Mkay. So, I'm curious. There are a bunch of alignment changing templates, like Vampire (everything to evil) and a bunch of alignment forcing races (like Half-Celestial)

So, say a lawful neutral HC was bitten by a vampire, who drained it's blood, etc etc etc. It would come back as a lawful evil vampire HC, wouldn't it?

Now, looking over a HC's abilities, that would mean that it could smite itself, give protection from itself, and, ironically enough, cast a daylight spell.

So, would it make sense to go back, and change some of those abilities? Like change smite evil into smite good, protection from evil to protection from good, daylight to darkness, etc.?

Or would it just be a really screwed up character?

I'm pretty sure vampirism only works on human characters or rather humanoids, not outsiders.

Vampirism works on most anything. (They have vampiric dragons in the Draconomicon O_O). I think it's mostly on sentient beings that it works (will know for sure once he finds his Monster Manual), but it's like a celestial turning evil. All that would change is its alignment. It COULD smite itself, it DOES get bonuses against itself. But this means that it, a usual case of 'worse of the two evils', has a better chance of being the big bad cause his minions would suck more than him. Hehe... I can see it now. A Fallen Solar Angel working with his minions.

Solar: I said dig damn it!
Lesser Demon: I'm digging as fast as I can my lord!
Solar: And it's not fast enough! SMITING PUNT!!
*Loud squish sound*
Solar: Damn... while refreshing, I'm down one minion... NEXT!!
Lesser Demon #2: Oh hell....

Ya, thats how it works...
Trust me, we have a really good cleric. Thats why he choose to summon outsider things like angels in a semi-vampire hunting campign.

I thought that outsiders could not be raised after dying except by the wish spell or by the true resurrection spell. I remember reading that some where

no vampirism doesnt just work on humans, it works on basicly all characters unless said otherwise. i forgot whats its called but thers resistance to vampirism on certain races.also its like resistant to lyconthropy, any caracter like that cant become a lycanthrop.

but yeah you could smite yourself (not that youd want too)
and if you wanted to you could cast sunlight (again not that youd want too lol)
and no you cant go back and change your spells, right there your kinda screwed, ad most you could be a evil smiting evil vampire

Some outsiders can be, such as those gained by class level, but from what I can recall, your basic, everyday outsider cannot return as a vampire.

Vampiric Solar Angel: Ahhhh what a beautiful day out it is today. I don't think I'll need sunblock to go to the beach

30 minutes later while walking on the beach...

Vampiric Solar Angel: *Now running around on fire* AHHHHHH!!! THE SUNBLOCK DOES NOTHING!!!!

And the daylight spell does not cause damage to vampires. It's just a light source.
