What kind of vampires are we talking about here? Anne Rice style vamps or "living human vamps"?

PeaceMaker Don't forget Psychic Vampires either. Psychic vamps would also fall under the category of LHVs (or HLV if you prefer...). I have another question...are we considering psychic vamps in this or is it just the sanguinarians (the blood drinkers) ?

I say we consider them all, as they all are vampires. Anyways, I'd like to speak on this subject, so here i go:
Things that are true: -Vampires do drink blood -They are more prone to getting sunburn -They have heightened senses, especially when it comes to vision is relation to sunlight -Psychic Vamps feed off of people's energy or prana, by means of "feeding" in this, it's hard to explain but it's a transfer of energy from host to donor -Vampires are born, not made or "turned"
Not true: -Not allergic to Garlic, most like it actually -Anyone who's gets stabbed with a stake through the heart is going to die -Doing anything to a dead body is wrong, vampires don't turn after they're dead -Won't die in direct sunlight, they do however have more of a tendency of being sunburnt and sunlight does hurt the eyes more than a normal human (Causes major headaches too)
I guess I shall consider myself the vampire expert here if you all don't mind, and anything else you'd like to ask, please feel free to and I shall answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability. By the way, I am a Psy Vamp.

Ah, vampires. These, aparently, are my forte.
There are a number of medical condtions that have been put forward to explain the superstition of vampires, although I cannot remember their names right now.

Contrary to what Hollywood and literature teaches you kids, you cannot be "turned" into a vampire by biting or blood-sharing. Vampires simply are. It's something that you're born with. All go through what is called an "awakening", and this is where your body and mind-set start to change to take on the vampiric way. Things that happen (or that in most cases can be associated with) are: -depression -increased sensitivity to light -crave blood (sang.) -feeling/seeing energy (psy.) -irritability
I think they should make vampirism an actual medical term... my doctor said he didn't know what was wrong with me, and I found out what I was going through on my own. So, If you think you could be a vamp, I'd say DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! If you don't, you'll never truely know who you are. Oh and just because you have one or more of what's listed abve doesn't make you a vamp, again with the research! Oh, and soul searching is a BIG help, meditate to find the answers if you can, I know that helped me out a lot! smile

-depression -increased sensitivity to light
-irritability
Um... All those can apply to me... I'm pretty sure I am not a vampire though....

My thoughts exactly. I don't get how people can NOT believe in the thought of there being Vampires, but I guess to each their own. As I said Jagged, just because you have the symptoms doesn't mean you are one. Just do your research though if you think you may be. Any other quetions?

*blink* A friend of mine is(was?) a vampire... I haven't talked to her in a few weeks, so I'll have to ask her again, but... well, I was with her during her "awakening", and she was turned. She met this guy at a party, and he bit her(don't remember where), and then he had her bite him. Later he told her that he was a vampire, and that she would soon be turning. I helped her through this time by giving her energy(since she obviously couldn't go around biting people), but she definately was one at that time(still is...? I'll ask...). I know that she was; I could feel it.

Another actual vampire, yet she was actually turned. This seems contrary to Cactus' beliefs. This could add something to the topic. This could be a good source of infomation.
