With a slow and peaceful sigh, Setsumi inhaled the deep scents of the jungle. It was nice to be home, even if it had grown so much in her absence. Her green eyes tiredly glanced across the canopy full of vibrant leaves and brilliant flowers. The occasional bird would cross her sight, feathers as bright as her own dancing between leaves and vines. How relaxing.
Tail ends curled, before falling over the bend of the branch she was resting on. Her body held close to the wood so as not to tilt and fall right off the high branch. From a distance, she could easily be mistaken for a batch of wild flowers. The female sighed once more, this time with a slight impatience. She felt bad to have kicked Ronan away, all because of a 'seasonal' issue. And despite what anyone may think, she and the colorful kitsu were nothing more than friends. Setsumi perked her ears as she hoped to hear anything nearby of interest. As beautiful as the jungle was, she was shocked to find it empty.

Something more than a bird suddenly flew overhead with a blazing speed. Paws also pushing off branches on occasion to give him more boost as he soared through the canopy. However, had it not been for his keen hawk-like eyesight, he wouldn't have noticed the colorful female below him.
He stopped, talon-like claws gripping the wood of a hapless tree branch as he peered down upon Setsumi. He recognized her.. they had met before. A brow lifted... what was she doing here? A large fish was held in his maw, for that was what Darkfeather was an expert at catching. Within a couple downward leaps from branch to branch, the crested male was soon standing not far above her, red eyes looking at Setsumi stoicly. Since his mouth was full of fish, he didn't say anything.. although one would have to wonder if he would have anyway.

Eyes blinked, thinking she had blacked out for a second. A dark blur had crossed her vision, but so fast that she was stunted. A shadow? Raising her head, Setsumi viewed around her perch warrily. The smell of fish soon helped her find the hidden kitsu above.
A moment passed, before recognition darted in her features, maw lifting in a soft chuckle. "Do my eyes decieve me? My, it's a Darkfeather roaming the jungle tops." She wondered how long he had been in this terrain. Maybe he was simply passing through? And where on earth did he find fish? His stoic glare was merely met with a faint grin. "Passing through, Darkfeather?"

All rainforests and jungles had a source of water, and Darkfeather had caught his fish in a river not too far away. The fish was draped over his branch so that his mouth could be free, and brows were lifted. "You might say that" he replied, his tails swaying freely from his perch. A ruffle of his wings given as they folded neatly upon his back.
"Am I to assume you are as well?" There were few kitsu he deemed worthy of exchanging words with, and thus he talked seldom.. but it seemed that Setsumi had somehow fallen in his good graces for whatever reason or another.

"Oh?" She lifted herself into a stable sitting posture, tails working as balancing wieghts. As much as she enjoyed heights, it was a good drop below with only a narrow branch under her. Her attention was somewhat distracted as she was peering down. A ruby flower, just visible behind some foliage. A delightful smirk appeared, and she turned back to face the winged kitsu.
"Just on some vacation time myself." His reserved nature was acknowledged, and she kept things to the point so as not to cause irritation. An ear flickered curiously. "But what brings you way out here, if I may ask? I was told recently that not many kitsus dwell here."

He didn't see her smirk... nor the flower that she caught sight of, although Darkfeather briefly wondered what is was she was looking at. No matter.
"Hm..." he grunted lightly as she told him she was pretty much vacationing. "You must like solitude." He had also noticed that there were not very many inhabitants of the kitsu kind in this area. However, when she asked, he didn't seem to care. "I like to travel" was his simple answer. He had never been seen around the mountain or the realm HQs very much for that very reason.

Her face was unreadable for a moment, as she chose on a decent answer. "On occasion, I suppose." The most solitude she had was herself and Ronan, traveling days on end. Then her lifestyle changed, bringing in alot of new faces of both family and friends. She couldn't quite determine which was more comforting.
"So it seems." She had only ever seen the other maybe once in so much time. "Traveling alone, however, is another story." But, if the other was only going to speak in such short phrases, she might as well travel some as well. Standing carefully, Setsumi crouched close to the base of the branch, making her way down to another branch.

Well... how rude. Darkfeather watched as Setsumi made her way lower in the three. "Is my presence really that revolting?" he asked in a somewhat cynical tone. The crested male seeming offended at her sudden departure. Here he takes the time to actually speak to someone and he gets the cold shoulder.
A sideglance was given at the fish beside him before he incospicuously nudged it with his paw. The fish sliding off the branch and quickly plummeting towards the ground. Oops. e_e How clumsy of him.

Her careful climb down was halted as she tilted her neck to look at Darkfeather. "Revolting? Hardly." Attention went back to the branch below her and her efforts to leap towards it. She could almost sense his bruised pride, and had to shake the smile off her maw. "You had sad you were just passing by. I simply assumed you'd continue your solitary path." She normally wouldn't mind or nit-pick about other's behavior. But she wasn't going to sit idle either, with awkward tension and her own random mood flares.
A slop sound, before something cold landed on her head, slipping off to fall limply on the ground. A tempered glance was given to the kitsu, pondering if that was on purpose. "You couldn't pull off clumsy even if you wanted to." And she hopped down the tree, soon reaching the soft ground at it's base.

Darkfeather huffed at Setsumi's words. Well maybe he would continue on his way and not bother with her. The kitsu scowling a bit before realizing the fish had landed on Setsumi's head. That had been unexpected.
Be blinked owlishly down at her... deciding he should retrieve his fish and thus soaring downward to land beside it. A snort and another ruffle of feathers. "And I suppose I couldn't pull off decent conversation either?" he asked. "Or are you just that desperate to be alone?" His nose wringling slightly. If she wanted him to go away... he could take the hint... and it seemed to be going that direction. Thus he'd be happy to oblidge.

Though she had a head start, Darkfeather was down on the ground in an instant. Darned wings. She ignored the fish, assuming it was a territorial regain for the male. She wasn't hungry anyway. The purple kitsu backed up somewhat, overstepping a fallen and mossy log as she tilted her head to Darkfeather.
"You can try. As I recall, you only spoke a handful of words the last encounter." She said it without humor or disdain, merely a pointed fact. But his words gave her a surprise, and she was smacked out of her chatter. Ears came down to brush her shoulders. "I apologize, I'm not normally this moody." She took a deep breath to herself, the scents of the jungle more like a quenching water than air. "You can stay or go as you please."

Darkfeather snorted indignantly, an ear twitching at her apology. "If it truely bothered me, I would not still be here" he responded in a monotone sort of way. "I've dealt with more than my share of... bad moods."
He then pushed the fish towards her with a wordles invitation. He didn't know why he was being so nice... but perhaps seeing another kitsu with feathers was something he could relate to.. or maybe he liked her... or... who knows.

She blinked curiously, but then again, it did seem likely. Solitary moods are often known to become sour at times. Gaze turned down to glance at the shiny fish, surprised by the action. Though not hungry, it'd be best to take the offer. Otherwise it may be regarded as an insult. Grabbing it be the tail, she pulled it near her feet. "Thanks."
A silence seemed to take over, and she simply fell along with it. Nothing but calm leaves stirring and bird's chirping. She smirked as a neon blue frog hopped across the scene.

Darkfeather said nothing as she took the fish. If she didn't eat all of it, that was fine. He could easily finish it off.
Red eyes strayed towards the blue frog with disinterest, before looking back to Setsumi. "A vacation, hm? What could you possibly be vacationing from?" Does this mean he actually cared about what another kitsusagi was doing? e_e; Gasp. How... unusual! Although Darkfeather really wasn't that bad once you go to know him.

Claws picked lazily at the fish, descaling it some. Setsumi allowed some nibbles of the fresh aquatic meat. Her tails tapped against the tree trunk, debating his question. It was innocent enough. "In a nutshell, just had to get away from complications." She glanced down, surprised to see that only 1/3 the fish remained. Perhaps she was hungry afterall. "I suppose the solitary life has it's perks. No need to depend on others."
A customary grin was passed to the winged kitsu. "You must be on vacation all the time." It was a cross between a statement and a question. Either way, their was some hidden envy in the tone.
