Tahnia sat beneath a tall tree, enjoying the cool breeze and pleasant shade she recieved under its boughs. She felt incredibly lazy this particular afternoon, and the dry heat wasn't helping her mood at all. She parted her lips to release a yawn, and stretched her long limbs out along the ground. Her claws grated the earth as she settled into a laying position on her stomach, wrapping her long tail about her comfortably.
Bored, she raised her head and let her violet eyes search the horizon. Perhaps something exciting was somewhere nearby. One could only hope so.

Spotted paws beat against the earth as a light breeze trickled in between his fur cooling his body at the high speeds that he was running. He was pushing himself hard, going all out and running as fast as he could, which was pretty fast. He needed to feel the rush of the wind against his body.
It was a feeling that made his blood rush, pound and sent shivers down his spine. It just felt so good especially in the heat. Running always helped cool him down. It had been a while since he had done this, Maksia always insisted on riding on his back whenever he went anywhere so he was never really free to run like he was now.
He closed his eyes and pushed hard, his paws hitting the ground a bit more heavily before. He was shut off from the world if only for a few minutes.

Something caught her eye, and Tahnia glanced up to see a blurred figure in pale gold and black darting across the plains. This creature was racing over the earth as if he were running on clouds, as if he had been born with the need to run coursing through his veins.
She knew, now, that this must be a cheetah: only recently had she learned that she was one, and she too had that uncontrollable urge to dash through the tall grass. It was a wonderful feeling she enjoyed, as did most cheetahs, she assumed.
For a moment she simply watched the figure as he ran, admiring the strength and endurance he obviously had. Her heart beat faster as her eyes followed his form as it sped by. Observing her was making her want to run, too. And why not?
After a brief stretch of the limbs, she did what she knew best: she ran, long and hard. She breathed deeply and approached the area where the paler figure was running. Perhaps, wordlessly, she could challenge him, from her place not far away; if he didn't pick up on it, she wouldn't bother him. She knew that sometimes one ran to get away from reality; the rush of doing what came naturally to her could take away the pain and loneliness the real world brought to her. If he took no notice of her coy challenge, she wouldn't press him, but would continue to run. It felt good.

The male took no notice of the cheetah trailing not to far behind him until he managed to trip over the ground tumbling headfirst into the ground. As he rolled onto his bum he let out a loud laugh before he finally caught the sound of steps behind him. Turning his head he saw the female and smiled brightly at her before jumping back onto his paws.
He began to run again accepting her challenge with much enjoyment in doing so. It had been a while since he had run with another cheetah by his side, the last time was with his siblings and that had been years ago.

The sound of laughter filled Tahnia's ears as she raced past the male, and a small smile crept across her lips. This cheetah was one with a sense of humor, as far as she could tell, and this pleased her to know. She was in no mood for seriousness; quite the contrary! She continued to pump her legs, enjoying the feeling of her paws pounding the dry grass and dusty ground beneath her.

Pushing his legs he caught up with her rather easily and chose to run beside her for the time being. Speed was the one real advantage he ever had over anyone, even other cheetahs. He was a tad bit faster than the average cheetah which in a way gave him muscles but not as much as some might have wanted.
It didn't bother the male though. Picking up his pace once more he slowly edged past her enjoying the thrill of the race before he started to slow down laughter ringing out loudly. "Hey....miss....that...that...was...fun." He mumbled between each breath, after all one could only run for so long.

Tahnia saw the male pull up beside her and watched him from the corner of her eye. Boy, he was fast! Rediculously fast. She loved to race but could see that he loved to run even more than she. It was admirable.
She slowed herself down, panting. She'd given up after noting that she couldn't outrun him; and besides, she was tired. She came to a slow stop and smiled at the light-colored male. "I... agree," she huffed.

A broad smile slid across his lips as he looked at the blue-gray female who had 'fallen' beside him from exhaustion. "Thanks for the race." He told her with a nod once he caught his breath settling down to his haunches to study the female. "My name is Kikahawia'kikavu, but you can call me Kika if you'd like." He offered light laughter slipping from his maw. "It's much easier to say than my full name."
Tilting his head his jade colored eyes moved to meet her dark lavender ones. "May I be given the honor of knowing your name?"

"Kika... may I call you Kikavu, at least?" She smiled brightly up at the pale-colored male, taking in his form now that he was more discernable than a yellow blur.
He was polite, which she appreciated, and it didn't hurt that he was cute. "My name's Tahnia, plain and simple. Means 'morning dew' -- how about yours?" Sure, the meaning of a name was a lame starting point in conversation, but at least she was starting somewhere.

"If that is what you wish Miss." Kika replied almost automatically with a dip of his head. He had always been taught to treat females with respect and to help them if they needed, so if she wanted to call him a longer part of the nickname he had given her then she was more than welcome to. "Tahnia? That's a very pretty name miss." He told her when she gave him her name and it's meaning. "The name of your name Miss Tahnia is much prettier than my own, it simply means 'light brown'." After telling her he let out a light laugh. "I suppose my parents weren't that creative when coming up with a name for me."
