Degas stood in the center of town watching the sky. It was hard to believe that the world could come to a slow. The sky glimmered with stars and beauty that it seemed a shame for him to feel so poorly or for anyone to be asleep. However as he thought on the issue he knew that all things eventually needed rest. The scent plunked himself down on the ground in the center of the Cyrus Plaza and pulled his backpack off. He hugged it tightly while staring up at the sky.

"When the goddess Nyx covers us with her blanket of darkness
Will God of Dream come to take reign over our minds
Or will we knock the crown from his hands and demand it back
While we watch this world with eyes believed to be young and sightless
Yet even the newly born in this world cry for reasons yet not known
But if in that first moment of sadness there is happiness brought shortly after
It is an eternal balance that tosses us from one side to the next
Rocking us like children or crashing us against the rocks like waves."

He sighed and picked himself up more melancholy than before from the flood of words that left his lips. Degas slipped on his pack and walked westward towards the smell of food.

It was one of the few nights that Anima had left the company of her brother. And she was happy she had. The world at night was a wonderful change from the bright world of day she was so used to...The albino smiled dreamily and walked toward the smell of food, humming as she went. It was an old song, a lullaby her mother had sung to her when she was very young. The girl stopped as she found herself next to a boy with green hair. He had a slight scent emanating from him...one that was earthy, yet pleasant in her mind. She chose to speak up, her voice quiet but strong.
"Hello."

Degas blinked owlishly at the girl curious as to how he could have missed her. She was absolutely stunning for the attention starved scent. Of all the people to have run into...I find a mini goddess... he thought to himself trying not to look stare at her like like a dog does it's dinner. She spoke to him and the young scent blinked not able to shake his vision of her.

"Oh! Um...ahh...Ah!! My name? Oh My name is um...." He laughed tugging lightly at the curls in his hair. "Um. I seem to have forgotten my name but I believed it started with a D...Dega..Degas. Ah yes that's it. Um yeah I'm fairly surely that's it. My name is Degas L'Artistnale." He bowed very deeply to girl causing his backpack to slide off and hit the ground with a thud. Degas blushed and covered his face feeling like a moron. "It is....very nice to meet you."

Anima giggled and curtsied, then picked his backpack up for him. "Same to you, Degas." She held it out to him, kneeling down a bit so she was on the same level as him. She was obviously oblivious to the poor boy's train of thought. The way she held herself, and the look she gave him seemed to ask why he was out at such an hour.

Degas accepted his backpack up and held it close. "What's your name by the way? MayIhavethehonor?" His voice squeaked at the end from the excitement in his tone. When she looked upon him, the scent began nervously bitting at his nails. "I know what you're thinking and I know why. It's because I shouldn't be out at such an improper hour." He smirked a bit "You see I was hungry and and well my parents aren't the type to care so I wandered away from them to look for my own."...He Looked at her again then glanced at his shoes blushing. "Tell me would you like to join me for a meal?"

The girl smiled and nodded, patting him on the head like her brother did sometimes, but much gentler. "I'm Anima Cross." She stood up, and extended her hand to Degas, a bright smile on her face that said 'I would love to join you.' "I know...what it's like...My brother doesn't like me out at night..."

The scent would have had a rain cloud above his head if it were possible. 'She thinks of me as child' he thought trying not to spiral into a depressive state for too long. "Very nice to meet you Anima." Degas murmured politely kissing her hand. "Well, I can't blame him. It's hard not to protective of the beautiful people in your life."

Anima blinked and pointed at herself with her other hand, the obvious question being 'Me? Beautiful?' She would have to bug Animus about that later.

Degas nodded "Of course you! Who else would I be speaking of, when I am speaking to you!"

The albino smiled brightly and hugged the scent as an enthusiastic 'Thank you.' She let go of him and stood up again, and started towards the food again, turning back to Degas and walking backwards for a bit. "Come on! My treat!" Maybe sneaking away from her brother had been a good idea after all!

Blushing madly Degas opened the door for her politely. He reached into his pocket then suddenly realized that he hadn't brought any money for food! The scent smiled a little. "Um, I think I'll take you up on that offer...So what is your family like? Have you been here all your life?" He asked trying to avoid the humilating topic of money.

Anima walked in, sending an appreciative look to Degas. She kept herself from giggling at the awkward scent, then walked to an empty table. "I don't mind." Before she could sit down, he brought up the topic of living. Her sweet smile went a bit dark and forced. "My brother...he's very nice if you know him well...and Nyoko is like my big sister..." Bad memories tried pushing their way into her mind, before she shoved them down and away. "I...I haven't lived here all my life...My brother and I came here when we were younger..."

Having unexpectedly soured the moment for his dinner company, Degas frowned a little. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to dredge up unpleasant thoughts when we were having such a good time only moments ago. Please forgive me." He flopped down into his seat feeling annoyed with himself for hurting such fine young lady. "I emerged here and would say that this city is my birthplace more than anywhere else. But like most people who are young I split on both leaving and staying. Coming and going.Often I find myself sitting on the cusps of where the world meets this place in hopes of being part of something bigger."....Degas blinked a little surprised he had spoken so much about things he wasn't sure that he felt until now. "I'm sorry I tend to rammble."

Anima's smile lightened again. "Don't worry...You didn't know." She listened to Degas contently as she sat. It wasn't often she got to hear someone who was...so poetic. That was the only way she could think of it. She blinked when he stopped, shaking her head. "I don't mind. I like listening."

Degas blushed at the compliment from the young lady brushing a hand through his unruly hair. "Still it's not quite proper for a man to talk more than a lady." The scent put his elbows on the table and propped his hands under his chin with a smile. "So what do you like about art Anima?"
