In 1950 rain started falling all over the world. No one knew why, it was a cloudless rain. This rain though, continued over years, flooding everywhere in site. But this rain, wasn't all water, there was a chemical in it that was toxic to aquatic animals only. While the earth was flooding with this "water", the aquatic animals, started dying off. People started worrying because fish were the only things they could find to eat anymore. Now they were on a diet of birds and underwater plants.

Luckily, a device know as the "gil" was thought up. It was a simple, whistle shape, but it allowed humans to breathe underwater by putting it in their mouths. Unfortunatly, the aquatic animals, started changing also. They grew, bigger, with more rage than ever. Most of the population, died before they decided to stay on dry land. The only humans that were left, were in Chicago.

To survive, these people had to live in the tops of the old buildings. Everyone risked the collaspe of their building, to the depths below, where vicious animals preyed. There was no hope now, not a single chance, they thought, of survival. But, a scientist, one day, took a simple tarp and started working non stop. He sewed it into what looked like a dephlated raft. Then he blew it up and threw it into the water and watched as it float. To everyones shock, he then jumped onto the raft and it stayed afloat and steady. "My good people," he said, "what it we could make a raft, 50 times this size, hundreds of them, it would be like life before, almost."
