Owner Tips:
1. Catnip is always good to have around the house. If you want your kitty to mellow out or have a good time just get her some. BUT there is a more potent herb out there that cats like called valerian. Both herbs are not addictive, and you can buy capsules of valerian at vitamin stores, drug stores, or at your local supermarket. Be sure to hide these herbs unless you are giving them to your kitty. n** is a pain to sweap up. sweatdrop
2. Soft canned food is a great treat for cats but it really should stay as that, a treat. Extensive feeding of soft food weakens their teeth and causes bathroom problems later on in life. To get a cat used to eating soft food (as a treat) when they are used to hard food; simply mix a small amount of hard food in the soft. Use a seperate feeding bolw, you don't want to waste food, or keep having to clean their regular dish. DO NOT feed your kitty directly out of the can. The edge is very sharp and your cat can cut it's tongue. Try different kinds of food to see which flavor your cat actually likes. Don't waste your money by buying a heaping load of canned food right out, you don't know what kind they like. giving your kitty soft food once or twice a week is a good redgament to stick to.
Cat Problems Q&A:
Q: How do I keep my cat from clawing the couch? A: The best thing to do is get a scratching post and setting it next to the spot where the cat scratches. Take their paws and show them to scratch there by running their paws up and down the post. Normally after doing this they get the idea and will start scratching on their own. Praise them each time you catch them scratching on the post. If the cat continues to scratch the couch more then the post, or if you cannot get a scratching post; get a squirt bottle and tell them "no" as you shoot a squirt of water at them.
Q: My cat does things I don't want him/her to do, how do I stop this? A: The all mighty squirt bottle! No seriously, a great majority of cats hate water. So what better way to get them to stop doing something then giving them a shot of their natural repelent? Just squirt them once when you see them in the act of doing something wrong. Say in a ster voice "no," as you shoot. Normally they will run right off the bat, but be warned there are some strange kitties out there who actually LIKE water. Eventually you won't need the squirt bottle at all. Just a stern "no" will be all it takes to stop them.
Did You Know?:
1. Cinnamon is catnip for tigers. I don't recomend finding this out for yourself.
