Ah, the youth of the Jungle were rather disappointing today. A perfectly wonderful day had been spoiled by the meeting of an unusual pair of leopards who had the audacity to call her a half-bird freak and crazy. Not that she blamed them entirely for being wary of believing everything she said right away, it was a little out there if one didn't know about gods- but if seeing was believing, they certainly were sketpical. At least the idea of a lion and a leopard breeding was logical, they were both felines- a lion and a bird didn't make nearly as much sense. Feline and avian just did not mix quite so well.
Ah well, that had been earlier in the day and Mtima'safi was more than content to relax out near the edge of the Jungle for awhile. It wasn't an edge that the goddess was too familiar with, but it was pleasant enough- and worth taking a short stroll through. However, the goddess was currently more focussed on simply sunbathing.

The images of mortal cubs haunted the goddess and for the time being she wandered, and quite frequently. She was using a cave as a 'home base' where she would retreat to if she was sick of moving, sick of thinking. It was a place that reminded her of the earth but gave her complete and utter access to the world of the sky.
For now she'd abandoned her cave and was investigating the jungle world it reminded her a lot of the the roots that grew under her feet. Trotting she emerged at the edge of the tree line and her heart pounde, the open seemed so large sometimes, even for a goddess of her size as she grew into adulthood she had grown considerably.
The Open was to large to free, too untamed she could hear her heart above the earth's melody, the open with it's tall grassed, scarce trees, and yellow lumps..wait yellow lumps? That wasn't a lump it was..
"MTIMA!"

Mtima was pleasantly dozing off when she heard a sudden and familiar voice call out her name. She was immediately startled, not expecting to be recognized in such an area- and she lifted her head up and searched for the source. An amazing and rather welome sight reached her eyes shortly after.
"Boma!" she called out in surprise, "What are you doing out here?"
It came out before she thought about what she was asking. It was a much better question to ask of herself, not of the goddess that was already known for not necessarily making a little home for herself in a mortal pride.

She stood for a moment not moving and eyeing the area around Mtima before covering the distance, "Spending time with the leopards," it just came out and she wasn't sure why. She'd met a leopard alright, a cranky leopard but that seemed like ages ago.
"And yourself? I didn't disturb your nap?" she commented noticing Mtima had seemed startled or possibly shaken from sleep, "Is your lovely son with you?" it seemed odd to see the Goddess away from the great pride..but Boma had run away she knew the need to be with your own kind or no kind.
What a coincidence, both in the jungle!

Mtima laughed at the comment about spending time with leopards, wondering how much truth there was to it and just how pleasant such a venture would be. Today's leopards hadn't been too lovely, but hopefully her dear old friend was luckier than that!
"Oh no, I wasn't napping," she said with a small smile. It was not entirely a lie, she hadn't intended to nap- it just happened. At the mention of her son, she couldn't stop her smile from saddening a little, "No, Wahabu is not around here. I left the Pridelands, I've been living here for quite some time now."

Boma started to laugh and stopped short seeing her friend sadden and she winced her wings fluttering together and making an aweful clashing noise as she moved.
"I didn't mean to bring it up, I wasn't aware. May I ask why you left? she stilled her wings for a moment and sat down with Mtima. For a moment she felt the urge to ask Mtima to come home with her, whether it seemed likely or not Boma found a great connection to the older goddess and wanted she felt the need to show off a place that the rest of the world knew nothing of.
"I havn't returned..I mean too..I want to see him," she opened her mouth to ask about him but stopped herself, him meaning her son.

Mtima winced a little at the sound of the Boma's wings crashing together, it wasn't a noise that she was totally used to. It was, however, a helpful cue to notice just how much bigger Boma had gotten since she'd last seen her- and it made the goddess smile much more cheerful.
"I couldn't stay, I thought about what you'd said, and various other things," she murmured, and shrugged, "I wasn't happy, I was denying who I was by staying there. I had to get a little help making the decision, but I left."
The goddess didn't look too upset as she described why she left, she knew it was for the best in the end. Her family was better off without her, and she was better off where she was.. or so she let herself be convinced. She offered her friend a small, sad smile when Boma mentioned how she hadn't gone back to see her son, but wanted to. "It's not easy, is it?" she said sympathetically.

Boma's heart seemed to melt into her paws as she thought about Mtima leaving her family, they seemed quite happy, she couldn't help but think that maybe the last time Boma had seen the great yellow goddess she might have left an impression on her.
"Not easy, no. I don't think it will ever get better, I want to see how he's doing but I fear Kubwa," she felt as vulnerable as the day she first came to Mtima and the day that she came again with the little ball of fluff on her back.
"I.." she closed her mouth unable to add anymore on the subject of Tete.

"No, I don't expect it will ever get easier to do," she agreed with a sad smile and a nod. Mtima was having a hard time resisting the urge to return to check on her own son, and he was full grown- but the main thing that kept her away was the idea that he might be so angry with her. She'd certainly considered going back without letting herself be seen, but that would be near impossible for a goddess who found concealing her wings so difficult and tiring.
Kubwa was a good lion, Mtima knew that well herself and saw no point in saying so aloud- Boma certainly knew it. But Mtima had no idea how he would react to Boma showing up, so perhaps there was some merit to her concern.
"There could be a way around seeing Kubwa," she murmured, suddenly getting an idea, "If you really wanted to see your son, you could go through someone else. Ask someone to find him for you- and I know the best lion to ask.." Mtima didn't want to force the idea on Boma, but the other goddess wanted to see her son- and had every right to check in. "You could even just ask how he's doing, if you.. didn't want to talk to him.."

She contemplated Mtima's words carefully, being able to hear his name aloud would be a great thing, but the risk of seeing Kubwa, of seeing that baby? Could she chance it without feeling the pains of guilt? She wasn't sure and being unsure frightened her more than anything.
"I don't..I don't trust myself, but who's this lion, who would check in?" she added, "just in case."
Did the little cub have a strong name now? Was Kubwa doing right by him? Had he taken the little white fluffy thing off and made him a wimp? Would he carry his mother's markings always? Would Kubwa and Mtima have given him her feathers? Her head swam and swam, she suddenly wished she was back in the ocean and hadn't seen Mtima again, it only brought back her mental ocean of thought.

Mtima watched Boma carefully, needing very little effort to put herself in the other goddess's place. Their situations were different, yet so very similar it was not at all difficult for her to understand what was going through her mind. She offered a small, reassuring smile.
"Tai," she said very simply before explaining, "I left the cub with a pride nanny, she is very trustworthy and would certainly have taken good care of him until Kubwa came to get him. She might still know where he is, might be able to tell you something."
Watching Boma, Mtima suddenly became rather worried about her. "I hope you haven't been dwelling only on this," she murmured, knowing that cubs were hard to just ignore- but letting it consume you entirely in such a negative way wasn't good for her, "Tell me what you've been up to since I last saw you." It was an attempt at a change of subject, and Mtima could only hope it wasn't a dead end.

"Tai, I will remember her name, but I will.. I'm just so scared, Mtima," her eyes glinted with the hints of tears but she pulled herself together quickly, she was meeting a new friend best to be happy at seeing Mtima's yellow face!
"I've been digging a hole, it's rather neat, something of an underwater project, I would love to show you," she ignored Mtima's question of dweling, wasn't it obvious she was?
"That and meeting many new people, mostly immortals, they make me happier," she nodded, "Met many immortals since we last spoke? They just seem to come from everywhere."

Mtima tried to move past the tearful expression her friend wore, trying to get them to a new subject where she would not be so upset. She was immedaitely surprised to hear that Boma was digging a hole, for it certainly sounded like dwelling to her- but the offer to show her and the mention of meeting other lions quickly changed her mind. Boma wasn't doing too poorly, if she was managing to be social!
"I'd love to see it," she said brightly, "I've only met one other god, and he was the one who helped me finally decide to leave. Who have you met?"

Boma brightened, "It's lovely, I've been meaning to cover it in gem stones..the hole is a part of a small cave system, sort of like..well before I came back to this side," she said, meaning of course the sky side of the world. She was doing well...but not well enough to be considered so.
"One, well I can't remember his name but he looked starved and talked like..well he was disgusting," she shivered noticably, "The other is god of pride I believe, Katana is his name?"
"Someoe convinced you to leave?" Was it me? She questioned.

Mtima had seen her share of caves, especially not too long ago when her pride had been alive and thriving. However, she knew with someone like Boma it was bound to be a much more beautiful and wonderous thing to see.
"I only saw you that day," she commented, recalling very clearly the day she had met the lovely Boma'burudi. It would certainly be interesting to see what kind of world Boma had been in before, "You'll have to show me."
She listed as Boma listed off two gods she'd met, and immediately knew who she was talking about when she said 'god of pride'. A bright smile lit up her face, wondering at the conisidence that they should both have met him in their time apart.
"Katana'k? He's the one I met, who helped me," Mtima informed her, "Imagine that."
