Sirach 2:1-6
"My son, when you come to serve the LORD, prepare yourself for trials.
Be sincere of heart and steadfast, undisturbed in time of adversity.
Cling to him, forsake him not; thus will your future be great.
Accept whatever befalls you, in crushing misfortune be patient;

What version is that from? I can't find Sirach anywhere in my Bible.

Sirach is apocryphal. Since I was raised Catholic, it happens to be in my bible.

This was one of the theme verses for our Junior ministry worship this year ^^
Jeremiah 29:11

Ezekiel 3:16-21

But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you will have saved your life. Again, if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. Hm, I really like Romans 8:38-39: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

My favorite verse is:
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." (Romans 8:1-14 AV)
Words cannot describe how true that quote is. One of the major problems in today's society is carnal/bodily appearance, rather it be racism, sexism, child molesters, etc.
Focusing on the fruits of the spirit (mentioned in Galatians 5:16-18 ), and the spiritual/non-physical things of people (if you have indeed had experience with these things) would make you spiritually minded.
Unfortunately, the flesh dominates most people. The mind comes under control of the flesh and all thoughts turn to satisfaction of those instincts.
