Gibson and Epiphone make, basically, the same body style of guitar. but which do you think has a better sound? Personally, I couldn't say, as I only have a Peavy. (oh, and sorry if this has been asked before. sorta newer to the guild)

its all about the money, and preferance. if you want quality and a guitar that will retain value go with the gibson, but the price is always an isue. if you want a good guitar, or want a guitar that you can after market then i the better would be an epiphone.

Well, Epiphone is asically just a cheaper version of a Gibson.
If I were going to get a new guitar and had a choice between the two, I would just save up and get a gibson.

Since Epiphones are made by Gibson, they are kinda the same but epiphones are great for people who want a kickass guitar but are cheap but a Gibson is awesome, and if you can get it, get one
and BTW, when you say an epiphone and a gibson are the same design, say epiphone/gibson Les Paul when you say gibson, you could mean les paul flying v explorer melody maker and so on

While on the subject of independence and ownership, for anybody who didn't know, Jackson is owned by Fender.

okay, well its obvious. epiphone is old gibson. epiphone is the cheaper, low grade version on gibson. if the guitar sais gibson, its a les paul or a gs, but if its an epiphone, its an almost there.
