Kuasta's coast is a stretch of land that is quite isolated from the rest of Farthen-Dur. It is surronded by the ocean, the Spire Mountains, and a large stretch of land with no villages for miles, which is why Kuasta is difficult to reach. The climate is warm and the fishing is prosperous, making Kuasta an ideal place to live, except for the pirate attacks.

Aranel wiped the sweat from her forehead as she pulled weeds in the garden that kept her fed. She finished watering the row of potatoes and was done with the garden for the morning. "It is too hot out today," she thought fanning herelf with her hand. "I guess Ill look for clams then." Aranel grabbed a basket from her home and set out for the coast. The smell of salt was in the air, and thought it was hot, it was a relativly nice day.

Aranel reached the beach and began to look for the small holes in the sand that marked where clams were. she found one near a clump of leafy bushed and began to dig. She put the results of her efforts in to the woven basket and contined to search in that particular area. Aranel found a large group of the shellfish and once again, began to dig down, shoveling the sand away with her hands.

Aranel began to widen the hole, pleased with what a large group of clams and oysters she had found. "I'll eat well tonight." she thought. Suddenly as she dug, her finger jammed against something hard. Aranel withdrew it from the hole, surprised. Then she began to move dirt away from the area where the hard object was. "If im lucky, maybe it will be a giant clam."

As she dug, Aranel soon realized it was no clam she was digging out. She figured it was just some rock, but the unique smoothness of it made her curious. Though she was focused on the odd rock, she still put the shellfish she found in her basket. Food was first. Soon, the rock loosened from the dirt and Aranel was able to pull it out. It was muddy, but also a perfect oval shape. She walked to the surf and washed it off, revealing the glimmering green color underneath.

Aranel brought the strange stone she had found back to her hole by the bush. She gave it a few taps and listened to the pure ringing sound that emmitted from the green rock. Then she looked down in the hole wondering how it had gotten buried way down there. Then she realized that at one time it probably hadnt been buried. The tide would have come over it, bringing up sand and over time, concealing it from the world.

"Its pretty, but i dont have a use for it." Aranel thought. "I could trade it with the ships that come around... no... to many of those have been dissappearing. I need something safer." Aranel moved herself and the stone under the bush and out of the boiling hot sun. "I havent had any patients lately... it would be alright if i left for a bit..." Feeling hungry and tired from todays work, Aranel took out her lunch and began to eat. "It will be a long time before the traders come, if they do. But they are almost to Carvahal... yes, that is what ill do."

Aranel reached her home and shut the door behind her. She walked out into the garden, checking to see how her crops were. Then she continued on and piled wood for a fire. After she had one blazing, she set a pot over it to boil some water for salt and the clams. After she made sure all her chores were done, she would prepare to leave for carvahal to trade the stone for medical supplies that she was running low on.

The water started to bubble and Aranel put the clams in and set the lid on top. "I'll be gone for a week or more... i need someone to take care of my garden." She let the fire die down a bit and then left, heading towards town. An ocean breeze had come and cooled down the land and the smell of fish was in the air. Before she knew it, Aranel arrived at a friends house and rapped on the door.

As Aranel walked back home, she had a grin on her face. Her friend Tani was always happy to water her garden. She slung up her pack and began her journey to Carvahall to trade the Stone she had found.

((On to Carvahall!...))
