Jocelyn Alaw
You look a bit lost, my friend. Come have a seat and catch your thoughts a moment. 'Tis a busy place, the Jungle, and getting turned around is very likely for a newcomer. You are new...aren't you? Ah, thought so!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jocelyn Alaw, and I am a travelling troubador. What is a troubador, you ask? Why, surely you have heard of them! I do singing, acting, storytelling, and a bit of light information dealing on the side.
So, would you like me to tell you about Rinon and Lucion? It is truly a good tale. I suppose since you're new, I could do you a favor, and not charge anything for the information.
You're welcome.
The City of Rinon is named after a man named Rinon Hiera. He was the owner of the Ace of Spades, and a great warrior. When a small town was threatened by invaders from the warring Sun Empire, Rinon rowed out into the water and wielded the Ace to stop the Sun Empire from invading. Their sneak attack was thwarted, half the fleet destroyed, and a brutal five day battle ensued the next morning. Rinon was killed on the second day, but the threat of his presence stopped any further invasions from the Empire, and the battle was won. Monuments have been erected in Rinon's honor, and many books have been published on his life's history, including one written by yours truly. But that is another story...
Anyway, the town was named after this fallen hero and within a few months had grown to twice its size and continued to grow into the city you see before you. The city is a well-known tradecenter and a not-so-well-known headquarters for numerous guilds of a...shall we say slightly illegal nature. So if you take walks at night keep an eye out.
Lucion is a lot smaller and generally much more friendly. It is on the edges of the map, caught between the ocean and the jungle. It is near what used to be a very important mine. The mine sales have dropped in recent months, however. Some wonder whether there is foul play afoot or if the mine is starting to dry up. Either way, things are promising to get a little rougher in that part of the country by next year.
The folk there are known for being particularly hospitible, and weapons aren't allowed within the city. Being polite is expected of everyone, so keep that in mind when dealing with the people. Oh and another thing--everyone is related to everyone in a town that small, so walk carefully if you decide to investigate or instigate something.
Hm, well I suppose that should do you for a spell, and I've got to get going. I've got a gig at the Red Goblet in Rinon in a little while. Look me up if you need any more help, I'll be around!!
