((Alright, this really has nothing to do with the title, but we are on the beach. ^^ So...here goes lol!))
It was a lovely afternoon and it being summer still, Reno was having an urge to get out of the house. "Daddy, can we go to the Naosho beach today? Please...I really need some time in the sun!" EJ looked over at his boy as he was lying on his bed listening to music. "Well, of course we can! You know what, we do need to get out of the house. And what a better place to do it than go to the beach where you're naturally from!" EJ smiled as he sat up took the earphones out of his ears. EJ then told Reno to get ready to go. He then got himself ready and told Elena that he was off with Reno to the Naosho beach.
A few hours later, they had gone through the portal and finally arrived at the beach. Reno smelt the great sea air. It was so fresh and invigorating. EJ loved it too. It being summer, and the way EJ was dressed, he was fairly hot. But he was used to the intense heat in a matter of seconds. He had always worn the same clothing, so he never knew much else. The only thing was, when he wanted to go swimming, he'd just strip down to his underwear to go. No need for a bathing suit then. EJ looked around for something to eat, he saw an ice cream store up ahead and that was mostly it. But he felt that keeping Reno from sweets for now would be a good idea.
Reno then asked, "Oh daddy! I want to go swimming! See, I am wearing my bathing suit! Can I go?" EJ smiled and nodded and with that, Reno was off in a flash towards the water, splashing and splashing around. EJ just sat in the sand and had it run through his fingers. He just watched Reno swim the entire time. He made sure that he wouldn't go out to far and that he was always in eye range.

((Haha! Fun! ^_^))
Despite having been to the Seconds World a few times now, Serenity Aldrich Winters had always spent her time in the meadow. She loved spending time there, it was always so beautiful and there was always something to inspire her to paint. Today however, she was in an exploring mood. She could just imagine her family's shock if they might hear that - she was the LAST one in the family that would normally go exploring. Indeed, the brown-haired, green-eyed second was, beyond any shadow of doubt, the shyest person anyone in the entire family could think of.
But today, everyone had disappeared on her, and she wanted to prove to them that she was quite capable of doing something on her own for once. She had never gone anywhere alone before - save the time she had visited her mother's world, but that didn't count, it was completely accidental and she had come back as soon as she was able.
But here she was now, wandering, her painting supplies tucked securely under one arm. At least, she HAD been wandering. At the current moment, she was stopped. She had caught sight of the sea, and she was staring at the water, transfixed by its beauty. Sure, there were other Seconds there, playing in the water, but still ... the way the sun was shining down on it, reflecting off the waves, instilled in her a deep sense of peace. She was filled with a sudden longing to catch the sensation on canvas, but she wasn't in a good place to set up. Looking around, she spotted a nice clear area closer to the water, in the middle of the large area of sand.
She made her way over to it quickly, and, kneeling, set her things down. Once it was all spread out, she set up the easel her mother had bought for her and set her canvas on it, then looked at her tubes of paint and tried to decide which one to open first.

Reno was still splashing and swiftly swimming through the shallow waters. He jumped up and a wave came and he tumbled down on it. This was his first time at the beach, but he knew of it far to well. He had always wanted to experience it, and since his grandmother, Elena, had bought him a new swimming suit, he decided to try it on and try it out.
He couldn't believe the way it felt to have the wind in his hair and the sun shining down on him like this. It was truly magnificent. Someone caught his eye. His father was watching and he decided to go over to him. He smiled down at his father as he stood and EJ lay. "Daddy, wasn't I great! I think I'm going to run around on the sand a bit though. So you can take a nap if you want!" EJ smiled and noticed another Second and figured that is what Reno truly wanted to do. He wanted to talk to her. EJ smiled and replied, "Haha, of course. I will take a nap and you can run around. But! Be sure to wake me if you decide to go back into the water! Alright?" Reno gave his father the biggest grin that he could. He nodded and ran off. EJ on the other hand laid down on the ground and slowly fell asleep.
Reno ran around and kept his distance from this other Second. He hadn't ever had a friend other than a few pets that roamed the house and his guardians. So he wanted to try to make a new friend. One that was one of himself. He tried not to be noticed, but every so often he creep a few feet closer to this other Second You. He smiled as he watched her set up a little station to what he knew as painting. He was very curious and he just kept creeping closer and closer. Soon, he was right behind the new Second and he sat down behind her, but turned his back to her so it didn't look so suspicious. Every few minuets though, he had planned to look over his shoulder and watch what she was doing. He just played in the sand a bit looking over his shoulder at her and then to his father, then back at her again.

Serenity was far too engrossed with her painting to notice that she was, effectively, being stalked - not that she would have known what it was in the first place. She got herself comfortable on the sand, though, she noticed distastefully, it was making its way far too quickly into her clothes. Well, there was nothing she could do about it.
She picked up her brush and a tube of blue paint, then a tube of white, and squeezed a bit of both colors onto her smooth wooden palette. She picked up her brush and tapped the end of her nose with it thoughtfully, then touched it to her paints, mixing them to her desired hue, and started in on the canvas. She paused every few seconds only to glance up at the sparkling sea and make another mental note for a specific detail.
A few times she thought she heard something behind her, and she glanced over her shoulder once or twice to see. She was surprised to see that there was a boy sitting behind her ... but he didn't seem to be paying attention to her, instead he seemed to be looking in the opposite direction. She felt slightly uneasy, having someone so close to her, but he wasn't bothering her ...
She turned back to her painting, but she couldn't stop herself from constantly looking over her shoulder at him. Her green eyes were filled with curiosity, and finally she just stopped trying to paint altogether and just stared at the boy self-consciously.

Every so often Reno would look over his shoulder at her beautiful painting. He was captivated by its beauty. For what looked to be just a child, she was extraordinarily good at painting. Her mix of paints looked almost professional and the way she painted definitely was. Reno just smiled every time that she would put that paintbrush to the canvas. He noticed that she was looking over her shoulder at him a couple times. But every time he saw her turn her head, he would turn his. He began to blush just a bit before looking once more to see her staring straight at him. At that, he was a bit surprised. He jumped up and wiped his pants clean of the dirt. "Umm...hello. I'm Reno. I just saw you painting and I was really surprised. I love the way you paint. It's just great!" Reno felt that giving her a compliment would start things off a bit smoother than if he were to just run away. Trying to be friendly was always a plus. He just began to blush more and more. Suddenly he was pretty red in the face. But he kept standing there, his arms dangling down in front of him. He began to fiddle with his fingers, hoping that she wouldn't be to angry at him for stalking her in a sense.

Serenity's eyes grew wide when the boy spoke to her, first with surprise, then with fear. Her face flushed a deep shade of red, and she felt her throat constricting as it always did when a stranger spoke to her. She fumbled with her brush nervously, trying to clear her throat, and she accidentally dropped it to the sand. It rolled towards the boy - Reno, had he said his name was? - and the sand stuck to the wet paint.
Watching the brush roll away from her, Serenity's eyes grew even wider. She would have reached out to take it back to herself again, but it was going toward the boy ...
She wondered if she should say something to him. Probably - he was being so nice to her ... she watched him carefully for a few long moments, trying to gather up the courage to speak. But her voice wouldn't come. Every time she tried, her throat would constrict anew. Finally, she forced out a squeaky, "H-h-h-h-h-hi."
Her eyes flickered to her paintbrush where it rested, nearly touching the boy, but she made no move to pick it up.

Reno looked at her as she tried to get out the words. He tilted his head to the side and raised a brow. Once she said the word, he smiled and then bent down to get the brush. Sadly, it was full of sand and he picked it up and gave it back to her. "Oh, I'm sorry that I scared you. I didn't mean to make you drop your brush. I'll go rinse it in the water if you want. I truly am sorry though." he said trying to sound as sincere as he truly was.
He then held out his hand for the first time, wanting to shake hands with this girl. She seemed to be much taller than he. She was older anyway, he could tell that just by looking at her. He smiled and waited for the returned handshake. "Oh, once again, I'm Reno. Reno Peters." he said again just to make sure that she understood it.

Serenity blushed even deeper (though it hardly seemed possible) and swallowed the lump in her throat. Then she reached out and took the boy's hand in her own, giving it a slight shake.
"Serenity ... Aldrich Winters," she replied quietly, slowly at first, then blurting out her two family names almost as if they were one. Then she withdrew her hand and brushed her bangs out of her eyes. She nodded at the brush in Reno's hand. "Um ... you don't have to clean it," she murmured in a near-whisper, "if you don't want to ..."
She was curious about the boy, and she couldn't help but stare at him in a fixed manner. He was the first Second she had ever met that she wasn't related to, and despite her shyness she was surprised to realize ... she wanted to know more about him.
"But ... you can come with me, if you want to," she added, surprising herself. She blushed even deeper still.

Reno smiled when Serenity took his hand. He blushed a bit when she did, more so than before. And he couldn't help but notice her fixed stare. He scratched his nose a bit and looked around, then back at his father who seemed to be sleeping peacefully. "Umm...sure, I'll go with you. I think it'd be fun! Lets go clean that brush!" he said in a manner that seemed as if he were a superhero or some other kind of hero. Then he skipped a few steps, turned around and said, "Well, come on, the ocean water will clean the brush." he added, with that, a smile. He then skipped a few more steps and then just ran the rest of the way, laughing and giggling until he got to the water. He made a few splashes and waited for the girl to come over and join him by the water to wash her brush. After all, it did need cleaning.

Serenity smiled and felt herself relaxing. He seemed like a nice boy - but then, what else would she have expected? To be honest, she really hadn't met anyone before who wasn't nice! But that didn't make her any less shy.
She didn't want to get her shoes wet, so she slipped them off before making her way slowly towards the water. She wasn't accustomed to walking around in bare feet like the rest of her siblings, but the sand felt good beneath her feet and between her toes. Perhaps she would start going bare foot more often, she mused with a smile.
Only when she reached the water's edge did she realize ... that though she had saved her shoes, her pants would not be spared from the water. She sighed, then stepped into the water, not knowing what to expect.
"Um, Reno," she murmured as she stepped gracefully into the water, "what's everyone doing in the water?"
She had noticed that there was a lot of people there, Seconds mostly, and a lot of them were playing in the water. What she didn't know was why - but then, she had neither seen nor heard of a beach before.

Reno watched Serenity as she took off her shoes and then walked over to the waters edge. From what he could see, she was uneasy to get in. He payed no attention to that though. Once she did finally get in she asked the strangest question. 'What are they doing? What does she mean?' he thought to himself.
He looked around and all he saw was a few people, mostly Seconds, playing in the water. Had she never been to a beach before? That was as good as any guess, so he went with that. "Well, their playing in it. Like I am. You should try it sometime. It's really really fun! Splashing is the best part though!" he said with a grin. He then realized that he forgot to tell EJ that he was going into the water again. He was peacefully sleeping over on the sand and Reno really didn't want to disturb him. After all, he probably would, Reno did seem to be a bit clumsy every so often. He thought nothing of it and just kept splashing. But he tried to keep the splashing away from Serenity, not to get her wet, or too wet in this case. He just smiled and waited for her to finish washing her brush.

Serenity bent at the waist to wash her brush. She didn't want to get her pants more wet than she had to.
"Splashing's the best part?" she asked, a little confused. It looked more like it was just making noise and sending water everywhere ... fun? "What else do they do?" she asked curiously, her green eyes slightly confused. "What else that's fun?"
She knew that the place where she was growing up was far different from this world, but she had never realized exactly how different it was ... She bit her lower lip thoughtfully and looked up at Reno again. "Will ... you show me?" she asked shyly, her voice quiet once again.

Reno just smiled and then began a whole speech on what fun the water was. "Oh! The water is so much fun! Splashing is only one of the best parts. Swimming is also really really fun! I love to swim. And lets see...what else...Oh! If you take some water over to the sand, you can build sandcastles! It's so fun doing that! Umm...lets see...well, and if you look under the water you can sometimes see fishies swimming by and you see a lot of rocks! It's a lot of fun to do too!" He smiled. Then he blushed when she asked him for his help.
"Umm...well, sure! All you do is this to swim. And splashing is easy." Reno then demonstrated a simple stroke. He was having a blast swimming through the water. He had always loved it.

Serenity hesitated a moment, staring down at the clear water she was standing in, still unsure as to whether or not she should get herself wet. It was all well and good for Reno to splash, he was a lot smaller than she was, and therefore a lot closer to the water; but she would have to kneel, or go to deeper water. But as shy as she still was with her new friend - for she already counted him as such - she was more comfortable staying with him than going out and meeting other Seconds.
She made a split-second decision and knelt down in the water, half-expecting it to be cold. She was pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually rather pleasant - just as everything about this world's weather was. She was wet now right up to her waist, but she didn't mind ... she was actually smiling! And not just her usual smile, but widely, one might even say excitedly.
"It's nice!" she exclaimed, her gray-green eyes sparkling warmly, almost like the water itself. She tucked her now-clean paintbrush behind her ear so that she wouldn't lose it, then copied Reno's actions, splashing water all over the place. Some of it sprayed onto her face, and she laughed. It tickled!
"Will you show me how to do that other stuff?" she asked Reno excitedly, her shyness quickly dissipating. "Swimming and sandcastles and stuff? My brother swims, but I don't think he would be a good teacher." Especially since he could breathe underwater, and wouldn't realize that Serenity of course wasn't able.

Reno just looked at her and smiled. He watched as she dipped into the water and he loved the look on her face when she was finally in and splashing around. He grew excited and said, "Oh, of course I can teach you! It won't be hard, just do what I do." He began to stroke with his arms and kick with his feet, swimming out into a bit deeper water. Before, the water was up to his knees, now it was up to his waist.
He did realize that he hadn't told EJ that he was going out, but he didn't mind much, he knew nothing would happen. He did glance at EJ a few times to make sure he was sleeping so that Reno himself could have some fun with his new friend. Then after some thought and looking around at EJ, he said, "So, that wasn't to hard. Once you get this down, I can show you how to build a sandcastle! It's going to be kind of hard though...because we don't have any buckets." He got a bit disappointed that he couldn't show her how to make a good sandcastle but he kept on smiling and waiting for her to try the swimming.
