As the sun drifted slowly towards the horizon, splashing the world of Soquili in deep, elongated shadows and the beautiful tones of sunset, a lone Soquili grazed in the thick grass of the plains surrounding her beloved home - the forest. Fingers of orange and purple stretched lazily across the sky, like the paintings she had seen among the tents of the people. As the thought of people popped into her mind, she turned those beautiful, deep ocean eyes away from the sight of the sunset and resumed her grazing. It seemed like everything she thought of would somehow link back to the thoughts that plagued her so fervently.
What life was this that she had chosen? She had deserted a chance at pure happiness, skittish of the lifestyle it would have entitled. Why did humans bother her so much, had she not been born among them? She pushed the thought away for the millionth time, tired of the plaguing thoughts that had been eating at her mind ever since that day. She had left him behind, regretfully, and a child she would never know. However, these days, her life wasn't too terrible.
She had raised two beautiful sons, sons that loved their mother beyond reason. Though Cerek had moments where she wished to trample him, he was still a beautiful stallion - albeit a little too flirty with the females. Khilan, bless his soul, was a gentle male that reminded her far too much of the one she had left behind. He had helped her with Cerek when they were foals and he tried, for his mother's sanity, to keep the boy in line as much as possible now. What more could a mother ask for? A daughter, perhaps. She had always wanted a little girl, and might have one somewhere.
"Live with your mistakes, Shaitani," she whispered to herself, stalking a bit farther from the treeline and out into the warmth of the sun. She gave her head a soft shake, tossing those blue locks out of her equally blue eyes.

Jean had traveled a bit now, and he was finally beginning to feel too old to be traveling at the rate he was. He shook his head, letting black curls bob up and down his milky creme neck. He was a very pale stallion, with eyes the color of midnight, and fangs that stuck out frmo his mouth.
His muscles tensed as he slowed himself from his usual pace. His body was getting older, even though he wasnt old. He was beginning to realize he should settle himself down. He had three wonderful children, two of which really h ad no idea who he was.
He had a lovely daughter he had raised. Raised without the support of a mother, Naina had become strong, and fearless.. And quite frankly, he was wishing he had had that mother figure for her. Esperanza and Marahute had helped for awhile, then for another while it was just Marahute.. but Naina had needed someone true.
He had been a terrible father. Trying to erase his daughters personality because it reminded him far too much of a mare he could no longer stand. He shook his head again. He hadnt even been here before. He hoped the inhabitants werent too bothersome.
His dakr eyes were scanning the area, looking for SOMETHING of interest. Even if that something of interest happened to be another Soquili. At this point, he'd talk to about anyone. He was a flirty stallion.. Or he had been. He was so out of touch now. He had removed himself from the world, and had become a hermit. Now here he was. Out again, and finally realizing he shouldnt be traveling anymore.

As Shaitani moved farther out into the lush vegetation of the field around her, she let her mind wander over the things she knew she done right, attempting to push away the memory of her mistakes from her mind. She had raised two beautiful sons, both normal and happy. Though Cerek did have a spark in him that reminded her of her own father, Khilan and he both stayed with their mother in an attempt to complete their family as much as they could. Even if she could never have a mate that would be able to compromise with her situation or understand her fears, at least she could have her sons. They were not mistakes by any means, and she loved them both equally (even if she did fantasize about trampling Cerek into the ground from time to time).
Though she was not really old by any means, she was older than many of the young mares now trampling through the areas in search of a male's attention. She knew that she may never have a complete family, but she knew that it was also her own fault that she had abandoned perhaps her only chance at having one. She supposed that life was just never really meant for her.
As she raised her head from her grazing, a distant scent reached her. Perking up her ears and allowing them to swivel on her head, she strained for any sound. It wasn't, however, until the Soquili in the distance got a little closer that she actually saw him. She took a glance towards the haven of her home in the depths of the woods, then thought better of it. She couldn't run away from others forever. Perhaps talking to someone else would do her some good. So, standing her ground and looking more calm than not, she waited for the male to reach her - for he was unknowingly heading in her direction after all.

Jean wasn't really paying attention to the direction in which he was going. He wasnt really.. there.
His mind was racing as he was on the subject of his children. Trev, his only son, Memory, his eldest daughter.. and his personal baby, Naina. Naina was his shining star, but he had been a terrible father. He hadnt liked his life, so he made his, and the mare named Nostalgia's lives merciless.
His blue orbs glanced up, and he caught sight of the mare finally. She was looking at him, and he had the sense of maybe he had a second head growing out of his shoulders.. But he shook the one head he knew himself to have and stopped.
"Hello?"

Had Shaitani, in some way, ruined the lives of her sons? Had she forced them to grow up without a father simply because she was skittish around humans? Had she abandoned her third child for no reason at all? Trying to tell herself that she had brought the boys with her because she loved her children, and that she had left the third behind so that Eloran wouldn't be alone, she let her mind wander over what she could have done differently. If Eloran could have understood the fear of humans she seemed to have developed sometime between childhood and adulthood, perhaps he wouldn't have insisted that they live there among them. But he had loved them, and she had not. A love could not exist that way.
Shaking her head in a second attempt to rid these thoughts from her mind, she let her eyes settled on the more immediate issue. There was a stallion coming towards her, probably bent on conversation, and she had spent the last few months avoiding the company of any other except for her two sons. Would she be alright with this? Sighing to herself, she realized that she couldn't run away from the world forever just because she thought she had made a very huge mistake. She would have to live with this, and thus, let the world see it.
"Hello," she called back, her voice eloquent and lyrical by every right, soft melodic tones that danced with her words. She had had that gift as you might call it since she was little - perhaps inherited from her sweet-talking father.

The mare was pretty. She had blue streaks in her brown white mane and tail, and her eyes were the mostly lovely shade. Maybe a few shades lighter than the sapphire hue of his own. He looked at her, in wonder. He had seen very few Soquilis as of late, as he had tried to stay away from so many.
"Im sorry to intrude, mademoiselle.. I daresay that I was just passing through."
He really didnt mind the thought of talking to such a pretty mare, but shelooked as if he had caught her unaware and he truly didnt want her to feel uncomfortable.

The stallion before her was fairly easy on the eyes, as far as she could tell, but she had seen a dozen stallion's worth a second glance that she could recall, and many of them turned out to really not be worth the time. She was past the point of basing any judgment on outward appearances and did it all based on personality. She certainly wouldn't stick around if a personality was as hyped up as an appearance, or if a Soquili had too much energy to handle.
At his words, a soft smirk simply stretched across her mug. He was a bit of a sweet talker if first impressions counted for anything, but she wouldn't strike that against him. After all, her son was a sweet talker, but was a generally sweet individual. It had been a long time, too, since she had been in someone's company and she felt like today was as good a day as any to break that spell. She'd give him the chance - after all, if she decided that she really didn't want to waste the time with him, she could always turn and go home.
"Oh, no," she said with a simple shake of her head, sending her short, tufted mane swaying slightly in the air flows the motion created, "you're not intruding in the slightest. I'm simply grazing here." He really wasn't intruding on much, truthfully. Besides, the fields here were extremely large, stretching on in nearly every direction except for the one bordered by the forest. There was room for two of them, at least.

Having been in love with amare at one point, based souly on outward appearances, he truly didnt put much faith in appearance. He was a sturdy stallion, and he flirted yes.. But he was kind hearted in the long run, and he truly looked for love that he never truly had. Nostalgia had been upset that he was a wanderer.. She had left him because he had been out when their foals were born.. And he was, sadly, crushed by missing that event.. But the mare telling him he was too much of a sweet talker and not enough substance, had crushed him all the more. For it wasnt true..
"Well, then thats a good start."
He gave a little sweeping bow, throwing his maneover his shoulder to resist it blowing into his sapphire eyes. As he stood, he stood straight and tall. Dignified. Wow, how long had it been since he had stood like this?
"My name is Jean-Claude, and it is a pleasure to meet you, miss..."
His tongue was at a loss, as he knew not the mares name!

Love was not a subject that Shaitani particularly cared to touch on - at least not to the average Soquili. That could be, of course, because she didn't have any friends to whom she thought she could confide. In the end, however, it simply boiled down to one thing that kept her tongue stilled upon the subject more accurately named Eloran: she had, in a sense, betrayed him and left behind the child she would never know. That kept her still and reluctant to enter any subject that could be associated with him, love, or children.
The sweeping bow he offered was enough to slap a genuine smile in place, enough of one, at least, to make her eyes glitter in amusement. It was not unlike her eldest son's - though it was ultimately more flamboyant. Flirting never went too far in her book, but if done properly, it at least provided her with a little entertainment.
"Miss Shaitani, actually, but I would much prefer being called simpl Shaitani, or even Shai is acceptable," she said again, that lyrically eloquent voice seeming to float our of her mouth like music. It was the kind of voice one expected of a angel, or a goddess in the flesh.

As Jean stood, he watched the mare, keeping his eyes open, and on her, in case he might say something not so nice.
"Well, thats a marvelously lovely name." He commented, giving a smile. As he smiled, he knew his teeth were showing. And by teeth, fangs were a better word. He had forgotten, and hoped it wouldnt scare the mare off too terribly.
He never actually USED them anyway. He had as his warrior past unraveled, but he hadnt recently, it had been too long.
"What are you upto on such a fine day?"

She chuckled at his comment, something a lot of Soquili frequently said. However, she knew the meaning behind the name and was often prompted into amusement at the thought of it ever being 'lovely'. "Shaitani actually means devil, or demon, depending on who you ask," she said with a little smirk on her maw. Her parents had named her well - after all, she had turned out to be quite the angry little foal, and as an adult she was rather cruel when pressed the wrong way.
She caught the glimmer of his fangs, and quirked a brow in the direction of them. However, having seen so many odd things in her day, she never rose to comment upon them. She knew that many Soquili had been gifted with oddities of their physical being, and not all of them (though a quite a few did) used them to their actual purposes.
"Grazing, and thinking," she said, adding the second with a slight frown drawing down the corners of her mouth. However, realizing that she was only about to put herself back into the previous state of mind that she had worked so hard to free herself from, she glanced back up to him with her deep azure eyes. "And you, Monsieur, what are you doing out this way on such a fine day?"

He hadnt really been listening to the mare. Nodding, and accepting what she said as words? Yes. But actually listening? It had been so long since he had been around others, his mind just danced around while she was speaking..until shes said Monsieur. His eyes widened a bit, and he smiled.
"Well, names mean little." He at one time had been evil.. And his name didnt show anything other than he was french.
"What is in a name? You can call a rose by any other name and it would still smell as sweet, right?"
He grinned, and watched her.
So her name meant devil, eh? Well that was interesting. It made him want to inquire about her past. About why she had gained use of such a name.
"I do hope you dont mind my company. Im liking getting to know your... story."
Yeahyeahyeah. That was bold. He really just hadnt spoken to anyone in so long, that her story would be mildly interesting at least. It would give him something to ponder.
"I? I am merely walking around, looking for something interesting to happen in my life. Sadly, my days have been quite boring."

"I know names mean very little, and they're usually given prior to the development of personalities anyway," she said with a little shrug, though her mouth did quirk in the slightest little smirk as she thought of her days with Makya. She had been a little trouble maker at the best of times, but had been generally nice. She wouldn't have called herself a devil, but she had certainly been up to making trouble with her loving, blue-toned twin.
"I don't mind your company at all, though I'm not sure that my story is very interesting once once you get past the family dysfunctions," she said with a little head shake, thinking back to the hopelessness of her beautiful mother and the lack of enthusiasm in Intrepid's heart. She would never call him father, for he was simply a gene donor as far as she was concerned.
"My days lately have too been a little boring, but that is my own design," she said with a little, sad laugh. "I suppose I purposely did it, so that I could raise my boys in peace, away from the corruption of this world." She stopped, then laughed again, a little more amused, "little good it did Cerek."

He smiled, and nodded.
"Cerek? Is that the lucky one you are seeing?"
He didnt assume so, in fact, he almost felt as if it may be a child. She spoke of Cerek, the way he so often spoke of Naina. Who was indeed his child. His blood and soul as well.
"Ah yes. But being bored is of our own design always, as we are the ones who think of things to do, and tend to remain bored then trying the something we're thinking."

She snorted at what he said, coming very close to actually laughing at the thought. Seeing? She wasn't seeing anyone, and hadn't planned to any time soon, if she ever did again. She most certainly was not seeing Cerek - or anyone even vaguely similar to him for that matter. "Hardly," she said with a bit of a smirk on her maw, her voice taking on a very amused tone, "Cerek is my son. I have two."
She shrugged at his words, her tail flickering behind her as he spoke. "I know it's my fault that I stay bored," she said, glancing up towards him, shaking her head slightly to toss some of the short blue locks out, "but I'd rather be bored than be met by someone I dislike. I shut myself away on purpose."
