Ok, so I recently got DDR, because I heard from several people that you can loose weight on it. But I totally suck right now. I failed the tutorial. Dx
Anyway.... I am terribly uneducated about calories, and metabolism. My mom entered my height 5'1, and my weight 145, into some internet thing, and it said that I can eat 1800 calories a day, if I don't want to loose weight.
And I also heard around somewhere about the starvation thing. If you don't have a certain amount of calories, your body goes into starvation mode. I was wondering how much that would be.
And can you go one day with only eating salad, and vegetables? Despite the low-calories? So my body won't go into starvation, right?
And I wanted to know some things I can do to get my metabolism up faster. I am in soccer, and go on Monday's, and Wednesday's, and I am getting a running machine, I have no idea what they're called. xD I totally forgot.
Anyway, can anyone help? She probably entered it into a basal metabolic rate calculator-it calculates how many calories you burn by just existing. However, 1800 seems a bit high for someone of your size, unless you're a teenager.
Everything I've read says to stay above 1200 calories to keep out of starvation mode. But, if you're an athlete, and still maturing, I wouldn't drop below 1500.
I wouldn't recommend too many days of just salad and fruit. You should probably try to get protein in there too, and some healthy fats (nuts like almonds and walnuts and fish as well are great sources of healthy fats) into your diet. I'd recommend leaner proteins, such as chicken, turkey, and fish. But no, it takes a while for your body to enter starvation mode. As far as it's concerned, food just happened to be scarce that day, and if you continue to eat normal amounts of food, it'll be just fine.
Exercise will boost your metabolism, as will building muscle. I've also heard that eating smaller meals more often will help-for example, instead of eating three meals of 500 calories, eat 5-6 smaller meals of 200-300 calories.
Hope that helps!
