The day had finally passed and with the sun long fallen from the sky and behind the mountains, darkness consumed all light except for the rays of the moon that shone brightly through the cumulus clouds above. A light breeze rustled and whistled through the boughs of scattered trees while nights symphony of solace echoed through the plains and the open valley. Flicking his spiked devil tail about as his eyes, much life endless voids of complete nothingness, glanced about, Ezriel flares his nostrils slightly and shook his head.
There was a part of him that welcomed the darkness, embraced it and yearned to be like it while, another part of him, wanted to find safety and security away from the potential dangers including their father who, if he found them, wouldn't waste a single breath in any attempt to rid of he and his siblings if they were discovered.
This confliction, those voices within his head- that chilling, suave yet frightening voice that entangled itself within his mind and thoughts was something that made him uncertain, scared and a subject he woud never dare speak of. He wasn't crazy.
All Ezriel could do was to only hope that it would cease to plauge him.
But though there was a part of him that made him think that it would never go away.
As the breeze whisped about and caressed through his red mane, the young colt flared his nostrils with a gruff sigh and a shudder.
"Dante," he voiced low, ears flicking back as he took several steps backwards and continued to glance around. "Where are you? Lets go somewhere- somewhere else. I don't like it out here."

The silver being quickly heard his brothers plea, and was thankful that he had spoken out about his discomfort. Dante was also uncomfortable, and he felt that his mind was most clouded when darkness engulfed him. He had nothing to keep him distracted, so instead he -thought- he heard the many whispers of others biting at his senses. They were always talking around him, that even when he was in complete silence, the echos would follow in his brain for hours at a time. It was such a horrible pest, and Dante tried hard to protect his sanity and ignore the reoccurring voices.
He was saved at the moment that his ears had drifted to Ezriel's voice, and he felt himself breathe again as he realized the whispers weren't actually there at all. "Ok, can you see me?"
Both sons were born with a lighter shade of coat, which in their mother's eyes, reminded them of the father that they could never know. Their sister looked dark just like their mother, though held the wings and tail that their father apparently had as well. All three of them were mixed, and sadly in their mothers eyes, each one of them would always hold their fathers traits. How could they be proud, when something terrible lay in their blood?
Dante continued to inch his light body, until finally he saw a glimmer of white. Yes, that was Ezriel! "I see you!"
Now.. where to go? That was the next mission.

Meera wondered what her brothers were up to. A part of her wished she could call out to them and join them in what she was sure would be fun and games. She heard her mother and godmother whispering that she was 'mute'. She could understand everyone well enough and she could hear the thoughts in her head but she could not speak them.
Despite her lack of voice, she felt normal enough. She watched everything that went on around her, paying close attention to detail. She felt a little distant from her brothers. They were both very different than her, physically and perhaps in deeper ways. She was unsure. Perhaps it was the spikes that stuck out from them that scared her.
Then again, wasn't she different as well? She didn't know of anyone that had wings like her own though Dante did have the little wings on his head. Momma, Glamrock and Ezriel sure didn't, nor did the other unicorns that stayed close to their godmother.

What ? Scared? The voice mused within his head in a taunting manner- its tone dripping with a venom as it caused a shiver to run down his spine even though the small colt tried to supress it as best he could but it was futile. "he darkness is what you must embrace- it is within you. He lives within you.
The stark white colt closed his eyes tightly and shook his head, flaring his nostrils slightly as his front-right cloven hoof pawed within the ground below.
"I can't," he muttered low, gritting his teeth as he fought his inner demons and torment.
The voice chuckled with amusement and Ezriel imagined an audible click of a tongue within his mind. Silly boy- do you know nothing? Try as you might, you will never fall away from what you will become and what you are. It is in your blood. You will make the 'lessers' know of who you are.
Lessers? Know of him? No. He couldn't consider himself better than anyone else as he did not bear the wings of what some called 'the raven blessed' and seemed almost a reawakened and haunting image of his mutant father, a stallion who many feared and spoke rumors of- rumors which were bitter and foul rather than holding any ounce of good expressed in a spoke word that dared to flee from ones maw. A part of him knew that he was different along with his siblings yet he couldn't see himself better than them.
Yet the inner confliction within the colt resented such thoughts and sought to fight back.
The blood that ran though him was of his fathers, his appearance strikingly like his father (although with a few missing attributes) and it seemed as if the darkness within attempted to vanquish what light and sense of kidness and mercy from his mother abided within him. His eyes were like voids of nothingness and his appearance could be considered frightening or intimidating. He would make them remember him and fear him. Ezriel wanted to fight for his name, for his family and prove those who spoke ill of him wrong yet he was so young it seemed that he only found himself confused and tied between the two paths that beackoned him to join.
Yet the progression to such a fate would take time.
That was if a certain someone wouldn't find him before that time would come.
Shaking his head as his brothers voice broke through his thoughts, Ezriel snapped his head upwards and glanced around as he trailed around in a small circle.
"Dante?" His ears flicked back as he narrowed his desolate orbs to where he could see the silver colt within the darkness. Just as his brother spotted him, Ezriel nodded his head and trotted towards him. "I see you too! But...somethings not right." The colt bit down on his lower lip as he flicked his spiked tail about and glanced around. There was suppose to be three of them.
Let's see.
Dante, Ezriel and-
"Meera! Where's Meera, Dante?"

Dante was happy to see that his brother had found him, but as the white figure drew closer, Dante noticed how frazzled his expression was. He could tell that something was bothering him, and before he could ask what was wrong, he realized another conflict that had suddenly appeared.
"Meera..?!"
It was going to be hard to find the gal, since she was as black as the night. Dante stood close to his brother, for fear of losing him in the darkness again. It would be unwise if that were to happen, so he needed to take the obstacles as step by step, rather then rushing into any stupid decisions. His instinct wanted to run and just find Meera, but that clearly would have been dumb.
He could always shout, but wouldn't that draw attention to the three of them, who were alone, and worthless compared to the night?
"MEEERA?!" There, one loud shout. That way, if anyone had heard it, they might have ignored it, since he didn't focus on repeating himself. Meera knew Dante's voice, so he was sure that she could somehow shout back if she was close. He waited quietly, only to hear the crickets chirp in the background, and the silence regained itself once again.
"I don't want her wandering alone.. this is just too scary for her." It was an obligation of his to watch his sister especially, since Ezriel seemed just fine on his own. "I guess.. we should just wait to see if she responds?"
They were left with very few options, so Dante decided to remain patient, even though that was the last thing on his mind. The crickets were distracting him, and he wished that they would just shut up!

Her reply never came. Her mouth opened to respond and her body tensed as she tried to make her voice come out. Nothing came but silence. At least she had an idea of where they were and quietly walked in the direction that Dante's voice had come from.
Though she tried to be quiet, she was quite clumsy. It seemed her hooves found every crisp leaf and stick that the ground had to offer her. Craaaaaaaaaaaack. The harder she tried to avoid the objects, the more she seemed to step upon them.
Her brothers were easy enough to spot, especially Ezriel. He was so bright, afterall. He scared her the most as well. His eyes were as black as night and he had spikes on his tail and face. He looked so dangerous. Dante had spikes too but they were along his back, not in a spot that he could really hurt others with. She was sure in time it would be easy to get over them but with Ezriel, it would be harder. He was so.. scary. Even looking at him brought chills to her spine and she had to gulp before taking another step.
Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! The sound was enough to break her out of her train of thoughts. She stepped into what light the moon offered that night, hoping that her brothers could see her well enough to not attack. She stomped at the ground with one of her front hooves to help her appearance be known.

His ears flicked forward as Dante sounded the call for their sister, Meera, hoping that they would be able to find her and for the three of them to group together and to escape the thick darkness which night had brought and return back to their mother and the others who watched over them. But yet again something stirred within him- that fear that seemed to pierce his heart fell numb and a strange sensation seemed to wash over him momentarily as he narrowed his eyes and looked up towards the moon.
How he cursed himself for looking so differnt! Again, there was no ounce of resemblance to his mother as his stark white coat, desolate black eyes like that of a moonless night, cloven hooves and a tail that was like that of a demon adorned with spikes that also came forth from the top of his head were not- well, very normal. But neither were wings coming from out of ones head yet somehow Ezriel was set apart from his siblings.
The young colt didn't need others to tell him, to whisper and mock him on deaf ears- he had heard most of them, which would never cease sadly, and knew without a shadow of a doubt that there was something eerie about him.
Yet he simply wanted to be normal.
You will never be normal- you are not normal. You are your fathers son, the voice whispered within the back of his mind with a venomous, sweet and calming tone.
Take revenge and let it consume you. Let it feed your hunger, satisfy you. Come now, Ezriel- don't hold back.
"No!" The colt silently rebuked within his thoughts as he stamped his foot forcefully upon the ground.
Amused, the voice chuckled.
You cannot win. You will never win. It will consume you in time- you will see, they will see.
The snap of twigs and decaying leaves brought him back to reality as he watched Mera slowly approach them yet a frown seemed to slightly curl upon his lip. He wasn't a bad colt- but she had always seemed so shy and timid of him! Ezriel would never fathome to hurt one of his own, to attack his own flesh and blood as that was brutish and something only a fiend would devise. How he could prove it seemed a bit hopeless since most judged the individual upon their appearance rather than their personality.
Sighing softly as his sister stomped on the ground as a sign that she was here, the strikingly white colt gave a smile as best he could and took one small step forward.
"Hey Meera," he softly called out as kindly as he could although a mix of emotions seemed to cause him to take a step back and knit his brows slightly only hoping that she wouldn't be too scared of him. Ezriel could only plead that this would be a temporary phase. Looking towards Dante, he sighed again.
"So," he flicked his ears slightly and swayed his tail carefully behind him, "where to?"

Dante felt himself breathe again, and he rushed up to Meera and made sure she was alright. She didn't look injured or upset, so that was good. "We were worried sick Meera, JEEZ." He always took a harsh tone with her, but there was still something comforting in the voice that he used. "But anyways, now we are all together." Meera was being as silent as usual, and Dante decided not to dwell on that habbit of hers.
Dante then turned to Ezriel, who seemed to have asked an impossible question. Where the heck could they go, especially when they had no idea where they were? Dante didn't mind being the leader for his brother and sister, but he was a bit confused in what the smartest option was.
"I guess we should at least start moving, and hopefully a better landscape will appear? I am guessing we are hidden under trees, so that is making everything darker."
It was the only observation he could make, and he sniffed the air in hopes of scenting ANYTHING besides the grass and trees around them. If they could get somewhere where the moon could be in full view, maybe it would become brighter from the stars and the sky.
The colt was frustrated, and he wished that he could know everything all the time. He was pretending to be confident at the moment, but in his mind he was frazzled and nervous as to where they were wandering.

Meera blushed slightly at the concern Dante had showed. She felt rather ashamed of being so timid towards them. She was thankful that her dark coat hid her embarrassment. She took a few steps forward, preferring to stay in between her two brothers. Though this made her nervous, she knew that they were better equipped to protect her if the need arose and she was rather scared. She always felt like there were eyes watching her at night. Eyes she could feel but never see. She wanted her momma.
A part of her wondered if she could try to fly above and spot their momma or godmother. She had never flown before really and in the dark of night wouldn't be the safest place for a first attempt. No, she would stick to her brothers. At least then she wouldn't be alone and perhaps their momma would find them. She was probably out looking for them now.
She lowered her wings to fall against her body. She tried to pretend it was momma and her godmother comforting her, much like it felt when they were sleeping beside her. She wanted to feel safe again. She watched her brothers, wondering what they would do. Though she was scared, she was growing more tired by the moment and really hoped they'd be home soon.

Knowing that Meera wouldn't exactly respond didn't bother him yet his ears flicked back slightly as he looked around. If something wanted to try and make a row with them, Ezriel wouldn't hesistate to slash at them with his well equipped tail or ram into them with his head if it called for such actions but in all honesty he much rather for he and his siblings to be left alone.
As a cool breeze weaved through his crimson mane and his empty eyes of nothingness glanced about, Ezriel flared his nostrils slightly and pawed at the ground with his front-right cloven hoof.
"Its better than standing around here all night," he commented with a nod of his head as he lifted his upwards and tried to better understand where exactly they were. Yet the heavily wafting scents of trees, grass and vegetation seemed to block any outside traces of scents which could only mean the only option they had was to wander around and try to find their way out before something or someone found their way to them. Taking a few steps forward, the brilliantly white colt looked ahead.
Can you feel it? That need, that desire to become strong and be respected? Crave it, want it.
Ezriel supressed a shiver and shook his head, not paying attention to the voice.
"Lets get out of here."
He wandered a bit up ahead as his eyes narrowed before him and continued to glance about. Wherever he was, he didn't like the looks of it one bit. The sooner they could get out and find their mom and godmother it would be alot better.
Ezriel didn't like feeling of being on edge yet he couldn't help but feel something within him stir- and slowly it was growing.

As the three of them huddled together, Dante continued to keep a watchful eye on the nothingness around them. It was starting to seem hopeless, and as the minutes passed, the colt became weary, and his mind was racing with thoughts about being lost and alone.
But then.. a different scent hit the air, and it was strangely familiar. The colt darted ahead to see what was in front of him, but then stopped himself instantly. Apparently they were at a stream, but why would that make sense? A stream that held scents of their mother and Glamrock?
A thought drifted into his head, and he turned back to look at his siblings. "We were at this stream, not long ago! Doesn't that mean its close to home?"
That was a good sign, wasn't it? "I think this is good you guys." Dante was lucky that he stopped himself so quickly, for if he didn't, he would have gone crashing into the water. "We were here the other day, swimming in this stream.." Now, how had they gone home then? That was the most frustrating thought! If Dante was going to grow into a respectable and strong stallion, he needed to become more keen with his surroundings.
Either way, he shook his head and waited for his brother and sister to catch up, and wondered what ideas they could have.

Meera relaxed when Dante recognized the stream. It was harder for her because everything looked so different at night but after a few moments, she was able to see rock shapes and patterns coming out of the water that she remembered seeing before. It was the stream! She looked back and forth between her brothers wondering what would happen next.
A rustling came out of the bushes on the other side of the stream and a large shape came out of it. There was no sound at first, just the shadowy figure seeming to stare across at the foals. The silence broke almost as soon as it began and the creature jumped and yelled "Bless my soul! They are here, Korrine, they are alive!" If the foals had been close, they would have seen tears streaming from their godmother's eyes.
Korrine feel her her knees in silent thanks. Her babies were okay. She had been so scared that he had found them. Scared that she'd never see them again. It took her awhile to compose herself but once she had she ran past Glamrock and dived into the stream, ignoring the cold water as she waded across. "Meera? Dante? Ezriel?," she whispered. She lowered her head and nuzzled each one individually, ignoring the fact that she was soaking wet. "I was so scared. I thought.. something might have happened to you. Are you all right? Are any of you hurt?" It was hard for her to see but she tried to inspect their bodies as best she could.

Even within the thickest, deepest darkness, hope seemed to abide as a vaugely familiar scent wafted within the air and seemed to be caught first by his brothers attention while Ezriel yeilded slowly and glanced around. His ears perked upwards as the stream bubbled and babbled its own soft song in ode to the night and that scent- that all too familiar scent seemed to take hold of his own nostrils and strike deep with assurance and no doubt whatsoever.
"Yeah, the same place as yesterday," Ezriel replied with a nod of his head as his spiked tail swayed behind him with a solemn motion. "At least we're out of the forest."
Taking a few steps forward as the stream coursed before his path, Ezriel lowered his head towards the water and took a small drink.
To feel the cool waters quench his thirst within his maw made him feel rejuvinated and more awake. Knowing that they were still all together and not hurt only made the night more sweet although a small insecurity tucked within him still seemed to bubble up from his inner thoughts yet he pushed it away. Shaking his head, the young colt couldn't help but stare into his reflection and give a small frown.
Why couldn't he have looked more like his mother?
But his appearance was something that would never change nor could be changed- Ezriel may look like the same father whose heart was malicious, cold and savage but that didn't mean that he was destined to fall within the same path which his father had chosen. Yet there was a part of him entwined with the voice that begged to differ.
You are your fathers son.
His nostrils flared as he thrusted his front-right hoof into the water and shattered the reflection and cause wakes of ripples and disturbance to erupt.
But before the brilliantly white colt could speak, the bushes rustled as a large figure stepped out as it stared at them, watched them. For a moment he could feel his muscles grow tense, ridged and taunt but as the figure made itself known and its voice rang out, Ezriel released a pent up sigh.
It was their godmother, Glamrock.
His ears perked forward as a small, broad smile curled upon his maw as yet another figure made their appearance known along with her sweet, whispered voice speaking softly to them.
Their mother, Korrine.
"I'm okay," Ezriel spoke up as he kept his voice low, nuzzling against her carefully with the side of his head as the top was a bit dangerous with adorning horns. "I just don't like it when its dark," he admitted, pinning his ears back and biting his lower lip.

Was it true? Were Dante's eyes really showing the two figures that he wanted to see most?! Once the voices were heard in his ears, he knew that his mother and godmother had finally appeared to save them. So Dante had done something correct then, by leading his siblings to the stream? He felt a boost of confidence overcome in him when he realized the smart decision he had made.
He ran up to the both of them, and snuggled against his mothers warm feel. "You two came for us!! I was so worried, we were lost, and we couldn't find each other at first.." Dante realized that he was ranting on, and sounded horribly weak. But, from the two mare's reactions, he could guess that if anything, they only cared that they were alright.
Dante then looked at his brother, who still seemed overtaken about something. It was hard to understand what was going on in all of their heads, and Dante found it all complicating to even think about! Either way, the foal was overjoyed that they were actually going to be ok.
"Were you two looking for us?"

"Yes," Korrine paused briefly to nuzzle them each one more time before continuing, "Once it became dark and you had not returned, we began searching for you. Glamrock assured me that you three would be all right as long as you had each other to look out for, but I have to admit, I was afraid. I don't know what I would do if I lost you all too." Sadness crept over her eyes. She had lost a foal once, from a life she had tried to forget and while these three did not come under the best of circumstances, she loved them dearly. The were the reason she was as strong as she was even though they were too young to understand it.
"Pish Posh," Glamrock scolded, "Of course we were looking for you." She gave the foals a good strong nuzzle as well once it seemed Korrine had relaxed more. "We'd search until we became so old our teeth fell out if we had to," she teased.
Meera squinted her eyes together and smiled broadly. She always liked being around momma and Glamrock. They always made her feel good, despite being so different. She nuzzled Dante and Ezriel, though the latter was still awkward for her, before yawning broadly in an attempt to announce she was ready for bed. Sometimes it was really hard not being able to speak.
