Numas: Ness and Liang (later maybe twilight)
Location: Near Ness's cottage to start
Starting setting: late evening, well dark.. and the chill night air of the tail of summer is about. Ness is on her roof watching stars when she spots the golden numa creeping about. and.. for Liang. She somehow got lost earlier when playing Hide and Seek with her brother.
Ness laid there on her roof. She peered down. The sparkliness of the golden numa caught her eye immediately. Certainly all numa were beautiful in their own way; but this numa certainly was dazzling. Ness thought she looked small. then she noticed.. it must be a pup. Whatever was a pup doing out this late?

Liǎng Yí had found the perfect hiding spot. One of the candy boulders in the meadow had a hole in it, just big enough for a pup to squeeze inside. She had hid there for some time, giggling as Twilight searched the surroundings. But then his voice had faded, and she hadn't heard it for some time.
Maybe her hiding spot was too good. Poking her head out of the hole, she looked around. No one was there. It was darker than it had been when they'd started playing, and colder too. Shivering, Liǎng Yí tumbled out of the rock and sniffed, rubbing her paws together in her long sleeves.
She wasn't scared. But she was cold, and rather unhappy.

Ness flew down to the spot she saw the golden numa leading her like a latern in the dark. She fluttered down as she reached the ground gently. "Well now... What's a pup like you doing all the way out here this dark? Were you abandoned or something?" Ness looked at her. The part of Ness that loved helping others.. especially pups.

For a moment, Liǎng Yí was startled. She whirled around, her sleeves waving in the breeze as she did. "Who are you?" she asked, taking a defensive position. This other Numa was bigger than she was, but that didn't mean that she would surrender easily.
Not that it seemed a fight was imminent. Liǎng Yí paused, then relaxed slightly. "I... we were playing," she said, sounding like the lost pup that she was, with a bit of a quiver in her voice. "Nii-san was supposed to find me. But he never did."
Even in her predicament, Liǎng Yí was proud of her hiding spot. She might even choose it again sometime. Especially since the worry of being lost was slowly dissolving. If a grown-up was there, it couldn't be that bad.

Ness just watched her with a slightly worried expression. Ness would always drop whatever she was doing to help other numas. This would be no exception. She didn't like the idea of this young lady stuck out at night. It was so dark. What with all these coffees springing up everywhere... and maybe some adult numas who were wild or liked to play jokes on unsuspecting pups.
Ness squatted down to get to her level. "Hey.. um. My name is Ness. And, I live not too far from here. How about if you just come over and stay at my house till the morning? When the sun comes up, I'll walk you home. Ok? My house is safe... and warm. Even if your mom is worried about you, I'm sure she'd be glad to know your safe and was well taken care of. Then, knowing you slept in a rock all cold outside."

"Ness-oneesan," Liǎng Yí repeated. She seemed nice enough. And she wanted to get out of the cold very much indeed. But something wasn't quite right. Wasn't this all a bit too easy? She got lost, and just happened to find someone who would help? Or rather, that someone found her.
Still, being inside and in trouble wouldn't be worse than being outside and relatively safe.
Slowly, Liǎng Yí took a step forward. "I don't live with Mama," she announced matter-of-factly. "I live with Nii-san and Nee-san. And sometimes Tóng, but he's not here right now."
Liǎng Yí wished that Tóng Yí was there, then she'd feel more secure. When they were together, surely they were unbeatable! But it wasn't like she was a pushover. Brimming with confidence, she took another step forward. "Okay!"

Ness led the way back to the house which just happened to be not far away; although it was hard to make out at night since most of the lights were out. Ness turned to Liang. "I'm gonna turn on the lights before you get it, but I'll leave the door open. Just come in when you're ready, ok?" Ness went inside to turn on the lights in the main room.
She kept the beaded drapes to her playhouse closed for the time being. She then went into the kitchen and set some hot cocoa on the stove, and she got a small ball of cotton candy and put it into a tiny baggie. She returned to the part of the room where you come in the door at. "Welcome to my home, Liang. It's full of surprises. You can sit on the bed or come to the table. Whichever you like..."
Though Ness wondered to herself if she knew these "Nii-san or Nee-san" people... She felt almost enchanted to have such a darling little girl at her house.

The house was a lot closer than Liǎng Yí had first thought. She didn't even have time to ask any questions. Before she could open her mouth, the older Numa had slipped through the door, and she was left alone outside.
Which wasn't a bad thing. While Liǎng Yí was confident in her abilities, she appreciated having a moment to collect herself. Thinking on it again, she was sure what she wanted to do- and that was get out of the chilly night air. With a last shiver, she got up and ran inside.
It was warm, for a start. And nice and cheerful, like the lady who welcomed her. "Ojamashimasu," she said quickly, bowing her head. Then she was up and looking around again, bright eyes taking in everything. "Do you live here by yourself, oneesan? It's so big!"

Ness looked warmly at the young girl. "Yeah. I'm afraid so. I keep hoping maybe I can find myself a pet someday... Or someone who wants to stay here... but for now it's just me..."
She went over and brought a small end table to where Liang was at. Then, she returned with small cups like chinese tea cups. She poured cocoa into them, and she set the bag of cotton candy next to it. Then, she sat on the floor.
"I do get visitors sometimes. I'm content for now to make friends and entertain people here. Maybe one day, I'll have pups running around or something."

The thought of someone living alone was sad. Liǎng Yí hated being by herself; it was much more fun to be with her brother, or one of the people she lived with. Even annoying people were sort of fun, because then she could fight them. But being alone was both depressing and boring.
"I hope you find someone to stay with you, oneesan," Liǎng Yí replied. Seeing the cocoa, she pounced on the drink, paws grasping the cup through her long sleeves. She took a quick sip, then held the cup at arms' length. "Oishii! Yummy!" With renewed vigor, she took another, longer drink, almost draining the cup. It was delicious!

Ness smiled feeling glad that the girl was there to visit, even if it was a chance encounter. "Oh, well... I have a room with lots of things to entertain myself.. and, I like going outside a lot. I go off and meet others... so.. I don't get too terribly lonely."
Ness just smiled. She appreciated the sentiment that this little girl was compassionate to her life of solitude. "Well, some of my friends have these... pets? there are like.. little tiny animals.. and they are very cute. Maybe I'll get one of those. I'm sure the feeling of another body in here will liven it up lots."

Setting the cup down, Liǎng Yí wiped her mouth on her sleeve. "You make yummy chocolate, oneesan." It had really warmed her up, and she was feeling a lot better. Even a bit less apprehensive, and more willing to play nice. If she knew what the game was. "Do you play games? I was playing hide-and-seek with Nii-san when he got lost..."
Of course Liǎng Yí hadn't gotten herself lost. She knew where she had been all that time- in the rock.
"Pets? That sounds fun." Nii-san had a fish, but otherwise nobody she knew had a pet. Not that she knew many people. "I don't have any pets. Just a brother." He was small and cute, just like her! That probably counted.

Ness gave her a mischevious smile. "Oh yeah. I definitely play games. But.. mine are on a box.. and are colorful. Um... beyond that curtain is a room with lots of things that have lights and sounds. It's where I go when I'm bored. or... If I feel in the mood to show off..."
Ness got up and took stuff into the kitchen when they were done. "We can play something if you want... Are you tired? If you're tired... you can use my bed." Ness looked at her and wondered if she should be concerned about the fact that being around young ones was bringing out all these natural instincts.

Liǎng Yí wrinkled her nose. "Games with a box? Like a toybox? I have a box for some of my toys." Though her toys were more like a collection than a simple bunch of playthings. "I like to show my toys to people. Is it like that, oneesan?"
Maybe, if Liǎng Yí ever saw this oneesan again, she would show off her collection. It was pretty special in her opinion. Even her Nii-san and Nee-san liked some of the things she had found.
"I'm not sleepy," she added, after a moment's thought. "Tired, but not sleepy. Do you want to play something, oneesan? I like to play!" Hide-and-seek was definitely out of the question, but Liǎng Yí could think of other games. Maybe tag, or catch, or a guessing game... there were so many choices!

Ness looked thoughtfully. "Well... what about dancing? I think that is fun... or.. I can show you my video games..." Ness found herself amazed that this little person had her without a thought for a game to play. Ness sure did like having fun; but sometimes, she wasn't that creative with coming up with games. "well... we can do whatever you want... what would you like to do? You name it... and we'll do THAT!"
