As you enter a strange smell dances across your nose. The smell is sweet yet sour, spicy but bitter, you can't quite make out any particular scent. Further inspection shows many different kinds on incense burning on the desk and scented candles that seem to be floating around the room. The four-poster queen-sized bed frames the window rather nicely. It's trunk like posts give the illusion that the bed is actually alive. The green drapes, which feel like the very leaves themselves, hanging from the bed give the room an earthly glow. The hand painted, forest scenes painted on the walls and ceiling add to the earthly feel of the room. From a thick trunk the closet seems to appear from nothing. My bathtub and toilet lay behind the waterfall curtain on the far side. But sadly a television does not exist because my beliefs forbid it.

Nicodemus rose from his slumber to find a full moon shining in through the drapes.

"Ahh," he sighed. "'Tis such a beautiful night. I wonder how many souls have risen at this hour."

He peeled away his comforter and walked over to what seemed to be a flowing waterfall. The curtain swayed and flowed as he tread through it to the toilet. After he had completed the gruesome task, Nicodemus silently sauntered to his desk and lit a tall candle. From the desk he lifted the candle into the air and let it go. Strangely, it did not fall. It floated as if held up by an invisible force.

"That's better," he said. "Now the lost spirits should know they are welcome here."

He sat at his desk and blew the dust from an ancient text. The title read, "Magista Des Lunas". He slowly opened the book and began reading where he left off. Page after page he read, with every word the walls seem to come alive; the animals began to run through the room, the leaves started to rustle in the wind, the sounds of the forest burst from every corner. In a matter of minutes his room had finally been completed, it was a forest all it's own.

"That's better," he proclaimed, listening to the echo. "Now I have a 60,000 acre forest all to myself."

"Now that I have finished my work here, I think I shall take a break in the library," he stated as if someone was listening. Nicodemus left the tome on the desk that now looked like a formation of stone and quickly walked out the door.

Nicodemus entered his domain to find autumn had come early in his little part of the world.

"This is such a beautiful season," he sighed. "So many colors the trees look as if they are giant torches."

He wandered about his creation searching for a specific spot. As he drew closer to a small knot in a tree he said, "It should be around here somewhere...aww here it is."

Nicodemus pushed in the tiny knot and before him a door appeared. Just a door, nothing special about it except that the carvings showed an intricate scene of brutality. It was indeed the night his parents were murdered, what he could remember anyway. The carvings turned their heads to look at him.

"Just making sure you were all here," he told them. "I don't want anyone to accidentally find you and discover all of my secrets."

The carvings nodded in agreement and the door slowly dissolved into the knot from whence it appeared.

A light snow began to fall upon the peaceful scene. Within minutes the landscape was covered in white beauty and a bright aurora created a speckled show of reds, blues, and greens against the sparkling snowscape.

"If only everyone respected the miracles of natures as I do," Nicodemus muttered to himself. A single tear rolled along his cheek. "I apologize for the humans' actions."
