Fueled By FireThese guys are a new thrash band from So. Cal. Their lyrics are based around metal life and striking down posers. I saw them live two weeks ago, and they did an outstanding job. If you look in some of the pictures on their myspace, I'm in them on the (Band's)right side of the stage, just so ya know. Anyway, give 'em a listen and tell me what you think.

I liked them very much, but after a few listens the vocals made me a bit sick. sweatdrop
Solo's and riffs are really good though. Better them most 80's bands who are still making albums.

They have a very 80's sound. And I actually like the vocals. A lot. They are keeping it metal too, no metalcore influences in sight on the whole album. They know what it's all about, live, they gave a whole anti-emo speech. Not speech, but ya know.

I don't like thoses speaches, just play the music! cool People pay to see good old Exodus-like-thrash-metal. They didn't pay to see the same shitty anti emo speeches as the ones in the metal forum razz
But yes, i'm happy that they don't do metalcore screams and breakdowns, i don't like that in thrash.

Ya know, speaking of screams, I really don't like Testament's or Exodus's new vocalists. I never have been a fan of the Anselmo-esque "Screams". And for the record, if it has the breakdowns or screams, it ain't thrash. The reason I have always loved Exodus, Testament, "Kill 'em All", and Lucifer's Heritage are the clean, yet not clean vocals. But live, Exodus was great. I just don't like the vocals on Shovelheaded Kill Machine.
But, hey, the anti-emo stuff just shows that they are true to the scene. Thrash used to be anti hair metal posers, now it's anti emo posers and nu-metal posers. (The ones who claim Slipknot is the greatest metal band ever). I think it really adds to it when you're at the show, rallies the crowd, gets them into you more when you're thinking the same way. You know?

Gravechild6 Warrior of Metal And for the record, if it has the breakdowns or screams, it ain't thrash. confused Breakdowns + Screams = Metalcore. Not all breakdowns, but the really emo ones where they get super gay and all emotional and s**t. Or the Double bass blast which is followed by the symbol thing, like in, *Gasp*, KSE's shitty cover of Holy Diver. You know what I mean. I don't mean the good kind of breakdowns, like in death metal or thrash/death.

Thrash (and metal in general) is allowed to have breakdowns as long as it's not a main part of their overall song structure. And vocals have nothing to do with determining genres.

But theirs a difference between a Morbid Angel breakdown and a As I Lay Dying breakdown, ya know? And theirs a difference between Anselmo's screams and As I Lay Dying's screams. You get what I'm saying. He said it as in Metalcore breakdowns and screams, so my equation applies only to metalcore stuffs. You get the point by now.
