Kiefer yawned, and flicked his medium length tail back and forth. It was a cool day. For summer, at least. The wind blew by, warning of the coming of Autumn. Soon the leaves would be falling from the tree, showing their vibrant colors. The foals would play in them.

He looked up at the trees. All the same colors. Green, green, and more green. He remembered how, at the beginning of spring he marvled at the radiant colors that stood in such contrast to bleak winter. But now he was getting tired of them again. He noticed a few apples still hanging on the tree, yet to be eaten or to have fallen off. Odd.

He carefully put his hoof up on the bark, wondering if it would hold. Oh well, he would find out soon enough, right? He put the other hoof up, stretching his neck as far as he could, only barely scraping the flesh of the apple with them. His hoof slipped, and the other, unable to hold his weight on it's own, was soon after. He collapsed on the ground, but got up, uninjured, save a few scrapes on his chin from the tree.

He looked up at the apples again. How was he to get them?

Miss Luna Lovegood was watching the birds chirping a nearby tree when she heard a loud Thump. She rose quickly and looked around. Nothing to be seen, but the sound couldn't have been the mares imagination.. Luna shook her mane to produce a grass free one.

Starting towards the center of the sound wasn't as easy as it looked. Not hearing it repeatidly made it worse. Eventually she came upon what looked to be a stallion staring at a limb of a tree. Slowly approaching she noticed he was trying to figure out that large question. How to get an apple, when its high up?

Standing quitly she watched his movements. The stallion had vibrant colors of gold and brown. Luna watched the confused one and flipped her mane and looked down at her cork necklace.

Kiefer's ears perked up, hearing a noise. He looked to the side. A mare. How long had she been watching. He hoped she hadn't just seen him fall out of the tree. Well not so much out of as off of. Anyway, it didn't matter much, did it? He had done stupid things in front of others as long as he remembered, and one more time certainly didn't hurt.

"Erm. I'm Kiefer" he said, sensing the fact that if they spent too much time just staring at each other, it's bound to get awkward. "I was just...trying to get the apples" he said, looking up. Kiefer wasn't a large stallion. Average, sized, maybe even on the small side, for the most part. But it was frustrating. Why must the apples be JUST out of reach?

The mare walked closer to the stallion. Without looking at him she spoke, ''Hello There. My name is Luna. Luna Lovegood.'' Luna circled the tree and looked at all the apples. Clearly seeing one at eye level, she grabbed it and put it in fron of Kiefer. ''I suppose it would be easier to get one more level to the ground.'' Luna couldn't help but smile, then turned her head towards the direction she left.

He blinked. She had clothing. And two names. Weird. As far as Kiefer saw it, why wear two legger clothing when he could just wear his own fur? And two names? Kiefer figured he only really needed one. But to each his or her own.

"Erm. Thanks" he said, Wow, he was quite the genius, wasn't he? A low apple, and all he had to do was look around a bit. "Yea...er...it would be easier, wouldn't it be?" he said, taking the apple. "are you sure you don't want them?" he asked. Still...if she wanted one, she would just of taken this one, right?

The mare smiled, looking at the highest apple, ''Although the highest apple always taste the best. I suppose the satisfaction of recieving it would be the reason. ''Ahh, no thanks. I just had a bunch not to long ago.''

Luna looked back at the Stallions face and noticed his eyes stood out on his golden color. ''Sorry, for barging in on you and all.''As she spoke, she brought her attention back to Keifers whole image.

"Yes..." he said, eying the apple just out of reach lustily. He remembered his friend, Journey, had kicked the tree to make the apples fall. Kiefer looked at the tree. Any loose apples would have probably fallen by now...and it looked rather flimsy. Kicking it might make it break...and that wasn't what he wanted.

He looked over to her as she spoke again. "Barging? Oh, no, no. I wasn't doing anything. In fact, I was getting rather bored, I'm happy someone showed up" he said, not wanting her to feel bad. After all, it was true.

Kiefer looked over in the distance, the trees of the forest shaking a bit in the wind. "Would you like to go somewhere? Like I said, I am bored...and I haven't been in the forest for some time" he said, smiling. That would be fun...

The mare looked back at Kiefer, ''Ahh, It has been a very quiet day...Hasn't it?'' Luna smiled back at him softly. ''Sure, the forest is always an interesting place to go and visit. So many interesting things lay there.'' Bringing her attention to the edge of the forest, the mare raised her head and took a few steps forward.

Taking another few steps forward, Luna slightly turned her head to see if the golden stallion would follow.

Kiefer grinned, and followed the odd, clothed mare. "The last time I've really explored the forest was when I was a foal....I think" he said. It was very hard to remember things, sometimes. particularly working out what was recent and what was long ago.

The approached the edge of the forest. As he had grown, it had become less dark, less scary. It no longer seemed to loom in the distance, calling to be explored, no matter how many times his mother had warned him that he would get lost.

No, now it just seemed like the woods. A sticky, damp place that wasn't exactly tempting, but still interesting.

''The Forest can be a very enjoyable place. You just have to know where to go.'' As they approached the edge, she stepped in side, and a leaf cracked. Looking all around, it was so quiet and peaceful. ''Don't you love this place? I go here to relax when Im angry.

Closing her eyes, she listened to the birds chirp and all the other animals. Stepping a bit closer, Luna opened her eyes again and looked back at Kiefer to see his opinion

"I s'pose you should lead the way, then" he said, nodding. He didn't know the forest very well, and it sounded like Luna spent quite some times there. It was always good to have someone who knew the area to guide you. Otherwise it might not end up well.

"It is nice..." he said, looking up at the bright leaves, the sun trickling in and casting shadow patterns on the ground. Kiefer had found that he had never really stopped to enjoy things as they were, most areas were simply some annoying place he had to get through to get to where he had to go.

Maybe the woods weren't so horrible after all...

As the mare took another step deeper into the forest, the leaves brushed against her soft, silky mane. The temperature dropped the deeper she walked, as the trees were most likely keeping the harsh sun out. Each step made a crunch noise. Above, the leaves seemed to be darkening. ''I suppose fall is approaching.'' The mare turned her head and smiled at the Stallion.

Waiting for Kiefer to enter the forest, Luna stood next to a rather large oak tree, it was drooping at the time, a little bit above reach.

Kiefer followed Luna into the forest, it was steadily getting darker. It indeed did remind him of the time when he have first explored the forest with Tierce. They had gone deeper and deeper on a challenge, a game of chicken. Of course, both were too stubborn to turn back. They had gotten lost, but were lucky enough to have made their way out. Of course, he was too old now to worry about such things. Even if he did lost his way, the bigger he got, the smaller the forest seemed to get.

"I hope it doesn't completely block out the sun" he thought out loud, looking at the thick coating of leaves that seemed to become the sky of the forest. Fall was coming indeed, and soon the forest would be stripped bare, with only the branches, the skeletons of the trees, to block the sky.

"I enjoy fall. Such nice colors" he said to her, joining her under the oak tree.

The mare continued forward admiring all the new surrondings. ''It may get pretty dark, but never completely. Not that I have seen. Maybe once its pretty far into sunset, but I have never stayed in the forest that long.'' Stepping on a large tree branch, Luna just barely survived a fall. ''Heh, I guess I found the clumsy side of myself.'' She let out a laugh and looked back at Kiefer.

''Fall is quite an amazement.'' Walking further into the forest, she listened to what sounded like little creatures speak to eachother.

Kiefer laughed when she stumbled. "Don't worry...I've made myself look like an idiot in front of others too many times to count..." he said. Although she didn't seem embarrassed, he only occasionally did. Often times his mistakes were because he was doing something stupid and dangerous. He usually deserved it.

"When I was a foal, a friend and I went in deep enough for the sun to be gone. But it was also late by the time we got out...so who knows if it had just become nightfall, or the sun really was blocked out" he said. He certainly felt like it was the sun blocked out.

"It's a nice break from the other seasons. Summer and spring are always so green. A nice color, but it often gets boring" he mused. "And winter is so bare and white. Nice, of course. But not too much beats the vibrancy of fall"
