i was in the car with my mom and i put my headphones over her ears and said "hey listen to this" i started by putting on some linkin park. she took off the headphones and sounded disgusted. then i said "here's another band" and i put on the red jumpsuit apparatus. she hated that too!! then she couldn't stand dragonforce!!! or yellowcard. or the used. do your parents like any of the music that you listen to?

My parents like most of mine, but that's because I got into their music. They don't like, though, Foo Fighters or Audioslave, I don't think. I'm pretty sure they don't like My Chemical Romance either.
I like most of the bands you listed, but I've never heard of Yellowcard. confused Or Dragonforce, for that matter. I'll look them up.
You have to realize, though, parents grew up with ZZ Top, The Eagles, Aerosmith, and even The Beatles (just to name a few). They aren't used to songs that scream or have really heavy guitar (some so heavy that you can't hear the words!). They don't see the musical quality in it because they grew up in that kind of generation.
They probably aren't used to guys sounding like girls, either (check out Mika). Unless they listened to hair bands. xd

i guess that's true. my dad doesn't really mind my music as much as my mom, though. i think that my dad has a bit more of an open mind to music than my mom. no matter what, neither of them like cussing in the songs.

My mom's really weird, like me, she listens to all sorts of stuff. One day I had fuse on tv and the music video for Welcome to the Black Parade came on and she walks in and says "oh, I really like this song..." but she had no idea who they were. She also listens to jazz and pop and classical and classic rock of course...I guess she's where I get my love for a wide variety of music...

my mom and i like most of the same kinds of music, but there are some that she likes that i don't, like Dixie Chicks and Everclear. as for my dad, i don't think he has a favorite kind of music, he just lets me listen to whatever i want when i ride with him in the car

my mom can't stand any hard rock/screamo/punk like AFI, Linkin Park, Gallows, etc. But then she'll turn on hardcore rap. It kinda makes me want to smack her.

My grandfather doesn't like rock music, so of course he thinks I'm nuts for listening to the music that I like. We recently got a new radio station where I live and it plays classic rock and pop music. Every time I'm in the car with my grandparents one of them complains about the "noise".

Thankfully my dad and brother can stand my music. In fact, my dad actually cares to find out what my favourite bands are and such (Linkin Park, MCR, Nightwish, etc). My mom... not so much. She likes country and pop so we clash fairly often. But I admit, I don't poke fun at her tastes as much as she pokes fun at mine. neutral
