.

Jinx, through some miracle and some small violation of physics suffered little injury in the tumble, and when he rolled over from where he lay sprawled out on the grass he was little more than dazed and dizzy from the descent. He replied to the disembodied voice automatically without realising, "Oh hello there!"

He hesitated after that, considering getting up and decided to dismiss the thought until he could see straight. It took a moment for his vision to stop spinning and he tilted his head at the two familiar figures before him, still rather disorientated, "Er. Oh! Roka! Hinote! I was looking for you two!" His voice was distant, though he seemed thoroughly pleased with himself, smiling uncharacteristically complacently.

It was with obvious realization that Hinote had been the one brother to suffer the most damage, as he had been the one who was underneath the both of them. Shaking his head, the quietest brother of the three blinked to clear his fuzzy vision, merely happy he had not suffered more than mere bodily injury. Golden eyes becoming their usual clear, observant glossiness, Hinote saw that the collision had been due to both of his brothers--the elder and the younger--having crashed into each other, which, in the end, resulted in him being--somewhat--a cushion. Delightful.

The sarcasm that came with the word filled his head briefly before he smiled at Roka and Jinx, his personal way of saying hello. After all, he didn't like to talk much--what was there to talk about when one could learn so much just by watching and listening?--and so he settled to nod to both, although he had figured Roka hadn't noticed he had followed him just to make sure Roka didn't end up in a heap of trouble. Of course, being who he was, Roka hadn't noticed him either, not that Hinote had given any implication he had decided to tag along.

A moment of silent contemplation passed, and then, finally, the silver, lightly blue marked stallion returned his attention to his siblings, delighted to know the trio had reunited after such a long time.

Roka gazed at the two brothers still on the ground momentarily, taking a considerable time letting his eyes linger over Jinx, who was in a particularly peculiar position. Hinote, of course, remained silent as always--Roka had, for part of his life, seen Hinote come and go without so much as a word. It did not bother Roka at all, however it was quite a pity that his younger brother inherited a more extreme form of their parents' personalities.

Roka was about to trot over to the wonderful patch of flowers a few yards away until Jinx spoke, and Roka found himself eyeing his youngest brother once more. He had been sought out? Surely it was not by mere coincidence that the three brothers had crashed in the air, and perhaps Jinx was the cause of it all. Ah well, no matter.

"Well, here I am, Jinx," Roka said calmly, placing a fervent smile on his face. He walked over to Jinx and attempted a push to the side using his head, supposing it was his duty to aid his siblings in getting back on their hooves. He then went and did the same to Hinote, and before anyone could utter a word in reply, Roka quickly stepped to a small indigo flower on the ground that had apparently given a somewhat large butterfly its residence. "Hellooo," he cooed out, and it seemed for a moment that Roka forgot about his brothers' present existences entirely.

"So it would seem!" Jinx replied, absently cheerful. He almost rolled over when Roka nudged him, and instead staggered to his feet with his brother's aid, almost falling, but deciding not to. He flapped his wings out, possibly unceremoniously hitting one of his brothers in the face while regaining his balance, prancing from foot to foot and looking ridiculous for a stallion his age. He was distracted from his valiant posing by the abrupt noise of his older elder brother greeting something on the floor, and he scuttled over, ever plagued with an avid curiousity.

"What? Who're you talking at now, Roka?" he almost trampled his brother in his eagerness, hooves coming unnervingly close to striking the butterfly and its humble abode.

He managed to stagger back into a dignifying position with Roka's help, though his body shook with silent mirth when he noticed Jinx, looking all the world like a young colt in a stallion's body. Being the youngest of the three brothers, Hinote wondered for a moment what Jinx felt momentarily before he shrugged, his curiosity snagged by Roka walking away and saying a greeting to something on the ground.

Curiosity seemed to run through the family, as just when Hinote took a mere step forward, Jinx came trotting by with enthusiastic eagerness, making the middle brother shake his head in amusement as Jinx nearly knocked Roka over. For a minute, he wondered if he should give voice to tell Jinx to take it easy and to be careful, but then shrugged, knowing Roka more than likely wouldn't care.

His mind was blank and hazy now, since Hinote decided he would just enjoy the moment. Golden eyes watched his brothers carefully in case some trouble decided to brew, but the silver stallion figured nothing too out of the ordinary would happen. He highly doubted he and his family could injure each other badly enough, and if that happened, it would be through accidents more than through fighting. He let a soft chuckle escape his lips at his strange thoughts.

In the days before his youth, Roka wouldn't have minded Jinx's precarious footing around anything, but ever since one fateful day in his life, he had taken a strong liking for butterflies. He watched it flutter away in anxiety or fright of some sort, and stared at the hoof that Jinx used to almost crush the poor flower.

"Watch that, Jinx!" he emphasized. He stepped towards his youngest, and possibly most peculiar brother in spite of the one that didn't speak, and gave him a quick buck to the flank.

He backed off and almost immediately again, gave a half humorous smile. Of course he wasn't going to hold the incident against Jinx, as they were family, and Roka was originally carefree to begin with!

"So, what have you been doing?" he asked nonchalantly, turning his head to the clouds. "We haven't seen you for a while, you know, Jinx." Roka gestured to Hinote with his wing, "I mean, me and Hinote. Hinote comes over to our place with mom more than you... What happened?" Not that Roka cared, but it would make for good small talk and stories while he looked at the skies, searching for shapes that resembled anything familiar.

(( AH *COMPLEEETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS UNTIL AMY REMINDED ME* I'm very very veryyyy sorry for the delay T AT;;; That was horrible, even for me. ))

Jinx whickered in surprise at Roka's sudden outlash, hopping back a few skittish steps in a flutter of feathers, "Eh? Oh, ah, yes, it has been awhile, hasn't it? Yes... Er."

He cleared his throat and made a significant show of gathering his thoughts, ruffling his feathers and puffing out his chest proudly, allowing his hair to be tossed dramatically into the wind as he gazed thoughtfully into an imaginary sunset somewhere in the far off distance. He appeared rather more queer than contemplative as he began his monologue, plowing through any possible interruptions: "Yes. You see, I have been on a journey. One of self discovery. A journey-of-self-discovery, if you would. That is to say, I went off in search of myself, you see. And then food and water, which did take awhile. And then any recognisable landmarks. Or signs of sentient life forms. But mostly! It was a journey towards self discovery, yes, as all great protagonists are destined to do, yes. And in the process, I met many a grand and heroic personage who were hospitable enough to permit me living space for an indefinite amount of time, yes."

He gestured a single wing violently for emphatic effect, almost falling over, "That is to say! I have been bonding with my platonic two-legged life companion!"

Though considerably quiet for the most part, Hinote was also the most reasonable of the three brothers. At the moment, though, he was caught between wondering whether to laugh himself silly or to just stare at Jinx as if the stallion had grown three heads with Kalona wings. Well, maybe nothing that descriptive but Hinote did love his imagination. He opted for the first option and let loose a fit of silent laughter. Jinx had the oddest way of relating his, ah, adventures, as it were...

But, as Roka said, he was quite curious of how Jinx had been doing, since the youngest brother never visited often, and it was rare when the entire family (let alone all three brothers!) was together. He gathered that he was closest to Roka (after all, the two were always together at some point), and though the thought was random, it, again, made Hinote wonder how Jinx felt about both of his older brothers... Probably not much, all three of them were fun-loving stallions and very kind, and Hinote thought they did well when together... if they were all a bit clumsy.

Two-legger? Bonding? His body shook violently with laughter left unheard, because he was even more unsure of how to respond to such... a dramatic announcement. Golden eyes flashed to show off the extreme amusement, and all he could do was shake his head to calm down. Ah, peaceful days, where had they gone?

A sudden snort erupted from Roka, cutting short his time with sky gazing. It came shortly before Jinx's "speech" ended, and the eldest wasted no time in stating his exact thoughts:

"You always talked like that, Jinx, or has it really been that long?"

He stopped to take a good look at Jinx -- and then Hinote.

"You two need... new hobbies," he stated with an affirmative nod.

Of course, he was indiscreetly voicing his opinion that Hinote should probably take up the hobby of talking more; likewise, it would also be in the best interest of Jinx to vocalize less. Roka barely took in half, if any of Jinx's speech!

And in the middle of his thought process, Roka could hardly help but notice Hinote's intense bodily vibration. He took a step or two towards him, feeling slightly concerned about the welfare of his brother. Though the shaking stopped, Roka had to inquire anyways:

"Was there just an earthquake on your part of the ground?"

Jinx remained adamantly oblivious to his brother's hints, continuing to babble on in response to his advice, "I don't believe I've noticed any changes in my speech! Although now, you see..." He flung his wings out again proudly, "I am well-traveled and well equipped with life experiences to well supplement my fluency with words! I have many a story to tell you two! And my hobbies are perfectly fine, thank you very much! Not that I have any right now, in this current place and at this current point in time... That is to say, that is to say, while I am, by natural disposition, always perfectly open to new opportunities and changes in lifestyle I am rather attached to my current hobbies. Or lack thereof, you see, that is... That is..."

The stallion trailed off, puzzled and miraculously interrupting his own stream of consciousness as he overheard the mention of earthquakes. Without pause for thought, Jinx made a perhaps even more queer expression at Hinote in a mixture of awe and concern, "Starting earthquakes now are you, dear Hinote? My, have I missed that much of the development of my most belovéd siblings? This will not do! Tell me more of these earthquakes of yours!"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 11, 2007 4:18 pm

Earthquakes? It took a moment for him to understand what his brothers were getting at, and then more silent laughter erupted, his body shaking once more. He was far too easily amused! He stared at Jinx for a minute, wondering why he would start an earthquake before, again, he realized the reason why. Roka had asked the question, which had more than likely spurred his younger brother Jinx to ask the other question.

...Ah, he was confusing himself. He smiled brightly at his brothers as he took a moment to calm himself. "I... no, there are no earthquakes, brother," he answered in his usual quiet way. He didn't want to explain that he had been laughing, since he wasn't sure if Roka and Jinx would take offense, but somehow he knew they probably wouldn't. He ended up merely having a twitching mouth that itched to laugh aloud.

Hobbies? Perhaps his "hobby" to be quiet probably urged Roka to call it that, however... he enjoyed being quiet. It gave him more room to enjoy the nature around him, after all. Oh... to answer Jinx. "No earthquakes... just laughter. And enjoyment," he finished abruptly, and then stretched out his cramped wings. He figured that this day had gone quite well if he had just now noticed how quickly time was passing by...

Throughout Jinx's speech Roka couldn't help but sense a strong buzzing noise clouding his thoughts and hearing. He shook his head multiple times to get rid of it, but it was all he could make out for the entire duration of Jinx's monologue. However, it came as quite a delightful surprise when the buzzing noise ended definitely as Jinx uttered his last word.

That was quite odd, Roka reflected to himself, and the introduction of the disturbing noise averted his attention completely from the shaking Hinote had presently been doing. "But there are no bees around, none in sight," he voiced aloud, pondering where the source of the buzzing had come from.

But anyways--perhaps the noise had gone for good, and so he directed his focus to Jinx once more: "You seem to have much to say, Jinx, and so, would you be willing to thrill, charm, or simply content me and Hinote with your temporal adventures?"

He shook his head as if to dishearten the spirits of the occasion, "As if some mundane and simple story will please," but his teasing remark showed well in his playful smile. He liked to think that he was still as young in spirit as his two brothers, even though they were born a while apart.
