American and Japanese super heroes have two very different styles. I'm a huge fan of both. It's a special treat when the two styles combine. I'm talking about American super heroes in Japan. Sure, they've got translated copies of our comics. Sometimes though, Japanese companies create their own products based on American super heroes. Below are a few Japanese takes on American super heroes that I know of.

Spider-Man

There's a Japanese Spider-Man movie in which Spider-Man is not Peter Parker, but someone else. I think he has the ability to become giant.

There is also a Spider-Man manga, possibly a comic translation of the aformentioned movie.

One Japanese Batman product is Kia Asamiya's Batman: Child of Dreams. I have the hardback edition of this book, and I can tell you it's great. Asamiya works on American characters often. I have his entire Uncany X-Men run, and I've seen a Hellboy: Wierd Tales story done by him. It actually had Hellboy fighting giant animated toys such as a Transformer and a Sailor Moon doll among others.

Another great Japanese Batman product is their action figure lines.

There are many more Japanese products based on American super heroes, although I can't think of them all right now. Does anyone else know of any?

I remember Ramses telling me of an anime based on America's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Once read somewhere that Marvel had something to do with Battle Fever J....Oh & of course several western pro wrestlers had characters based on them in the first Kinnikunman(better known in the west as M.U.S.C.L.E. Men).

I must go and find it!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, out of curiosity, is it relatively easy to find that book and the Uncanny X-Men books you mentioned?

Battle Fever J was Toei's second co-production with Marvel:

Yes, Batman: Child of Dreams is very easy to find at most bookstores and comic shops. There's also a chinese Batman book, called Batman: Hong Kong.

Kia Asamiya's Uncanny X-Men run is also fairly easy to obtain. He penciled issues 416-420, and some of his costume designs are still being used.

The creator of Yu-gi-oh! is a huge Hellboy fan. He drew a picture of Hellboy once and sent it to Mike Mignola, who in return sent Kazuki Takahashi a drawing. I think it'd be great to see a Hellboy story drawn by Takahashi, or a Yu-gi-oh! story done by Mignola.

Yeah, it's way too funny. They should have dubbed it and played it in America as part of the original cartoon.
