This is a thread where you can discuss what you like and dislike about Phantasy Star.

wow, where too start... um... well... music, character creation system, and level designs. PSO is better at the music and level design. I like the levels in PSO ep2 the best. PSU though has a much better character creation system. mrgreen

I love the character creation of PSU. Every character is personal. PSO was very cool when you could play multi player offline. I haven't really listened to the music.

The music in PSO seemed drone onward after you played through the level 10 or 20 times, I haven't had that happen yet in PSU. Altough there are more race options in PSU, the outfits are extremely limited making me have to make friends with several people that look the same (I get confused easily) unlike in PSU where I could go "OK, he was the guy with the spiky hair, blue suit, and liked sabers." Maybe it's just a personal problem I dunno.
I definetly liked the item synthesis in PSU rather than having to hope for that rare drop in PSO. (Irritating drop rates.) But in PSO you had the awesome MAG thingamajig, whereas in PSU you have to feed your stupid Partner Machine thing (I don't want to waste my poor Trimates *sniffle* I miss my Trimates.)

Oh yeses, I miss the mags. I loved feeding those cute things. PSU has many different clothes options, and you get to change into them whenever you buy them. I like that. I miss the offline multi player though. crying

PSO: I love how the music changes from idle wandering to 'battle mode' -- it's a seamless transition and never fails to get me excited! (except in the forest levels x_x) The level design is also still great, even now. Man, how I miss the Mine stages~... You could also just run out into any given field with reckless abandon without having to take on a mission. On the other hand, the leveling feels like a grind after you pass 20. Male androids were far too inhuman-looking for my tastes, though most other characters looked fine. The human forces looked a tad too similar, but that's just nitpicking. XP And one more for the good: ...I miss Mags. crying It's not specific, I just miss them in general.

PSU: The general aesthetic is great; everything looks consistent, appropriate, and pleasing. The character design is nice and character creation is very versatile. Allowing any character to become any given class at any time kind of takes out the need for specialization, but is an easy way for one to try everything without being forced to create another character. The mission-based format, while not as free-wheeling as PSO, is still nicely done, and it's a relief that very, very few network missions are timed, as compared to offline. On the darker side of things, synthing, while it seems promising, is the biggest downer about the game. Synth ingredients/boards are so rare and/or expensive, and the success rates for the best stuff, even with a "pure" PM, are abysmal. Again being nitpicky, CASTs also seem to have less options for individuality than the 'fleshie' races, moreso for male Casts(unless you -like- being a walking box). Let's hope AoI gets M-Casts some more fashionable parts!

wow, that was more than i expected to put down XD

Yes, again, the free roam in PSO. I loved that too. In PSU you have to take on a mission to go somewhere. I miss free roam.

Both games...we don't get as much coverage on them as they don in Japan. All we get are updates. Japan constantly has tournaments and prizes handed out to those groups that have the highest score. Hell even get some real prizes too I think. Plus their web pages are more attractive than the US. Then again, the American companies are always just thinking about the money and don't give a rats a** about the product they release. Another thing...this one for PSU...voices. Though not terrible, I wish they would've left the japanese voices and let you choose which one would you add to your character.

I think I'm done...-_-

Edit: Oh and to top it off...they're celebrating the 1st year anniversary of PSU in Japan. The US website mentions nothing about it... stare

Aman! I fully agree to that!

But about the anniversary thing will most like have to wait 1 or 2months for it. Cause to US/EU and JP players that play on 360 it's not PSU anniversary yet u_u

The hell with the 360 users, they've always thought they're the sh*t with their voice chat. They can celebrate their own date on the anniversary for all I care.

Hey guys guess what...Sega of America left out a clothing update...that dates back to June 2007.

http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/news/wis/?mode=view&id=352

And among...

http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/news/wis/?mode=q_list&offset=0

...other things as well. For one...Hal shows up in a mission as well as that strange CAST that Ethan meets everywhere in Story mode. I'm seriously starting to HATE Sega now -_-.

*Pats on the back* Clam down L. Kightstar.

The reason why we haven't gotten this yet cause all of this stuff is an event
We should get it soon like we got Fire break... That is if Sega decied to sponser the event, Cause in Japan other companys sponser this kind of stuff. It was a big surprise that Sega sponser Fire Break for the US/EU/JP 360 players. Anyway im sure will see this stuff soon.

But when it does come out you should save your Rappy Feathers cause that's the only way you will be able to get those outfits, Is to trade Rappy Feathers.
And they will only be get able during the event.

oh my god formal dress for Casts @.x *mental-image-gasm* I hope it's not -too- many Rappy Feathers, I don't even have one. XD; (on that note, I just renewed my subscription! I just hope I can get back on tonight~)
