well, since i have only about 10k due to the fact that i am going to college, i have decided to build one of the cheapest drift cars i can. Ive decided to go with the 93' nissan 240 sx, due to the fact that they have rear wheel drive, and i can find one under 2k. so thats all i got so far....any suggested engine mods and such? your suggestions are appreciated.

Reinforce the drivetrain, get a good suspension, rebuild the engine, and you just might have enough left for tires.
This sounds like a really impractical idea for you right now. Drifting eats tires and parts like no one's business. If you're trying to get into motorsports, why not try autocross?

I agree, but the tires don't need to be seriously good tires to drift.... my friends always pick up tires from junkyards for the rear, because it's going to be wasted within thirty minutes anyway. As for the parts... well, the expense from that'd probably kill you, but no pressure.

IMO, drifting isn't really worth it. to me, WRC or canyon runs are far more fun, or better yet even touge-style mountain runs will do more good than harm.
Either way, things you need to do is first take apart and rebuild the engine, as well as install a new LSD and suspension. My favorites are ZEAL or Cusco's Zero2R series. However since that probably isn't in your price range, some basic coilovers from JUN or even TEIN will be fine.
You may want to look into a new clutch and flywheel as well.
Think about what parts of the car you're going to butcher the most, and work on reinforcing those. that way, if during drifting you so happen to screw up one of your new upgrades, at least you have the stock spares to swap in so you can at least save yourself a tow truck call.

1. Get a cheap RWD car with a manual transmission 2. Strip it clean 3. Go to a drift event and try it out 4. Upgrade as necessary

Upgrade as necessary better get stiff springs. . .stock springs on most cars are spongy. when you get a RWD make sure it had a decent amount of power, or else going sideways is gonna be a tedious task, also have a sufficient amount of tires, I drifted b4, my first time was addicting. . .i went on till i almost got to my rims

I think he's gone from the board. All of you are giving him the same advice. Here's some different advice. Do it up like Keisuke Hatakeyama. His setup.
