Let's make fun of Babelfish in all its suckiness! Here's what you do: you go to Babelfish, "translate" something or other into some language, "translate" it back, and then post all three texts involved here. The next person rates the text on a scale of destruction and humor (1 = intact, 10 = completely destroyed), then posts their own. Mine: Original How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? to Korean Back! Right tu is the tree to be light seven possibilities tight and right tu it hits Ul E tree tight lightly theyn the place?

That... was about a three, I think... Quote: I didn't say it was nice! But everybody does it! Did you ever clap when a waitress falls and drops a tray of glasses? And ain't it fun to watch figure skaters falling on their asses? And don'tcha feel all warm and cozy, Watching people out in the rain! People taking pleasure in your pain! Quote: I have not said that he was pleasant! But everyone ago! You have never applauded when a waitress it falls and it falls a tray of the glasses? And divertimento in order to watch the figure skaters is not falling on their asses? And tact of don' tcha, watching people all the warmth and cozy outside in the rain! The people that take appeal to in your pain!

About a 4 Original How doth the little crocodile improve his shining tail, And pour the waters of the Nile on every golden scale! How cheerfully he seems to grin, how neatly spread his claws, And welcomes little fishes in with gently smiling jaws! (I used a Lewis Carroll poem because I couldn't think of anything sweatdrop ) Babelfish German Wie doth das kleine Krokodil sein glänzendes Endstück verbessern und das Wasser des Nils auf jeder goldenen Skala gießen! (I also know this poem in German from the Alice in Wonderland Disney film) Back again How doth the small crocodile its shining end piece improve and the water of the Nile on each golden scale pour! It seems how friendly to grinsen, how properly spreading its grip arms and welcome small fish Kiefern smiling inside, also easily! What I don't understand is how it can translate some words one way but not the other. neutral

Uh, what? It looks like the spam emails I used to get. Random words. 7/10. Quote: I'm sorry, but I can't hear you; I have a banana in my ear. Quote: Me sensibility it will be, but me, it will be extensive and it will listen to,; Me there is a banana inside, my ear. ... It sounds something like poetry, something like philosophy, something like porn.

I don't know, maybe a 6. The Original English Sing a song of sixpence A pocket full of rye Four and twenty blackbirds Baked in a pie When the pie is opened The birds begin to sing Isn't that a pleasent gift to set before the king The king is in the counting house Counting out his money The queen is in the parlor Eating bread and honey The maid is in the garden Hanging out the clothes When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose. I can't read Japanese either, but I'm sure it's a terrible attempt. Result If 4 are sung sufficiently in the song of of small size sixpence of the rye A, when the pie opens, as for クロドリ of 20 feathers which burn with the pie the gift where the feeling which it should place before bird king is good singing comes, clo ド リ when picking with the bill from her nose separated, the honey where the queen who eats the pan is in the parlor it is not to be the king in the accounting office which it counts from your that money which is the maid in the garden which catches from clothing, starts. Look at that, it just killed my favourite nursery rhyme too. Yeah, I was wondering about the translating back thing too. My theory is that they translated it so badly the first time that when they tried to translate it back they realised they didn't know what it said anymore. Since I'm not fluent yet in any of these languages though, it's only a theory.
